It's funny, but I was working on my treadmill's belt because I noticed it was sliding to one side, and I basically figured out what he talks about in this video by trial and error. I just wished I had watched it before spending the time, but I guess I learned something along the way!

I’ve just bought Horizon 7.0AT and had it installed 2 days ago. The installer lubricated under the running belt on each side of it without loosening it. I went into the shop to check on belt tension that my treadmill has and it’s about right. The problem is I momentarily get a squeaking noise on some steps while walking. It doesn’t sound like it’s coming from the motor as it runs smooth and quiet when not walking on it. The floor is flat and I used the level to measure it and nil issues there. I was wondering if if it’d be possible that silicone lubricant wasn’t applied or spread enough under the running belt that makes the noise as if you try to stop it intentionally generating that sort of noise.

can you adjust the motor drive belt on the Horizon treadmills? Ive centered, tightened, etc. the walking belt, but it still slips. When I step forcefully on the walking belt, I can see the drive belt slow down.

Thanks for this tutorial, very helpful indeed. I have a small question, if possible : on my treadmill after I hold the program button 3-5 seconds I get a menu with 3 different values, without any explanation (not in the manual either). The values are between 5-250 (2 values) and 5-60 (3rd value). Do you know by any chance what these values refers to? Thanks.

I have a Horizon 7.0 from Dicks. The back looks like it’s centered but the front looks like it’s to one side. I’ve been trying to center the belt. I just can’t get it perfect. It looks like the edges of the belt aren’t perfectly straight either. It’s just hard to center. I’ve only walked a few miles so far.

I have a 2013 Horizon Treadmill CT 9.3. It has been used for walking only and that too very rarely, but I have been servicing it regularly. Since a weak from today it suddenly stops and there comes clicking sound from the control board. After a few minutes, the machine resets itself, starts normally but again after a few minutes stops suddenly and the same clicking sounds starts coming from the control board. Can you please advise as how can I overcome this trouble ? Thanks.

So what do I do if I turned the tension bolts and didn't keep track of how many turns I did? Is there a fix for that?

  • @williameddy1662

Matthew Pascarella -- Look at how the belt is " tracking " , after you turn it on at low speed . You may have got lucky and done no harm . If it tracks towards the left , then tighten the left side by a quarter turn , and by more quarter turns , if necessary . If it tracks towards the right , then tighten that right side by a quarter turn , and additional quarter turns if necessary .

Thank you. Just set up my Horizon t101. The treadmill running pad will not budge. I thought it was become it was too tight. Or misaligned. After a few cranks on each side counter clockwise still no movement. I can’t even manually make it move. But I can make the treadmill move manually in reverse. Thoughts?

My treadmill all of a sudden when you push START, the tread moves quicker but shuts off immediately. The tread rotates about half way around. It's dead. I have to push STOP to get it to do anything at that point. The whole unit is clean and gap between Reed switch and magnet is approximately 1/8". I could lift tread up about 2-2.5 inches off the pad. I rotated the drive belt with my fingers around 60 degrees. Do I need to lubricate under the belt? Why does it stop as fast as it starts?

This process is so frustrating to do. I've been working on aligning my new under desk treadmill for a month and a week. Since I have no clue how many turns either side of the machine has been made in my adjustments, how do I "start over" so I can make equal turns? Should I adjust until it's fully loose and neither side can be moved more before retightening? Right now I can kind of get the belt to ride centered when off the machine, but if I get on it it quickly moves to the left. This is normally the kind of thing I pay someone else to do but I'm disabled and broke so I'm out of luck now. Sigh.

You left out a very important step. Once you loosen the belt so you have access to the deck you need to inspect it. You want to check to make sure it is smooth like glass. If you have scratches on the deck it is going to cause fiction no matter how much lube you put on. The deck should be replaced if it has very many scratches on it and that almost always means the belt needs replaced as well. Also if you run the speed up around 9 MPH while adjusting it side to side the belt will shift much fast. I neat little thing to do once you think it is done is run the speed back down to .5 MPH and push the belt to one side or the other. Keep doing that until the belt is shifted a fair amount. Now without standing on the belt, run the speed back up to around 9 MPH. If you have the belt adjusted properly it will come back to center after about 15 or 20 seconds. If it doesn't come back to center you will need to adjust the rear roller a very little bit and redo the shifting of the belt to test it again. BTW, before you replace a deck and belt check to make sure other key components are still available for your treadmill. Things like the front and rear roller, drive motor, motor controller, and console. If any of these parts are not available it wouldn't be wise to replace the deck and belt. If one of those other key parts goes out right after you replace the deck and belt you have just wasted money. Any residential unit around 10 years old or older, it is wise to not put much money in to repairs. Quite often you will spend about half the cost of a new unit to repair an out dated treadmill.
