How to Lead a Horse Up in Hand
Find out how to lead a horse up in hand, a core part of many veterinary assessments and when caring for a horse.
We recommend always wearing a hat and gloves when leading a horse for control or inspection.
Every situation differs when working with horses, and each horse and its surrounding environment should always be taken into consideration when working with them. We recommend always taking the time to consider and be aware of normal behaviour and health ranges for horses within your care.

Thank you. Was wondering how i was leading my horse incorrectly when i have his bridle still on. Your video has just shown me the correct way to hold the reigns when walking the horse
So a stick in case Nibbet is "a little bit lazy in the walk". Well, another way might be to take dear Nibbet back to the field and let him lead his own life. Just a thought.
I love that his name is nibbit
Brilliant! Very informative
My horse walks when I walk, and he follows me because he wants to. Poor Nibbit.
Exact handling of brindle
Western riders use a different technique requiring the horse to walk behind on a much looser rein. The horse is trained to lead in this manner. Too tight a grip cause the horse to pull back.
Get rid of the stick. Absolutely no need for it if you really know what you are doing with horses.
