    Do you think Keto diet is good option for long term health ??

  • @CrystalClues

    @CrystalClues

    Hi Harsimran - Thanks for that interesting question! The term “health” is really loaded because it means so many different things and the same diet can have a net positive to one person while being a bad move for someone else. For example the keto diet could be a good option for long-term health if it turns a morbidly obese person into a healthy weight person. (Although to be frank, it’s not necessarily the keto aspect of the diet that’s good for her, it’s the overall calorie restriction. But if that’s what it takes to get someone like that to lose the weight, then it is a good move.) But the keto diet could also aggressively raise the cholesterol of someone who originally had very low levels, making it not a good option for another individual’s long-term health (which I would say, is more likely the category you are in as a beautiful young woman!). I think it depends on the “health baseline” in which you started, your ability to digest fats, and also other environmental factors like whether you have access to high quality meat and cheese, have the money to afford keto meals, and if your social groups and friends also follow the same diet. There’s so much more at play when we talk about overall health than just the nutritional profiles in calories of the foods we eat. (For me, being able to eat what my mom cooks, go out with friends and enjoy what they’re eating too...all those things matter to me personally and factor into my holistic state of health, if that makes sense.) I’m not a doctor so this isn’t health advice by any means but this is an article I really liked that painted a balanced picture of what I’ve seen with keto: www.health.harvard.edu/blog/ketogenic-diet-is-the-ultimate-low-carb-diet-good-for-you-2017072712089 I personally agree with the author: “But it is hard to follow, and it can be heavy on red meat and other fatty, processed, and salty foods that are notoriously unhealthy. We also do not know much about its long-term effects, probably because it’s so hard to stick with that people can’t eat this way for a long time. It is also important to remember that “yo-yo diets” associated with higher rates of mortality.” I’ve tried it for a short period of time and anecdotally, it find it really hard to follow. I personally looooove rice and just can’t let it go! I also really like eating foods with fiber (beans, brown rice, etc) because it’s a habit now and taking those out of my diet at this point makes me afraid for my digestive system haha. I feel like I would be stuffed up for days 🚽 . However, on the other hand, I had a former roommate who would go keto often and he was a big honkin 220+ 6’4” former basketball player that said he felt absolutely terrific when in ketosis. He would regularly drop 10-20 lbs whenever he wanted just by going for a few weeks eating nothing but meat, cheese, “butter coffee”, and vegetables stir fried in butter. I could always tell he was getting ready to go into ketosis because the kitchen would start to smell greasy with all the animal products he was cooking up. But it really worked for him! I don’t personally know anyone who does the keto diet long-term but I’m sure they’re out there.

    @@CrystalClues thank you so much crystal 💗 I'll choose my internal healthier state of my organs over losing weight (not criticizing the keto diet ) But I really can relate to the struggle of leaving the rice 😭😭😅and side dishes as i belong from south asian country "India". But I found your 3 video series really helpful and started on a healthy diet 💪

    No, you’ll (highly likely) have horrible rebound weight gain, and you’ll get keto breath, keto crotch, and headaches. It’s also bad for the environment since animal products are responsible for more greenhouse gases.

    I would recommend looking at your diet and seeing how much fiber you're eating and increas your calories. You can do that in a healthy way. Try finding some high carb foods that are healthy.

    If that is your natural body type that’s quite fortunate for you 😁 If you feel confident you don’t need to add weight. For western pageants though there is usually no harm in someone with your stats putting on more muscle.

    Hi Haidee! I didn't add anything to the potatoes in the air fryer. I sliced them really thin so they crisp up super well. The idea if to get as much surface area exposed as possible so they become like little chips :D
