Knock on wood but this might be an exception but once I hit a hundred listings about 1 month and 2 taking eBay serious I haven't missed a day of going to the post office even though there have been plenty of days where it was just one item but I think it's all mental now like somebody must buy something from me everyday and so they do. I am a sourcing Fein I have a death pile fit for a whole family and I just can't stop sourcing but I still work and I don't use any of my proceeds from my eBay store it's all basically a form of saving for me

Lol he did pick up a good item that sold on eBay for triple and I gave him the profit to save/spend! Now he’s having a little more fun at it and understanding the business. I so agree with you, it's good to get out and be around people, I've meet some nice women and great conversations while out sourcing! By the way, both my husband and I were widowed in our 30's so we understand how it feels to be alone. Good to hear you're taking a healthy approach of getting out to be around people. I’ve seen so many videos like this from experienced sellers and they leave out the biiiiig X factor on what makes those numbers possible... experience! If you don’t know what you’re doing, you’ll either buy, photograph and list a bunch of stuff that nobody wants (even if they only cost $1) because you don’t know what brands sell and what brands sit or you’ll spend so much time looking up every single thing before you buy it that you only find one $30 profitable item after a full day of sourcing (yes, a FULL day). Fifty $30 profitable items in one day? For a beginning seller? And then there is the time is takes to list it. This includes the time it takes to research sold comps and competitor comps, cleaning and testing (for electronics), plus photographs. I seem to spend all day and get three things listed after doing all of that so they have to be things that are over $30 profit each (or a total of $100). I spent three hours researching and cleaning two pairs of hiking boots last night (one had the model number rubbed off). Yes, they have a combined profit of around $80, but I haven’t even photographed them yet. Every new category has its own issues and problems. Oh, and let’s not even talk about shipping. How do you ship a home theatre receiver? Or athletic shoes that don’t fit in a shoe box? How do you clean nubuck? You go watch a few hours of KZread videos. The learning curve is steep, and this stuff all takes a lot of time. Profitable clothing brands are gone the day they hit the floor at my Goodwills and there isn’t enough profit in the ones left to bother with. Shoes can have high profits, but they take a lot of time to clean and prep. I’ve spent an hour cleaning tiny pieces of grass out of the bottoms of nearly new golf shoes (Worth $90, but an hour just doing that!). You really worry about any negative feedback as a new seller so there’s a lot of pressure to make sure your few items are the best they can be. There isn’t much room to fudge and hope for the best. I have a bunch of leather dress shoes waiting for all of my supplies to treat the leather I ordered from Amazon before I can list them. Electronics can also have high profits... if they work. My first DVD and VCR combo unit I bought, worth $100, ate my VHS test tape. One reseller said about 1/3 of VCRs you buy from garage sales and thrift stores don’t work. That’s a lot of capital to lose for a beginner. And I just don’t feel comfortable whipping out my phone at garage sales trying to look everything up while some person is sitting in a chair watching me look at their stuff. I either don’t buy anything or buy stuff that later turns out to have no profit. I’ve learned the hard way that even free stuff costs you the time to research, test, clean, photograph and list it. It’s just not worth the time for $5 profit when it’s the same work to list $50 profit. Hard lessons learned. I would love to find fifty $30 items in one day and then list them all within the week. What a dream that would be!!!! I’m still trying to make this work, but it is haaaaaaard!!! I know I sound like I’m complaining, but I’ve bought into videos like this and then tried to apply them and I don’t get the same results because of all of the factors mentioned above, the biggest being lack of experience. I think experienced sellers forget what it’s like to not know anything, and how much time it takes to learn each little thing that helps you work smarter and faster. I am testing my other two VCRs tomorrow after unsuccessfully hunting for blank vhs tapes locally today. I hope they work.

Thanks for the realism - I have 40 things listed and have sold 2 items in 3 weeks, Ive priced commpetively - many resellers on you tube say you just need more volume but if I sell 2 out of 40, then surely with 120 items i'll sell 6 - unless I source better, better phtoos, better listings I guess.....does it ever happen that people have heaps listed that bsically never sells - that has a cost that needs to come off any profit you may make.........

Thank you for your lucid, professional, business focused approach and valuable insights into how to make an income from reselling! I just started selling my own surplus, great quality, clothes a month ago to downsize home, amazed at making almost £500 in less than a month (also thanks to a friend helping with great photos!) and have seriously started researching this as a potentially my main income source. I must have watched over a hundred KZread videos in a fortnight, and yours absolutely resonates the most with me. Pity for me you're not in the UK, as things are a bit different here in terms of sourcing etc., but as someone who left a professional career, after 100+ advice videos, although I have learnt something from all, I have found your business advice streets ahead of the crowd. So, much gratitude from me in the Lake District in England and I shall undoubtedly now be up very late binge watching a whole lot of your other videos! Best wishes, Amanda.

You could have 1 listing and make $2,000 a month or you could have 500 listings and make $2,000 a month. It really depends on what you're selling and what your profit margin is. You just need to keep listing every day because that is what eBay's algorithm likes to see...an active store. If you can't afford to buy expensive things when starting out...go to Goodwill's etc. Build your cash flow. Then when the time is right you can branch off into other areas. It just takes time and patience. Just don't give up!

Many helpful tips, but the real goal is less items with a higher value. I list one day a week and only average 1 item a day. My last 90 days. 96 items listed, 93 sold. 7,964.88. Net is around 5500. Once you know how to eBay stop wasting time with bins, yard sales etc. Just buy wholesale and buy items that sell. Buy it dirt cheap and sell it cheap. Cause the real goal is to make money in a short of time as possible. Also try to keep buying and selling the same items. Hitting relist is so much easier then making new listings everyday. eBay seller since 05. 2 accts, 2 neutrals and never a negative.

The less you think the easier it is. Remember your money is made when you acquire items to sell. Example 1. If you have no capitol, Dumpster dive. Free items, list to sell fast. Example 2. If you have capitol, buy wholesale. Product Sourcing 101 on FB is where you start. Nearly every wholesaler in the US is in that group. The tricks no matter which way someone starts is price the stuff to sell. 75% of what I sell is sold within 48 hours. A long tail item to me is 7 days. If it doesn't sell in 7 days my price is too high, something is wrong in the listing, or its just something no one wants. My click through as of today 2.2% Sales conversion is 2.4% Get it in and get it out. Its always better to sell 10 items at 50 a piece then two items at 100. Everyone wants top dollar yet they fail to realize eBay is the place for bargains.

This may be a stupid question but does having more products to sell equal selling more items simply because you are offering more products to buy? Does that make sense? I'm currently trying to sell two measly items and am getting almost no views and no one is buying them. If I had more items to sell (like 400), would I have a better chance of selling those two items that I'm currently trying to sell? Wonderful, wonderful video by the way.

Sounds like you sell a lot of used items. Have you tried selling new items, for example buying off the discount isle at Walmart, and then selling on Ebay or Amazon, and had much success?

Side note Ebay algorithm requires to list consistently or sales will decline fast no matter how many listings are up. I have 1400 items and didn't list two weeks it was horrible for sales. Good video thanks subscribed!

If you are thinking of selling random, cheap stuff on ebay then it is okay. If you are thinking about real business, then ebay is a bad idea. Check their policies first before you start. I like most "we did not see what item was sent, we did not see what item was returned" policy.

Finding a good supplier and products to sell is not an easy task. However, the staff here go out of their way to respond to your questions and concerns and give you much needed advice and direction. They respond quickly and answer your questions always clearly so you're not going back and forth. Although I've dealt with a few of their customer service reps whom have all been wonderful, the most recent one was Rhea and she has been extremely helpful. I would definitely recommend this service to others. visit *MyOnlineSelling. Com* for more info
