I wanted to share images but realized that youtube has no option to attach images in the message. one more quick question: Today when it rained I saw moisture on the inside of the tiles. does this mean the tiles were cracked and water seeped in or is this normal when it rains? any need to take this up with the tiles vendor? Thanks

    Excellent and neat explanation and informative. I am planning to change the roof in my hometown village house from ODU to this pattern of installing iron rods and put a Asbestos sheet and top of it the odu but from seeing this video it gives me options to use only Mangalore Tiles. This will help to avoid Heat right ? because at present Bamboo Stick and top of it ODU is helping but lot of Termites eating and need to keep watching every year. Please suggest should we use the asbestos sheet and use this tile or just the tile is sufficient ? Thanks..

    Sir: can you please share maintenance requirement for this type of roof? I hear that there can be insect/lizard menace between the two layers of tiles.. Your experience?

  • @shylaishkamath

    @shylaishkamath

    Жыл бұрын

    It has been more than a year, I'm not facing such issues. The laying of the ceiling tiles need to be laid with out any such gaps. Usually, these sort of pests come in through chipped / damaged tiles. Insect / lizard may enter the gaps if the laying is not uniform or even. Another way to ensure that the small hairline cracks are sealed is to coat the tiles with a water proofing coat. Apex ultima tile guard should work. In a double groove roof tile, the gaps between the layer of tiles is very negligible. The best way for you to find out is to go to a tile show room and get it clarified before you make the purchase. Good luck

    Why not using inner layer tiles also so as to prevent heat as well as give roof strength?

  • @shylaishkamath

    @shylaishkamath

    2 жыл бұрын

    I have used ceiling tiles and these are the most durable tiles for inner layer. The combination of ceiling tiles with roof tiles are the best for sound and heat insulation. Roof strength is determined by the reinforcements provided by truss and rafters, incase of Mangalore clay tiles. The cement base tiles might have a higher compressive strength but they aren't good heat insulators. The choice of the material is determined depending on the geographical location.

    Leaking happens mostly due faulty tiles or due to the mistakes in the installation process. Few examples are improper laying, cracked tiles, plastering errors, etc.

    I'm not sure on the load bearing capacity of wooden purlin. Wood is commonly used for roof tiles laying. In this case, ceiling and roof tiles together will be a lot more heavier and costlier too. Seek advice from local fabricators. Use skilled and experienced labour to get the desired result. Good luck!
