    Thanks, I had a problem with the lower part of my Fit Life pole and disassembling as you suggested cured the problem

    I tried both these suggestions, but it didn’t fix one of my poles. On a hunch, I grabbed a long, skinny, spiral brush used for narrow openings in bottles, etc. I wrapped it tightly in a thinish paper towel and using a spiral motion pushed it into the tube. I twisted it several times and when I pulled it out there was quite a bit of black dirt on the towel. I unwrapped the towel and turned it to the unused side, rewrapped the brush and repeated the maneuver. Again, dirt on the paper towel. I rejoined the pieces and, voila! No problem. The dirt wasn’t on the mechanism but in the tube.

    Mine was jammed too far extended and jammed following use trying to get out of a quagmire. Tried all ways to fix it and began to think I'd have to buy a new one. This video was all I needed. Excellent, and so easy.

    Excellent video but with my Leki (screw-type secure mechanism - as in the first pole demonstrated) the tips didn't work. Eventually found on the Leki site the red bit inside the mechanism can stick. Pull off the blue plastic outer (as shown on first pole here), unstick the red 'rocket' with pliers (anti-clockwise to move it UP the thread) and re-assemble. Fixed.

    Try the steps from about 1:40 on to see which method fits the locking mechanism of your poles. We covered a bunch of different styles so there is probably something that is close to your mechanism. Happy Trails!

    No lube inside. But how would you prevent rust, of the metal parts inside, especially if they get wet?

  • @Enwild

    @Enwild

    3 жыл бұрын

    Birk, using a lubricant would greatly increase the potential for injury. The tolerances of these poles would greatly reduce the introduction of moisture and if sufficient moisture was introduced, we would recommend drying and cleaning.
