How To Line A Vintage Suitcase | No Sewing Needed

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

This is a quick tutorial on how to use fabric to re line a vintage suitcase. I often paint these fun little cases and make them into tables. This lining inside is the first to go - it's smelly and usually stained.
It's a simple no sew process to reline the interior, and this video will show you how. For a tutorial on how to paint this case you can watch here. It was painted live on Facebook using a Inspo Box from Dixie Belle.

Thanks for listing materials and amount of fabric. Gives me a better idea of how much to buy when I am ready to restore.

I love all your videos but this one helped me so much, thank you! I think I am going to try the spray adhesive for the bigger flat parts, too bad Dixie Belle doesn't make that, lol.

I love the end result especially the hot air balloons. and the black and white interior was a wonderful crisp visual relief from the dark blue. Did you paint them or decoupage? Either way, it is stunning. I also absolutely adored the suitcase table with hair pin legs. Why did you choose to make the fabric loose on the sides rather than tight like the ones you put on foam board? Is there an advantage? My daughter and son- in-law are architects and they said one of their tricks in design studio is cutting each piece as you need it instead of doing all the cutting and then all the glueing etc. Just thought I would share, I hope you aren't offended. :)) Your workmanship is outstanding as is. I have an old vintage hat box suitcase and it is plain black leather and in startlingly good condition, even the light blue lining. Somehow it doesn't even smell strange or have an odor at all. I know it isn't a later reproduction by the type of buckles, hinges and the leather trim is appropriately worn for something so old. I think about redoing it but it is in such good shape it seems a shame. Then again it isn't valuable at all. I would love to have some white stripes on it as black and white look pretty in my Miles Redd inspired decor. I would probably reverse your design with the black & white stripes on the outside and a pattern inside. I would love your opinion. :))

Thank you! It was just easier to do the sides with a glue gun folded over the curves.

Glue gun is really not the best in this situation. It would have been off temperature by the time you joined the 2 surfaces, I'd put money on this all coming adrift within a week. The base pops up before your eyes. Probably a contact adhesive or Mod Podge.
