How to Load your Shoulders [Pete Cowen] Part 1/2

There are 2 ways to load your shoulders, one is for the "Power Transfer Element" from the body to the arms, hands and club, and the other is the "Shot Intention" e.g Fade, Draw, Straight...Here is some rare footage ‪@TravisFultonGolf‬ interview with Pete Cowen, Travis asks Pete the question "How do you load your shoulders Pete" [4.01s]
Look out for Part 2 coming soon where I will break all this down for you :-)
We have all seen and tried the drill with the towel tucked under the armpits which is great for control and especially practicing short game, but the problem is when you try the same drill for long shots as Pete mentions there is great control, but no power..? Why?
Because you need to load the shoulders, very much like a boxer would to deliver a knock out blow, it's all to do with the shoulder movement, rotator cuff, lats and triceps. You also need to load the shoulders on the correct plane depending on what shape of shot you want to hit e.g Fade, Draw, Straight etc...

Pete Cowen doesn't waste words. Everything he is saying he repeats in other videos. His swing starts with his grip..once you do these drills you will see. Spend 5 to 10 minutes a night. you will see the difference.. And use the Gforce.. amen.

I wonder how many amateurs would have strong enough shoulders to have this kind of control. Golf is a very physical game. Unfortunately, a lot of amateurs think the long game can be improved in a couple of lessons. This is great content.

I went and saw Fred Couples play a Champions event in Houston in 2022. His shoulders are extremely broad.

Yet many of the great teachers Toski, Flick, etc. say the arm swing turns the shoulders, they shouldn't be the focus.

He is just confusing us. For an average golfers like us he should explain in simple terms what is or how to load my shoulder for the fade or draw. Ie does loading meant flex or relax my shoulder

He is not very good in explaining in details of what he meant. Try to search for how to load your shoulder for draw or fade. He just assumed that we knew. Can someone explain in layman’s term what they meant please.

Interesting but totally in exploitable for an amateur. Not sure if the point of this. I like cowen but get him on the course not on a videoconference
