    One of the best videos I've seen so far. Plus all the materials with links to purchase are in the description. A+ my man! I'm currently doing my third house subfloor leveling so a laminate floor can be installed correctly. If only I found this video on house one it would've made my life easier. Nice job! I liked the spiked roller you use at the end. I used self leveler over OSB in a small bathroom and even though I used the maximum amount of water specified it didn’t get completely level even though it had the same consistency and flow in your demonstration. It needs the small amount of agitation the roller creates.

    I think it agitates the leveler, and breaks the surface tension allowing it to roll out more evenly. It probably pokes air bubbles out too.

    Hi Scot, very good question! It’s hard to find best choice, because you need materials with good film tension. Otherwise it can be lead through the holes. I would spend time to feel up this holes wit caulk, let it dry and then to do level. Thanks for watching and commenting!

    Привет гроза рейволюции, прикольное название! When you apply primer, it’s protect plywood from water absorption.. About how big capacity of concrete you can add to wood subfloor at second floor. All structures of house calculated by some weight over, and if you have a look on apartment buildings with wood structure, there is for fire protection a lot of concrete on subfloor. And nobody worried about it. You can add concrete within a reasonable. If it’s 1 inch or 2 - not a problem, but if it’s more, you have to talk with building department in you city. Just think about how heavy furniture when you bring at home a how light concrete will be compares with it. Thanks for your question and watching!

  • @medavis

    @medavis

    2 жыл бұрын

    It really just needs to be flat. Being off-level isn't going to affect your floating floor, but not being flat definitely will as you'll have voids or high spots under the vinyl. Over time, gravity and foot traffic will cause problems in areas with voids. Think joints coming apart, popping, squeaking when you walk on it, etc. Level probably more has to do with the foundation and/or framing of the house. Yeah, you could try to make the floor perfectly level, but you'd likely have to level across the whole floor of the home. But what's the point? Unless it's so unlevel that you can sense it when walking around, as if you were walking up/down hill, you won't notice any benefit. Worst case scenario, you level the floor and wind up with one side of the home having 9 feet distance from floor to ceiling, and the other side having 8 feet and X inches from floor to ceiling. That said, if your floors are way off level, then that's going to make applying a self-leveler like this pretty tricky! But I'm guessing that's not the case, otherwise the place probably needs to be condemned.

    @@medavis Thanks, Michael. Yeah, we spoke to contractor and a friend who does floor installation. Both said same thing- only needs to be FLAT. Nothing sticking up more than 1/8 of a inch. They said unless you're doing some high end home, it doesnt make sense to level since we would have needed about 40 bags of cement! so we only "leveled" one small transition area and "rode the wave" of the rest of floor. Turned out great!

    Привет, все выравнивающие смеси по консистенции и по наличию компонентов разные. Есть такие, которые можно использовать при минимальном количестве воды и они слабо растекаются (Сика),есть которые адаптированы к использованию большего количества воды - Мапей например, который я использую в моей работе. На 3 мешка смеси использую 5 галлонов воды.При таком объеме воды смесь лучше растекается, легче работать с игольчатым роликом ну и время схватывания увеличивается.Если ты работаешь с другими смесями, нужно экспериментировать, потому что при большем количестве воды, когда мало пластификатора в смеси, крупные компоненты оседают вниз и при застывании поверхность смеси будет мягкой и рыхлой, непригодной для использования.

I must have some sagging joists because when I put 8ft level next to exterior wall and lay it to joist in center of room, the bubble is level but there are low spaces in between. I cannot permanently raise the sagging joists from basement because I cannot jack up floor where there is no footing.
