i actually learned a lot from this video even with 2000 hours between terraria and tmodloader entering the dungeon with bees to prevent the guardians from spawning was crazy, but what was really insane was placing unsafe dungeon walls behind underground pots to force them to drop dungeon loot. holy shit

almost 3000 hours between tmod,pc,and ps4. my brother got in the dungeon back in 1.3 by using the slime mount and a target dummy. he couldnt get any loot but he did get bragging rights for killing a bunch of dungeon guardians with this strat. I think it still works too

Would HIGHLY recommend the nights edge on the Skeletron fight in Legendary mode. They made the fight much harder so you have to take any advantage possible

Fwiw on legendary, all you need to do is get a big enough arena and ideally a dark caster banner and it's not that bad of a fight. Although I understand the annoyance of wanting a banner. Personally just used every buff under the sun and a fiery greatsword

Skeletron on legendary mode isn’t more difficult at all. They just added some dark casters but if you circle skeletron you’ll accidentally dodge them 9/10 times.

Skeletron in getfixedboi is not bad unless you're melee or summoner, then you're gonna need to overprepare, a volcano with molten armor and buffs can do the job well enough

This is perfect. I was hoping it meant bones could be pre-boss, but it's still super cool. I have a world where I am trying to avoid killing bosses for as long as possible. I'm about 100 hours in and this just opened up a whole new path

Yeah, your only avenue for pre-boss bones would be shimmering naturally spawned pianos or thorns potions, and you would need a lot of them to get anything meaningful.

Does anyone else remember maybe 1.1-1.2 (not sure which update it was, on mobile) where just taking an invis potion would let you in? And then as soon as you swung your sword, you got bonked.

In the drunk world seed, the dungeon will be under a tree and It will spawn skeletons allowing you to make the post skeletron ranged armor, there can be chests within your reach and the depth where the guardian spawns is changed to be lower

They actually patched it so that those skeletons don't drop bones before Skeletron is killed. It used to be possible, I got ranged armor pre Skeletron once like it, but playing the "everything" seed I noticed it was patched. Likewise, the Dark Casters that spawn in FTW Skeletron don't drop bones at first, but suddenly do as soon as Skeletron is dead.

@@RenegativeStill works on drunk worlds. Zenith worlds nerf a few world-specific things so it's the ultimate challenge to fit the legendary seed modifier better (most obvious is gibbing all the free NPCs the party seed would give you after the party ends).

...I can't help but question why it's so easy to invalidate the one roadblock separating players from dungeon loot, and why more people haven't done it before.

well the only people that know how to do it are the ones actively searching for it, even then, those few that do search for it may or may not actually use it during a playthrough as some may consider it cheating

I think the problem is more with practicality. You would need a *lot* of defense for having EoC alive that long, or access to tons of bees. Either way, you would have the resources to fight Skeletron himself.

Most likely because getting to the dungeon pre-skeletron is not important enough, and killing the skeletron itself is not difficult enough, so most players are not actively looking for a solution. The reason we have so many cheese or setups against Daytime EoL is because it is difficult and it rewards player with one of the best summon item in the entire game, there are enough challenge and incentives that pushes player to find new solutions

simple, it just isn't that necessary. every single class except ranged can get their best pre HM armor before skeletron, and even then ranged has fossil armor and fossil weapons. skeletron just isn't that big of an obstacle most of the time.

no offense but penguin games survival players are locked behind what they see on the youtube videos

You can get the bezoar pre boss as well which would be a help on the bees side, you can also have a hamburger from evil biome enemies for a major boost, ur also able to get warding on all of your accessories giving an additional 20 defense

Tragically, fishing up the dungeon loot used to be a thing, but it got patched so that you cannot get the dungeon crates until after skeletron has been defeated.

I developed a strategy for this where I kill skeletron which makes the dungeon guardians disappear

Pro Tip: Use gladiator armor to not take knock back from EOC (until you get shield) or if you just came down for the weapons cause shield is kinda overrated.

Is it also possible to use statues to spawn enough enemies to reach the monster cap by utilising wiring from traps and light switches, or do statue spawns not count towards the main cap?

You can shimmer natural pianos that you find in abandoned houses underground, though pianos are hard to come by iirc.

This is such a simple fix, just make it so that dungeon guardian can ignore spawn cap.

Me, always using the Drunk World seed for all the ore types: "Reality can be whatever I want." For those that don't know: The Drunk World seed is a special seed in the game that messes with the game's world generation exponentially, causing biomes to be misplaced, all ore types to be present, both Corruption and Crimson to be present in the world, lots of more traps underground, a absolutely giant Jungle Temple, and most importantly here; *A Dungeon that spawns underground.* This Dungeon will start at the surface, identified by a living tree with "dead leaves" (Leaves auto-painted brown), and when you go down through the living tree, you'll go deep enough to reach the underground, where the Dungeon and Cursed Clotheir will reside. This breaks the rules of Dungeon Guardian spawns, and allows dungeon mobs to spawn without killing Skeletron. You can make an improvised fishing pond and fish up Dungeon Crates, as well.

there's no reason for them to remove it. as another commenter pointed out, by the time you have the ability to safely tank 15+ mobs + perhaps even eoc, you're geared enough anyways to take down skeletron. I'd even argue that setting all this up is much more of a hassle than just killing skeletron in the first place, who isn't even that big of a deal in master mode anyways.

Just wait untill the Dungeon Guardian is classified as a friendly npc that can damage the player, there will be no workaround *just dont tell the devs 🤫🤫*

This would be an exploit, as everything involved here is working correctly it’s just being utilized in an unintended way. Whether or not it’s valid for speed runs is up to that community to decide, but the amount of defense required and the fact that skeletron isn’t hard to kill probably makes it nonviable anyways

@@hitriypig You can't fish dungeon loot before killing skeletron, and it's really up to you what you decide is cheating or not. Terraria is predominantly a single player game and unless you're doing a challenge/speedrunning with a defined ruleset the rules are whatever you make them

You can loot the dungeon by removing the dungeon walls, its not the blocks that spawn him, its the walls, so you can explore it freely if you managed to remove the walls, but its impossible because removing dungeon walls is not possible if you didn't kill skeletron

Bruh, it doesn't work on Legendary, and I had 52 defence and all the potions. Just waiting for the dude to spawn 30 servants takes half the night. Then you go into the Dungeon and you have hardly any time to do anything because of the spikes and walls. Good idea in theory, but you lied about the gamemodes above Classic, where this isn't a viable strategy. Kinda useless imo because Classic is the only gamemode where Skeletron is easily fightable in pre-hardmode. I wasted so many potions and an hour just trying to get this to work, but it doesn't.

@@sorbetcafe Now that I think about it, EoC doesn't spawn minions in Classic, does it? Still, how come it works so well in Master Mode but terribly in Legendary? Whatever, I'll just fight Skeletron and hopefully win after a few attempts. But Skeletron is so freaking hard in Legendary... I've got maximum pre-hardmode defense and everything else minus a few potions, and I still get 4-shot. I'd love to just skip the Dungeon entirely but I need the Muramasa for WoF. What to do...

@@amazingfireboy1848 the eye does spawn minions in classic. Id suggest spawning bees and killing any of the large ones until you just have 15 small bees. Those should be rather easy to tank at that level of defense.

Bees still work. Tested it today 23.12.2023 at 1.4.4.9 (Latest) At 57 defense (All warding, Gladiator armor, SoC, Obsidian Skull) it's somewhat manageable if you also place Heart Lanterns and Campfires and drink potions regularly.
