How To Level & OverSeed A Lawn : TimeLapse

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

#levellawn #oddlysatisfying
I use a mix of fine rye grass seed and 70% sand with 30% soil to overseed and level my lawn. The lawn is approx 80 sq meters and this topdressing job was completed over two days but can be done in one day to get a perfect level lawn.

Nice attempt, but...if you want a golf course level lawn do what golf courses do. Use a 1mm or 2mm screened course sand and use quite a bit more than this guy. I've leveled many dozens of lawns, some using up to 20 tons of sand. Using a leveling product with anything but sand is counter productive. The organic matter will break down and you'll have an uneven lawn again. After you level it, use a shop broom to work the sand down. Put down a good fertilizer to force the grass to grow threw the sand. Unfortunately you really need to pick leveling or over seeding.

If you are building up larger levels topsoil can be best to establish a level in the first place it can also be easier to grow seed in if you can't stay ontop of your Watering. If the garden is already mostly level the 70/30 is alot easier to spread and level fine spots out, more attention needed for Watering if you are overseeding too

Probably a very basic question, but how meticulous are you about keeping off a newly seeded/over seeded lawn (when watering for example)? I’m guessing the seed will be robust enough to stand up to some tread (moving sprinklers around etc), just not frequent use?

@@GardenLawncareGuy Thanks for the reply. It’s not very level ATM, got a few dips to level out. Will try 1T to take out as much as I can and do the same next year. Also need to get treatment down for leather jackets. Intending to apply that as I’m watering during the week or two after renovation. Is this a good/bad idea? My thinking is the treatment will work as the seeds are germinating and trying to combine the watering required for both.
