Congrats and good luck with it. I’m still enjoying my ‘07 328i convertible. Top still operates smoothly, no leaks or squeaks. Every Fall I GF the seals, put it away for the winter, and lube the top when it wakes up in the Spring, good as new.

Thanks so much for this short, simple and easy to understand video. The other videos that I watched make the process look intimidating and complicated.

Hi Tara, does ECS tuning sell the rubber seals that go around the read window for that model. Mine is a 2007 328i hardtop convertible just like the one in the video. I cannot find the part number of the seals around the back window or any video on how to replace them.

Gummi Pflege! Thanks greatly. I see that Kroil Oil is a better penetrant than WD-40, not as quick to dry out, on top of which I'd guess its graphite provides ongoing help with friction.

TVTara have never done it :(. But my baby has 140k on its 2011. Haven’t heard squeaks or noticed any leaks but living in Bay Area, the sun hits it daily.

Hi Tara, I wanted to start off by saying thank you for providing us with this helpful video. I used your advice and it absolutely eliminated those exact noises in my E93 convertible. I have a question. When it rains, it starts to leak at the corner where the B pillar is, giving off a slow but constant dripping of water onto my passenger seat. Any advice at all on fixing this? I bought a trombone snake and cleaned the drain that lines the B pillar but it still drips. Thanks in advance !

Oh no you can,t gummi plege or krytox only. Vaseline on a land rover where your clothes don’t matter maybe. The roof seals on a hard top convertible are a completely different material and you would be causing more problems.

Are those wheels 18s or 19s and what are the tire sizes?

Thanks. My issue is that I’m running 18x9 and 18x10.5 with 215/35 and 245/35 but the stretch is too much. I’m lowered and can still fit two fingers between tire and fender. What sizes should I get so it sits like yours and eliminates the wheel gap? And how wide are your wheels front and back? And what brand tires? I guess that’ll help me decide what tire size also when I factor that in with the tire sizes you gave me earlier. Thank you.

Thanks for your response! Yes, it will be my daily driver. I have budgeted $700-800 per year for maintenance & repairs. No, i won't be doing the maintenance myself. I plan to take it to cgmotorsports.com/ for maintenance. If maintained well twice a year, will it be reliable?

Tara, it is literally destructive to use penetrating oil as a general purpose lubricant. Penetrating oil is extremely thin. It doesn't provide the necessary "thickness" -viscosity to separate metal from metal ... and thus lets the parts wear much too fast. Worse, it "evaporates" off quickly... Leaving NO lubricant... What you have done is given seriously bad advice AND told everyone that buying your car used is a bad option...
