Theatrical lighting design rule of thumb. To look natural, have lighting source 45°angle from verticle, not right opposite your nose. If possible one on either side, again 45° off from straight in front.and if you want to get really fancy, have slightly warm light from one side and cool from the other. If you still have an unflattering shadow, you can use something white, like poster board, from that side to reflect just a little more light into that area.

I seldom use my phone except once I used Duo to speak to someone. The laptop info was very helpful. Think I'll 'contact' Marlena Dietrich mediumisticly and ask her about the key lighting that made her & all the gorgeous Golden Age stars look so amazing and flawless. Thx Lisa, be blessed!

Yes they did!! They were under some pretty hot Fresnel lighting. We used to study it in my photographer days.

@@LisaMonique Oh how cool...or rather HOT lol! They were all so stunning in the Golden Age of Hollywood werent they, not like today's beauties except for say Catherine Zeta-Jones.

My mum could have done with seeing this video a few weeks ago. She was taking a test via zoom and had to apologise to the examiner for the way she looked due to zoom giving her orange eyebrows and bright red lips. She did pass her test and the examiner saw the funny side. I think I’ll share this with her to prevent any further mishaps.

Do you recommend keeping your phone camera on “mirror front camera” setting on the iPhone so you’re seen the way you see yourself in a mirror or turning it off so you’re seen the way other people would normally see you?

Well, if you have an iPhone 14, that front "selfie" camera is pretty amazing and it is HD. But on the older phones, it is not as high quality but still good enough for FaceTime. However, I do think it's better to use one of the back cameras if you are actually filming a video.
