Nice explanation! One of the most annoying feelings in an excavator is the rocking. Nothing a little dirt can’t fix 👍🏻

I HATE watching operators that sit there and rock back and forth. It's such an easy fix and half the time they are banging the machine around because they aren't compensating for the rocking the machine is doing. As always, thanks for watching man!

@@cameroncovington5705You don't need to be 100% level but you are far more efficient when you aren't rocking back and forth while trying to grade or load trucks.

It seems so easy when you explain it all like that. I'm sure it still takes time to perfect, but that's a big head start going in the right direction. 😊

Once you learn the mechanics of these machines it really becomes quite easy to operate them. It just takes seat time to really understand how you can utilize the equipment.
Love your advice

I dig the “grading” bucket. Is that bolt on and removable or welded?
@DieselandIron

It's welded to the teeth. They typically grind the welds to remove it
Random question, i am planning to retire from the Canadian navy soon, would you recommend Heavy machinery Operator for second career at 45 years old? cheers

Now, with my passion for the equipment industry I might be a little biased, but YES! If you are choosy and do some homework you can really find a company that will work with what you are trying to accomplish. If you want to fill in 2-3 days a week here and there you could look for a smaller residential company and work something out with them. If you want to go full time the industry is always looking for additional operators. If you go into the union you will need to work for 5 years to get vested but once you do you'll have a second pension to pull from. It really depends on what you want to do with it. Yellow iron rocks and I'd never turn you away!
I’m in highschool and thinking a lot of getting into excavation after I graduate working for a company. What would you say is the best way to go about getting into the industry and getting a job at a younger age. Thanks🇺🇸

Lift one track up off the ground and track forward and slowly let down the machine at the same time then turn around and do the other track, if it’s tipping forward just do that then drive on the mound you just made in front of the tracks. 10/10 works great every time

Weld a piece of steel across your teeth. It works great and you can pop it off of you need to use your teeth on a job.

Would I get shit for taking a long time to level out or is this a skill that takes time for even seasoned operators?

If you are in a situation where you are loading lots of trucks or you need to dig from a level platform you will not get any crap for taking a few minutes to level yourself out.
