I just "discovered" Ed Solomons recently here on YT. By far the best instructor as far as clear, concise and accurate explanations of the many nuances of shotgun shooting.

Absolutely fantastic these little videos. Would love to meet Johnny, ed and team! I’ve stopped listening to people about what lead is on a target. To many variables. Everybody sees targets differently like you have said! Followed you peeps for last five years. Very entertaining and such great advice. I am on a club shoot weekend in the Cotswolds in a couple of weeks time will be thinking a lot more how I approach targets in the stand. Ps both my barrels are 3/8 chokes to take out mind games. Most I would ever step up to is 1/2. Keep up the good work!

Great video and excellent instruction. I hate to say this but 80% of instructors I've used were very poor at explaining all this. They talked about lead but could not answer any questions about what it meant. This guy did. I would suggest what instructors need to do is follow what Ed did. Get people to deliberately shoot different ways, explaining what they are doing, so they can begin to construct a mental model about the lead and sight picture.

I like using negative lead and pushing through on most targets- so relying more on gun speed vs lead, i find on low fast crossers you have no time to work out lead at all, it's one of the most personal sports what works for one feels foreign to another

Great tutorial. I always find them interesting. I personally prefer maintained lead on any crossing target. Once I see the target slow or almost stop, I send the shot. Also my hold point is much closer to the breakpoint. Little movement without dragging the barrel with the target.

The Ed lessons are great! Is there one that explains sight picture in the vertical plane? I still have no idea what you mean by "flat shooting" or "seeing a lot of rib".... basically it would be great to see what your eyes see, the shotcam is fantastic for lead but I don't fully understand how high my eye should be on the comb.

Would be interesting to see a video on how to choose your method for the different types of targets, and in particular how that might change based on direction of travel. Ie, for me personally (as i shoot left eye closed) anything coming left to right is harder than right to left, as i can't see the target until it's passed me. Rabbits being a prime example.

I think I heard Ed say distance does not matter so much. Hmmm. Shouldn't a clay at 30m need double the lead at 60m? In the same way that a clay at 40mph needs double the lead of a clay at 20mph. (BTW loving being british and mixing m and miles in the sam paragraph and it sounding perfectly all right). I am not sure I was understanding his point here, can anyone explain it to me?

find it weird plus funny on the technique side of things George Digweed 5 times world champ teaches us a great way of shooting a technique that is sound for every target where you don't see any lead its coming from behind the bird pull your trigger on the front edge and boom watch em break. everything else is just confusion
