How to make a basic Reaper template + electricity sound design

NOTE: After messing about with the template the sub aux sounds a bit distorted because it's under the premaster group which is being bumped up by +10db.

Hey there! Your videos are awesome! I'm pretty new to sound design and feeling a bit lost on how to organize all my sounds. I think I need a solid structure for them, but I'm struggling with the whole UCS folder system (and in general just don't like it). Your videos have been super helpful in teaching me how to create different sounds, but now i just need a way to structure them. Thanks a lot for all the great videos! (🤷‍♂Maybe you could show how you structure all your sounds and stuff🤷‍♂)

Heeello, thanks for the comment! I actually don't do any metadata or any of the UCS stuff. life's too short. just name it properly and put it in a folder. job done. Just think about what kind of sounds you want to make and put them in the appropriate folders i.e explosions, gunshots, magic, ambiences. I just put my initials at the start so JD_Explo etc. Generally I have 3 stages, raw, procesed and designed. Raw is literally taken directly from the recorder, processed is 95% of the library, designed is only a really small portion of the lib that I don't use very often. Sometimes I'll buy a new plugin and make a library from that. so I could take a bunch of my assets from "JD_Explosions" put them through a granular vst, like NI Form for example then make a Granular library out of that. You don't need to make new content every single time. I could also put those sample samples through filter freak/runciter and I have some JD_Punch assets.

@@James29d Nice this almost exactly what I have been looking for in terms of folder structure. Most KZreadrs recommend using metadata, but I find it inefficient. I prefer a well-organized folder structure because I usually know what type of sound I want or how I want it to sound. Searching through metadata seems like a waste of time.

Cool video! Thank you, I always learn something from your videos. One question: I see you have been using Soothe's delta output + Phaseplant. Any cool ideas or source material you have find useful by using this combination? It's on my To Do List too.

Hey Marc! Absolutely. I've been using the delta output + Zynaptiq "Unveil" for sci fi/magic sounds, it's a very useful feature. I'm actually planning on doing a video on that soon!
