Hi Deirdre! I am a huge fan of wide leg linen pants and a simple top to stay cool but not be overexposed! I am larger up top than I am on the bottom so I go for dark colors on top and white bottoms. I also like a loose blouse tucked into a pair of shorts - flowy blouses are so forgiving (and much cooler than clingy knits!) and if I tuck them in I don’t look like I’m wearing a tent. Hi my friend Deirdre~ I love saying that because ever since the first day I found your channel at the beginning of this year, you have absolutely felt like a new friend! Here's what really touched my heart the first time I watched one of your videos: You said "and a special warm welcome if you're new here". That 'special warm welcome' has stayed with me ever since! Real quick, I have a few things to put out there... #1 You inspired me to go through my closet and create new outfits from things I already own, including finding metallic sandals that I forgot I owned. That alone saved me a lot of money. #2 You inspired me to look into my husband's closet, and BEHOLD, I found 2 brand new pairs of trouser shorts that never fit him and fit me quite well! #3 Your inspiration led me to finding at least 10 pieces of clothing that I thought I had 'outgrown', but much to my surprise, they all fit! #4 You inspired me to think outside the box I had been living in and go for a much more fun and exciting life, looking great and feeling great!!! Well you’ve done it again!!! Your suggestions and styling are so on trend even for someone like me (over 70🧐). I just have a hard time wearing sleeveless now - I have so many sun spots and flabby underarms that I now only wear long or 3/4 sleeve tops/dresses. If I do wear a dress (not often) I choose a maxi and if sleeveless I wear a jean jacket weather permissible. I couldn’t agree more with you re espadrilles. I’ve always thought they were ugly on your legs and how can we walk with those hard unyielding bottoms Ecck! Bought a new pair of summer shoes today, no ankle strap and a 1 1/2 “ heel (can’t wear flats sandals). Need a heel as I’m only 5’ 1/2”. I’ll shut up now but really enjoy seeing you listening to such well informed advice🌹💐🙋‍♀️

Very helpful

I have several black summer dresses but the idea of a white or coloured accessory helps. I have straw that do the trick. Or I can do a little belt or jacket. Totally love my new Fly London black sandals! So comfy! They have a wide crisscrossed elastic straps and actually make my ankles look slimmer. Wore them all day and I was on my feet! Weather is perking up! Swapped out my closet winter and spring/summer clothes on the weekend! Barbecue this evening with friends!

Luv your channel. Just have to say.. went to a local bistro today with friends. I recently purchased a boho style green maxi skirt and paired it with an off the shoulder off white peasant style blouse, which was a bit “blousier “ than what I wanted, but at the approaching age of 70 did not want to wear anything showing my flabby arms. I tucked the blouse into the elastic waist added a brown leather wrap belt, beige block strappy sandals and straw hat. Got 2 compliments on the way to ladies room from other diners and even a compliment on my hat from a very kind gentleman. As I’ve stated before, I wear a uniform everyday as I work in a dental office but watching you and wearing “clothes” with an air of confidence has really made this kind of fun. Should have taken a picture.Keep bringing on the inspiration.

I 'd like to see designers release tunics for shorter ladies. I was always 5'4" until I apparently shrunk to 5'2". Tunics designed for models 5'9" are dresses on me!

Same here. I was 5ft 1+3/4" now I'm 4ft 11+ 3/4". Since covid there are very few shops left in my city and virtually no one does much in petite fit. Also I've just turned 70 and although I still want to look youthful I don't want to dress like a 20yr old. Deirdre's channel is so helpful.

Another great video Deirdre 👍 I think you carry off the horizontal stripes just as well as the vertical 🤩. I'm finding as I get older I care less about dressing slimmer but more about wearing clothes that make me feel fabulous 💗 but thats probably because I'm fairly slim - a wee old lady at church once told me I could wear a bin liner and it would look fab 🤣 I never forgot that comment 🤩 it was so funny to hear but also a compliment. Hey there Deidre, you are every one's favorite big sister, I so appreciate and love you ❤, I'm in my Jubilee ( 50's) too, we don't have to look old and we can wear what 30 yes olds wear, we don't have to look or feel our age, I miss my strong healthy knees, too many decades of high high heels messed up my legs and knees, can my sisters relate, also I lost 80 pounds and I have had to keep buying new bras and panties, fun but expensive!! Ha ha 😅😅😅😅😅

It's just a very basic strapless bra which is good for t-shirts, so it doesn't leave too much of an "edge". XX

Great outfits, most of them are long sleeved though! Summers in Greece where I live are really really hot, which makes it unbearable to wear long sleeves at daytime, especially if your occupation involves walking under the sun, or working in a hospital without an a/c on and all the windows wide open due to covid.

You look fabulous in the horizontal striped dress! I have a Breton top that also looks good despite my rather large bust. I'm wondering why they both work despite 'breaking the rule'. Could it be that the stripes are narrow and close together rather than broad? Just a thought.

Good tips except for the shoes. Generally speaking as we get older we develope foot problems (Bunions, Hammer Toes etc)so feet are best covered up. Espradrills are good in hot weather and cover Toes but have open sides to keep feet Cool.

This is my first time here and I am pleasantly surprised. You offer very nice and useful ideas. Women ought to stop wearing baggy tops. Above all, I wish that all age groups would stop walking around wearing leggings, especially leggings that cut the leg right around the calf, and a big, sloppy top or T-shirt/tunic trying to "cover everything underneath". We do not need to look like fashion models, - far from that, but let´s be feminine and show some style. Let´s enjoy the warm, sunny days and life in general.

My problem is being 5ft 2. V necks come down too low and everything sits in the wrong place, making me look bigger. There is not a lot of choice for petite overweight people like me. Anyone got names of suppliers for short, overweight people please? Thank you for your help and ideas.

I want where Prince or patterns what about plain Jane nice and plain without all this forcing tiger stuff and I don’t like it it’s horrible I don’t like your taste of that all sums alright but not all of it but that print all I don’tDon’t like prints all over dresses spoil it and I certainly don’t like tiger skins and prints I don’t like them horrible some stuff you’re showing is okay and some is rubbish sorry love thank you

You're already skinny. PLEASE use fat people in ALL of your examples so we can imagine the suggestions on our own body's. Also, what about people like me who want to look good at a concert and a concert t-shirt is a must? When I wear a t-shirt...I MUST cover the bumps - primarily the size of my tummy.
