This is how I load and haul a bike. I typically use a chock with the bike straight up and down and soft straps, as well as use an incline, but tried to show how you can load up in an emergency when a friend comes to your rescue. That being said, I hauled my bike just like this, with these exact straps and no chock from Atlanta to Ft. Worth Texas without any problems.

Yep! And a better way would be to strap the bike onto the roof. This way, while driving, he can hold the bike securely with his left arm. This is called "the mattress technique"
Thxs man, glad to see it loaded correctly. No long winded video, plain and simple! thxs again!
I will be putting my bike on a trailer soon and I bought a ramp. My wife suggested buying a second ramp and now I've find your video using 2 ramps. I'm going to get a second ramp. Your vid made it look so much safer than trying to step up onto the trailer while holding the bike. This is the first video I've seen (and I've watched dozens) that used 2 ramps. And I picked up other tips as well that I hadn't seen on other vids, like the strap over the hook and in gear and using the clutch. Thanks for the video mate.
Great tips - thanks for making this one! I like the tip re keeping the bike in gear when rolling back down the ramp to stop back wheel from turning if required!
Excellent video! I really like the fact that you did not do any BSN around and got right into the topic. You showed me some new ways to secure the bike with straps and those are very valuable. Delighted to have discovered your Channel!
I've been loading Dirt bikes and Harley bikes since probably before you were born, but you taught me several things here today ! I always attached the top of my straps to my handlebars. On dirt bikes it was easy, but on my Harleys I had to use smaller loop straps on the handlebars and then attach the normal hold down straps to them, and being Harleys without much space on the handlebars it was still sketchy. I never thought about putting the straps around the Triple Clamps ! And the trick of taking the strap around the triple clamp and fork and then looping it over the hooks so you don't need the smaller loop straps,, Man, that is Genius. And I never thought about running a strap around the front and back tires to keep the bike from bouncing. Thank you so much for teaching this old dog new tricks ! I guess I am just dense. LOL.I always have had issues trying to secure my Bikes to my Motorcycle lift. Now I have your method and everything will be much better. And yes, I always had problems with the front tire skidding on the way down the ramps, so your idea of putting the bike in gear and using the clutch as a backup to the front brake is a great addition to your method. Thanks a million !

Thank you. I'm glad you were able to use some of my tips. Thanks for watching, Pauly
Excellent video. Never done this before, and was kinda nervous after watching all of the idiots on the Motorcycle Ramp Truck Load Fail videos... Super helpful video, man. Thanks.
Thanks Pauly! I have to do this for the first time tomorrow & you vid just showed me how! I love the strap loop part! I have no idea how I have NEVER seen that simple trick before!! anyways wish me luck, & again THANKS!
Great video! I have used trailers, pickups and vans for transporting bikes for years, but I learned some good tips. Thanks
Best video I have seen on this procedure. Thank's for posting!
Great vid for those that only have basic straps most vids dont have these instructions. My ramp is about half as long and twice as steep as a result. Tried walking it up and almost had bike flip on me. Just hit the break lowered it down and decide to just ride it up which is much easier. Maybe easier to walk it up on shallow ramp but will be hard to keep up with bike speed on a steep 1 and ones that are hard to walk up like mines.
Great informative video. Just bought a new motorcycle that isnt registered yet so I needed to know how to do this. I like how u didnt use a chalk block as most other videos do.
I need to get out there, get on my bike, and go for a ride. Thanks for the video. I like the idea of cross straps for both wheels.
Thanks for making this video! very informative. I never knew you could secure a strap like that.
Thanks so much! I look forward to your videos, especially at Christmastime! I can see we need some good straps, just in case!
Dude! You put that bike in your truck quite gracefully!
Awesome video! Like how it's geared toward people who don't have an ideal set up. Sick defender as well!

Thankyou for this excellent video. Just started riding again after a 15 yr hiatus & bought a large bike that required me to go & get it with a cargo van that I rented for the occasion. I've never done anything like this on my own, but thanks to your video, I managed to pull it off without dumping the bike. Again, my thanks.

Best loading video and I've watched several. Loading single-handed, without chocks, and with a large heavy bike. Now do it with a 5 foot bed tacoma ;)
Great video! I learned a few thing on how to bring up a bike by urself and how to secure it. Great strap trick. Thank you!!
Great video! You covered and provided all the tips that needed to be covered. Thanks!
I twisted my knee 2 weeks ago and while I have 95% motion back it is still not steady. Seeing you do this with your limitations gives me some confidence.
Thanks for the helpful advise on loading a motorcycle! And love the truck as well!
Just one more reason why JP is an awesome company
Exactly what I needed to know Pauly. Thanks!
this method might work for a lot of people but definitely involves too much risk compared to sitting on the bike while having two ramps put together so you can drive on the middle area while having both of your feet on the ground(ramp).
Great video, was very helpful. Also reminded me I've been wanting to wrap my headers.
Pauly, great video!!! Man, I learned a lot!
This guy is too cool, down to earth guy. !
thanks. going to pick up a bike and will be using this method.
Good, realistic video for bike loading. Minor point: you will not blow out your seals by compressing the suspension. The springs, not hyd fluid, hold the bike up.
Thank you so much for this!
Every time I see a motorcycle in a pickup bed I think to myself “getting that thing up there must have been sketchy af”. After watching a pro do it I now realize I was precisely correct! Seriously though, some excellent tips. Still, I hope I never need to do it.
Thanks. Very useful instruction.
You make it look easy. Nice bike !
Awesome video man! Thanx.
The critical point is to get your MC up the ramp, a big tip for this is to use lots of throttle and quickly let go of the clutch when the bike is on the ramp. Since stress is a big factor for failure you'd need some relaxing music while doing this, my recommendation is Frank Sinatra - Fly me to the moon. Don't forget to upload to youtube if you record it!
I like to double up on the straps that are attached to the forks that way should one fail, the backup will keep the bike from tipping on its side.
You make it look easy. I’m picking up a 1200cc Kawasaki and wondering if it’s too heavy for this
Good on ya👍 way to go with two ramps.👍🇬🇧
i have seen far, far, FAR too many pickup trucks with bent truck beds rubbing the truck cab because they load their bikes and taco the truck bed with the front wheel. i think it is much safer to park with the front tire put into the corner of the truck bed. i have also backed up into a small hill and driven my bike straight into the truck bed. also used a loading dock a few times behind k-mart/safeway to load & unload my bike. alot of those are made away from the building with lots of room.
Love watching the clips where they farqed up load and unloading bikes.
Whoa dude! do you tie it up so that it's angled like that with the kickstand out!? Won't your kickstand get all bent up? Great strap securing techniques! Thanks for the great video!
Great Video! thank you
liked the unload tip .. leave it in gear to act as rear brake..nice

Thanks a lot for going through a dead bike, more confident I can get mine back from my folks garage.
where did those ramps come from, I bought some and with the bike(Triumph 475lbs) it put a real strain on the ramp hinge, cant use again.
Awesome tutorial. What length are those ramps?
What size is that bed? I have a 5ft7 in my Ram, and am looking for a new bike. Thanks for the video!
Be sure to secure the straps so they can't get between box and cab, when it wraps around drive shaft all hell will brake lose!
great video!!!
THANK YOU for mentioning the tailgate. I wouldn't be able to remove-reinstall my tailgate on my own. I'll just get a strong piece of wood and put it upright on my jack. Give the tailgate support it needs.
@jackclark1994

you can buy tailgate supports that latch into the existing latches on the tailgates, that way you don't risk denting your tailgate. www.google.com/aclk?sa=L&ai=DChcSEwiH9KDilcvtAhXPwMAKHaJDB14YABAGGgJpbQ&sig=AOD64_2OVg9tkbGwEmluL3uqj8TuKj9-lA&ctype=5&q=&ved=2ahUKEwiPtpjilcvtAhVRLK0KHczXCgUQ9aACegQIBhBE&adurl=
Gr8 vid thanks.
Excellent
I have never agreed with strapping the bike down tight on the side stand. The suspension should take up all the bouncing and jarring as you travel down the road, the side stand is not intended for this. The straps are plenty strong enough to hold the bike upright. You mentioned that you usually use a front wheel chock, obviously if the front wheel had been in a chock you would have had the bike upright and not on it’s side stand which is the way I do.

I need to buy a second ramp, but don't need those soft straps. Thanks!
KZread, please make this the top result for searching how to tiedown a motorcycle into the bed of a pickup.
Alright! Thanks ...
Get a pair of axle straps to run through the tree. Good video.
How do you pull it down with bike turned off?
I think i have the same ramp. 90” x 12” each ramp. Arched.
Normally when you loading a bike its not running but this was useful
Thats nuts how many btu that bike.
My bed isn't large enough now what do I do?
Nice video, been there and done that, recommend a spray in liner to help it from sliding while unloading. Quick question, what kind of bags are those?

This is fine but if the rider miss judge is the clutch or gas or slips the bikes going down I don’t wanna take this risk so I use a winch
You are one badass!
I've always been told to NEVER tie the bike down with it on the kick stand !!!

Thanks dude. Good info & video. But, no way my bike will ever fit in the back of a pickup truck. It'll be okay... it's a Honda! I'll just ride it where I need to go. ;-)
Wow, very helpful video! The bike fits in the bed with so much extra room. Is that a 6 ft bed, or is it bigger?

I've seen it done, but haven't done so myself. I know the tailgate wouldn't be able to close.
Isn't there a risk of the kickstand breaking in travel?
@jpcycles
7 жыл бұрын
Once the bike is pulled towards the right side with the strap, pressure on the stand is limited. I leave the stand down and the bike leaned as a back up just in case of strap failure. I have never had a stand break, but there is a risk of just about anything happening.
cool
I'll never understand tying down on the kickstand.
I don't agree with strapping the bike down where the suspension can't move. Strap upright off the kickstand and below the shocks.
Thank you. Now i need a bike. :)__.ooOOOO00
This looks like an 8 foot box truck. As such, the tail gate can be removed. Shorter bed trucks can't do this. The real wheel rests on the tailgate. Sadly, most new trucks are not built with 8 foot boxes.
I have been taught you never transport a bike resting on the jiffy stand, (kick stand). Going over bumps you CAN bend the jiffy stand. Just saying.
@jpcycles
8 жыл бұрын
Once the bike is pulled over to the right hand side, there is not much pressure on the jiffy stand. I leave it down as a fail safe in case a strap should break or come loose. As mentioned in the video, you should strap the rear wheel to prevent hop if the stand is down. I have always done it that way and have never had any damage. Thanks for watching.
Why do I feel like this looks a lot easier than it actually is.
@jpcycles
6 жыл бұрын
It's pretty easy. I was doing this with less than 40% use of my left arm and a torn ACL. Should be a breeze for an able bodied person.
