it was nice, it remined me of my school project back in 1999, when i made a small vacuum pump using aquarium pump & a lunch box. it was not as strong as this one but it fit my need at the time. :)

You can get the exactly same small yellow compressor in Finland from Ale-Makasiini, though it will be black, and it may not be sold in every ale-Makasiini, but it will cost about 12 euros. I myself bought one for other purposes and it works great with a computer power supply thanks to the high power it can produce. If you use a large enough container, you'll don't have to take the pump apart.

It's going to overheat very badly if used for any length of time, because the air cooling the motor is at low pressure.

I'v made this vacuum pump. It work 5 minutes until burned. Unfortunetly vacuum is best thermoinsulator. But this construction has a right to exist for one or two minutes working.

+Vitaly Sarychev i tried to convert an air pump into a vacuum pump too. won't work! those cheap, little pumps have a piston seal and check valve optimized to produce pressure, not vacuum. don't waste your time!

It says right on the side of all these little tire compressors do not run more than 5 mins. There are a few that are made better than these little cheapies but they cost about 4 times as much.

cool stuff, but the glass container wasn't a good idea. you can't fix the pump inside, the motor can't cool down, and the moving parts can be blocked by the casing.

Can i use it to make cathode ray tube ? Is it vacuum pressure is enough ??

I make same vacuum pump, but just conect tube to inlet valve (vith thermoglue). This valve on top, perfect fore 3mm hose.

I started out quite sceptical, but liked the result. But you should never use oil on robber. Use a drop of silicone or even a tiny bit of talcum or cornstarch. Though the latter two might get into the vacuum pump if you use too much.

Simple trow away the vacuum pump ans buy a new one

The vibrating pump rattling against the glass may cause cracks in the glass and cause the container to implode violently when under vacuum. Not good. Also, the pump needs air for cooling. Don't expect this to last long and please be careful.

Are those chinese cheap pumps reliable? How low pressure goes?

Buy a real pump. Quieting that thing down would outweigh the pros.

How about that? A way of not taking the tire pump apart and still getting the vacuum. Of course you're going to have to make a parts run to a store that carries canning supplies.

Hmm, ill pass on this one as my 2.5kw 350 PSI air compresser has a filter port (inside it has an untaped tube that ill put a thread in)

if you put it on a runing car u will het more power and bigger vacum ;)

100 militorr is 0,00013332237 bar... and as he said in the video, this pump goes up to 0.8 bar. This pump gets 600049,339 millitorr. Millitorr isn't a large unit at all, so I have no clue what you are talking about and/or are trying to say.
