Swap it with a Saturator, you’ll be just fine!

@@WillHattonthanks for the reply! Ngl I personally lose interest in a video whenever creators use plugins from the newest ableton version because I dont have them and I wouldnt really know what I could replace it with

@@beanbinder no problem! Roar is cool because it’s multi-band, right? But you can get the same result with a Saturator and an EQ! Notice in the vid I create chains? You could have a Saturator and an EQ in 3 chains for low, mid, high if you like! The possibilities are endless!

Cool video, Will. I recently went through this exact same process with iZotope's Vinyl. It's amazing how much you mileage you can get out of native Ableton devices. I never would've thought to use the Cabinet and the the Vocoder in my Vinyl rack though. Thanks for the ideas!

Happy to help! Ableton really have thought of everything, I rarely use 3rd party these days!

I think this is a cool video thanks. Going to buy it myself. A couple of thoughts though. That UAD plug does a bit more than you represented here having used their other tape plug-ins. You are correct about the free plugin not having more options. I'd argue the target here for UA was to get to a sound faster without tweaking. Also, the paid version does give you tone and output control but need the dry/wet function imho. I'm sure given their history that they are emulating actual gear while what you did is trying to create an effect by ear. So the goals are a bit different i think. I'd be interested in knowing how UA's plugins respond to different signals at different frequencies and compare that with what you made. I'd bet something like plug-in doctor would show what their plugin is actually doing. Just my thoughts.

Firstly thank you so much, this has been so fun trying to recreate this, and great practise for mapping. I'm hitting one snag though, not sure what I've done, but as I turn up the dry wet macro my volume goes down, to the point where it's very quiet on 127. Any thoughts?
