Excellent video. 17k per month to sit in a home. Once the kids are gone. What's the purpose? You're on the right track! We have a great lifestyle here in our home in Colombia for about $2500 CDN per month! Of course our house and properties and farm don't have mortgages. .Although we don't travel international now. However, I spent my entire career traveling while working for airlines in different countries. The airline IT business and expat lifestyle was great. I saw the writing on the wall for Canada back in the early 90's. I think more Canadians are waking up to other global lifestyle possibilites now.

When I was living in the Philippines, I met a couple of Canadian tourists and started chatting. When they learned that my wife and I lived there, they said they wished that they could as well. I asked them what’s stopping that? They hesitated and responded “nothing, really”. When we left Canada we sold our house and about 15,000 pounds of stuff. We went back to what we owned when we were 20 years old. It was freeing.

Thank you Jill and Randy for sharing all this information. You are so authentic and real. Loving your videos and adventures. On the other note it all seems what is becoming business and income for nomads and people traveling is to teach others how to do it and make income on these referrals and know how's all around and couching and selling lifestyles. There is flooding people into countries and collecting different residencies cards and passports and properties. Some new immigrants to Canada posted on their videos all this hardship and selling dreams in their videos and high prices if they are just starting and making money of immigrants with resumes, referral fees and know how's. Feels a lot like "The secret" videos, manifestation, law of attraction, couching hooplas and MLM marketings and rich dad poor dad era of flipping things rehashed and reassembled all over again. Way of life to see what sticks and works till it dose not or they change rules and or put obstacles in as wee saw so many times. Enjoy traveling and living your dreams and thank you so much for sharing. 💛

@@rockinrodlittle #1 issue for me here in Canada is healthcare, I have paid into it all my life, I am now 64 and may need the very system I have paid into and I feel I will be treated like crap, we spent the last 3 years in Penticton BC and have only had a doctor for 1 year, she is an immigrant, I can not pronounce her name at all, not being prejudice, but she does not seem to give a rats ass about me or my wife, she will most likely leave her practice at a whim like the last doctor did, the work ethic of new doctors is horrible here in Canada, we have created a system where they get away with crappy service, in Thailand where we spend a lot of time it is completely different, as is Mexico and Spain where you can tex your doctor directly, and get a response, we got dental care ini Thailand for 1/5th the cost of Canada, no attitude at all, no upselling or lies about procedures we did not want or need, I would never return to a dentist again in Canada, it is a total rip off. I still love Canada, but more for the Canada it used to be, not the Canada it has become, planning to sell everything this summer and leave, invest all our money (close to 2 million) and live off the interest/dividends, taking CPP and OAS this January, planning to become a non resident for tax purposes to save on taxes. I do not blame the current government for our issues in Canada, this has been coming for a long time, the older people that have paid for the system all our lives are really getting screwed, it is so sad

EXCELLENT video you 2!!!! We are literally sitting on our couch in Penticton BC, in our $800,000 condo, with over 1 million invested, thinking we could have close to 2 million if we sold our townhouse, and travell full time, staying in places for 3-6 months at a time, and have NO WORRIES!!!!! We hate leaving every winter to Thailand or other places to escape winter, coming back to our house and needing to do many things to upkeep the property, not to mention the asset is making us ZERO every month, unless it goes up in value, which it has over the last 3 years, but I also fear the real estate market in Canada has hit a peak and may crash, who knows.

Fast travel, is fun but exhausting too. Eventually you need to slow down. We started slow travel in KL, Malaysia where we stayed three months. This type of travel really agreed with us in every essence. We started to think "Could we live here" ? We looked at some real estate again, but, but, but...what else is out there? Hi. We regularly have friends from Canada fly out to join us. I just had a good friend join us for two weeks in Cabo, for some golfing. We will be getting together in September for a golf trip to Scotland. We also meet so many like-minded people during our travels. We have made so many new friends. As far as languages go. We can get by in Spanish. But we want to get much better. Thanks so much for watching our videos and taking the time to respond.

Holy Smokes 😮 it’s like watching my parents do the right thing! I grew up in Victoria and now live in Montreal. I’m 38 and wholeheartedly building towards getting out of Canada. I see you folks are matured and have kids. You “built your empire” in VIC and raised a family … so you have a house. Assets. Etc. I am still building my life at 38 and have never felt able to fully commit to this American grind and build a solid business to afford getting “out”. Do you have any advice for a younger guy wanting to do what you’re talking about, who hasn’t yet bought a huge house or developed a strong portfolio? Inspiring guys. You literally look like my parents whose house looks like yours including the goldens ! 🐕 Cheers.

I think the main advice we would give to people who are not quite ready to retire would be. Find some type of work, or take the training, that allows you to work digitally anywhere in the world. We met so many people who had left the US Canada, and so on, doing just that. Some had even started very successful businesses. The one thing they all seemed to have in common, was happiness. Thanks for watching our videos and taking the time to respond. Over the next little while we will be speaking with some of these people, and hopefully having them on our channel, to discuss how they did it. Stay tuned.

Of course because of your house in BC, you have an advantage, my house in the east of canada is worth almost 400k, so of course to be able to do what you do, i will need to invest, but i need the capital first, so will work on that and probably invest in real estate, its not as easy as it was 10y ago. Great video. my experience is very similar with some differences. I sold everything and have lived in Mazatlan for about 2.5 years. I got 4 year temporal residency which is much easier to get, ( I did it in one day in mexico) although this may end at any time. I love it here and do not desire to travel, but have met many people that do want to travel. I think your cost per month for 2 people is a bargain for world travel staying mostly short term, and also with the flights and health insurance. I have lived in mazatlan from about $2,000 Cad a month to about $4,000 a month depending on my accomodations without health insurance or flights for one person.

Really great and informative presentation. I appreciate your honest approach to numbers. However, there will be tax implications of that extra income. Some people like traveling. Some don't. Some are not sure. The last category might end up regretting the decision if it gets tired of traveling. Then, coming back and buying back that house could be impossible. Unless bubble bursts. This is not criticism of the idea or the video itself. Just my thoughts.😮

It's all about value. We were driving from the Baja to Las Vegas, to meet Randy's son and this where our flight originated from. Our flight was on Qatar Airlines was $450.00 taxes included each to Cairo. We also flew from Amman Jordan to KL Malaysia for $425.00 Texes includes All the island flights ranged from $16.00 - $150.00 So,google flights is amazing once you understand how to use it. Every where has cheaper flights than Canada! Our cell phones - was like 10.00 each - unlimited. We rented a scooter for 7 dollars a day. Uber, Grab ...are like $2.00 - $8.00 ...so so cheap. Thanks for sharing your experiences and real numbers! For sure I missed the following portion of info from your previous videos, so is that correct: you've got rid of Canadian residency and "tax_residency", but kept Canadian citizenship and obtained Mexican permanent residency? Right? If so, why do you need Mexican permanent residency, just to be able to stay longer than 60 days if needed? Can you still collect CPP, etc.? Medical insurance + evacuation to what country (since you're not eligible for Canadian helthcare after 6 months)? Looking forward to the new video. Thank you.

You need residency in another country before you can give up your Canadian residency. And yes we still collect CPP and OAS. Try to check out our previous video , And stay tune for our next one on healthcare.

Do you come across Canadian families with young children in Mexico? Family of 4, if we sell our house net worth similar to yours. We both work remote, but that's not guaranteed if we leave Canada. Market returns should provide more than enough based on your lifestyle. We want out, but are more concerned about our children having peers and growing up in Mexico vs Ontario. Ages 5 and 2. Let us know if this demographic hits your radar, or mostly retirees. Thanks in advance.

Hi there, Yes we do! There are some great International schools here in Mexico and great expat communities. Also, in Phuket Thailand , Bali Indonesia , KL Malaysia, all have fabulous international schools, expat communities and great hospitals. In KL, everyone speaks English and luxury is affordable. The hospitals are absolutely unbelievable! The cost of living in Mexico has really jumped, as the mighty Mexican peso has knocked the crap out of the Canadian and US dollars. So, it's not so cheap anymore. We are going to check out Spain and Portugal too.The hospitals, schools make Canada look so poor. We really noticed just how far Canada has fallen through out our travels. Thanks so much for watching and subscribing. We really appreciate you taking the time to write. Stay tuned! Maybe we will start adding, what it would be like for young families ... and touch on this subject. We have had many people asking. Cheers, Jill

Thank you for the response! We just vacationed in the Playa del Carmen area. If I were to start researching family friendly / ex pat communities, could you recommend where to begin? No rush and a video on this would be really helpful. I like the idea of liquidating, investing and living off the returns to fund lifestyle. That would mean renting a family home. A video on home rentals would be interesting. Thanks!

@@Fatherchristoph My wife and I have spent 6+ months in Playa on multiple occasions - most recently this past winter with our (then) 7month old son. We have our residency in MX as well. Our plan all along was to do Playa as our full time home - but now that we have a son - it has changed our outlook. We are not exactly sure if Playa is the place for us to raise our boy. Its a tough choice and hard because the culture is so different. Growing up I played baseball, hockey, and other sports that you don't really find in Playa. Activities are really centered around the ocean and the beach etc. I love the Mexican people and the simplicity of life there - but also worry that my son will miss out on other things that I enjoyed growing up. Whatever you choose I wish you the best!

Great video! The income you're getting monthly, you mentioned from investments - is that from dividends? You had a beautiful home by the way.

Great video, guys! When you discussed the permanent residency by savings, can you pls clarify if the requirement is to keep a USD$293k investment account in Mexico, or simply to show that you have those funds in a Savings or investment account in Canada. If it’s the ladder, would funds in a RRSP qualify? Thanks and keep sharing your valuable info!

There is no requirement to have any money in Mexico. And yes our RSP is fine, unless things have changed in the last year and a half. I would recommend speaking with our business manager Claudia. Thanks for watching your videos and taking the time to respond.

Thank you for all the valuable info. Me and my wife are from Toronto and spending the winter months in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico by monthly renting a reasonably good beach Condo. T hat alone cost us about $5,000 US a Month. So your monthly cost of $5200CND with all traveling is so good. How much your monthly stay in Mexico cost you? Thanks

Hi there. Mexico has gotten ridiculously expensive. We pay 2000 a month for a two bedroom condo in San José del Cabo. Mind you that is April May June , Which is shoulder season. A nice two bedroom condo down here in the high season will run you 2500 to 3000. That is if you know who to talk to. We have been coming down here for seven or eight years and know people. 5000 seems a little high. Unless it is really spectacular.

Thank you so much for helpful reply. How safe is San Jose de cabo, and medical facilities. Can you share with us the location you are renting? Is it by the beach? Can you share info of some contact for rental. The price you quoted is US $?.Thanks 🙏

You calculated loss of return on investment…. No appreciation on the property…. Not saying it would change your mind…. I’m looking at doing the same thing in about 3 years…. Also from Victoria :)… PS you did later speak to property appreciation..

Hi. Thanks for watching our videos and taking the time to respond. Yes, like I said there is no guarantee of appreciation on your property. I firmly believe real estate globally is going to fall.
