    The popup window like what comes up at 1:42? That would be due to my settings - normally it takes the place of the history tree but I had adjusted the settings to make it come up as a separate window.

    Hey Joko, I am busy with my magister in engineering and need to create a model of a finned coil heat exchanger. The fins need to be updated from a plain configuration to something that would be seen in the industry. The new fin needs to be contoured exactly like the actual heat exchanger's fin. I am only simulating the flow through one segment of the HX to save computational resources for my laptop which will be performing the simulation. Is there any way that you could help me in creating the fin?

    Yes the profile you select that gives the error means that the triangle isn't closed, or it's made up of multiple sketches instead of one. Make sure all the lines of the triangle are connected, sometimes the lines get close without actually touching Reply back if you need more help

  • @JokoEngineeringhelp

    @JokoEngineeringhelp

    8 жыл бұрын

    For the pierce relation, I imagine you're in an active sketch piercing to an inactive sketch. The error occurs when the sketch plane you're using on the active sketch does not have contact with the inactive sketch. If you adjust the sketch plane on the active sketch to collide with some part of the inactive sketch, you'll resolve the error. Message me again if I can be of more help or clarify more.

    HOW TO UNFOLD THIS FOR SHEETMETAL CUTTING AND BEND

  • @JokoEngineeringhelp

    @JokoEngineeringhelp

    4 жыл бұрын

    Unfortunately only developable or algebraic surfaces can be unfolded for sheet metal; this would be a NURBS surface and SolidWorks doesn't have sheetmetal functionality for this. Sheetmetal loft may be able to produce something that will work but it would not have curvature. Flatten surface could flatten this as I do here at 3:00: kzread.info/dash/bejne/ppimltWkZ5W1p6g.html But flatten surface would not be applicable to a sheet metal design. I had a user ask a similar question about sheetmetal on NURBS surfaces and I made them a video here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/oqOO0aOpcpCpqbg.html There are paid add-ins for SolidWorks such as blankworks that might be able to flatten that flange. Good luck

    If it was in my current place of work, we would source the tube and weld the flanges on after plasma cut in house, but you could probably find a foundry to cast the whole thing if you needed to.

    hey thanks! I applied to several places, but heard back only from one. There I got an interview and even the job. But I had to build and program robots. I had done that once in college in a team, but didn't really know what I was doing. They didn't provide training, so it didn't work out. I lasted half a day before being let go haha. Don't know why he hired me in the first place. So I'm still looking.

    1:35: "Now I'll get normal to my front plane" ? That's where you lost me. Not making sense. Can't procede.

  • @josephcoon5809

    @josephcoon5809

    4 жыл бұрын

    From wiki: Normal (geometry): “In geometry, a normal is an object such as a line or vector that is perpendicular to a given object. For example, in two dimensions, the normal line to a curve at a given point is the line perpendicular to the tangent line to the curve at the point.” Getting normal to a plane means looking directly at it. Looking at a plane when you are parallel to it means looking at it from the edge. Isometric means looking at it somewhere between perpendicular and parallel to it. For example, looking at a book when you are normal to the cover allows you to read the title, but you wouldn’t be able to see any other side, so you couldn’t tell how many pages it had. Looking at the book parallel to the cover, you wouldn’t be able to read the title, but you can see how thick it is. Looking at the book isometrically will allow you to see the title AND how thick the book is.
