I show you how I like to layout and start my first rows of flooring. This is usually the hardest part but if you do a good job it makes the rest of the floor go smoothly.

Do you perhaps have a video on how to apply the glue in tricky areas (under kitchen counter edges, etc).

  • @BrentDarlington

It's tricky to not make a mess. We usually just tape areas off. Clean it up with water before it gets too dry. Try a paint brush to spread it. Maybe I will make a vid in the future. Thanks for watching!

When I did our bathroom a few weeks ago... learned real quick not to step in the glue. 🤣 I was stuck and legit had to jump out of my shoes into the hallway. 🤣🤣

lol, I have stepped in the glue a few times. Once it dries you cant see it and forget. I've never had to jump out of my shoes though!

Thanks for the video. Are those underlayment on the concrete floor? If so, how did you secure the underlayment? Why did you apply glues directly on the floor without the underlayment?

  • @BrentDarlington

    @BrentDarlington

The underlayment is over OSB. You can go directly onto concrete, you may just have to do some patching first. I have this video that shows more detail: kzread.info/dash/bejne/fX9_0rGph8nIc84.html

What underpayment are you using? Looked like in your other bedroom video the sheets were pre-marked for where to nail, which leads me to believe it’s specific to flooring. Thanks!

1/4 birch premium underlayment. Yes, made for flooring. May have to go to a flooring store to get it. Sometimes I see it at big box stores but it is only 4' x 4'

I’ve never done an LVP, seems like it could be easier than a snap together laminate though.

It's a lot of work getting the plywood down but it's much easier to lay. Great on concrete, less prep just some patching if it's not in bad shape

These non click planks are more durable too,as opposed to click floors. When water or pet spills get between click floors, they’ll start to swell at seam points. This non click won’t swell, unless its totally submerged,do to hot water tanking blowing. I love these non clicks in commercial grade. Cheers!!

If I have a way to get in & out of the room with glue on the concrete, is it ok to start at one wall or the other?

  • @BrentDarlington

Yes but you will still want a chalk line for the first row. Walls are never straight!

Did you just cross your fingers that the walls were straight? I was halfway through two rooms doing this before realizing I’d be at a 20 degree angle by the time I reached the 4th room. Shit is a nightmare

That's why you try to centre it or just work off a wall or area that you think will be the most noticeable. I usually try to be straight with the kitchen or down a main hall way. Can't win if the walls are way out though

Usually ready to lay in an hour. This glue had an open working time of 10 to 12 hours, I've used glue that was good for 24hrs. Put it down at the end of the day and lay in the morning
