Such skill, wisdom, and humility! You are my favorite DIY teacher on KZread!
As a female self learning home renovation, i appreciate you so much!
I love, love, love all of your videos!! I wasn't good in high school and math has been a big downfall most of my life. I did not pass pre-algebra. In fact, I got an F- as a grade if you can believe that. I love DIY projects that I can do as far as home improvement projects go. My favorite store is Home Depot!! Some of my projects have not come out exactly as I wanted them ti come out. Why? Math!! Everything it is Math!! You are the first person wh9 has ever taught me math!! I had tutors, learning books and tools. I even had my brother try and teach me. Nob9dy could get through to me what you have given me in these videos. I am a young 56 and am elated that I finally got the concepts of math down because of you. Keep making these videos!! When I first saw you I thought you were going to be tough and rugged, but your voice is so reassuring it is almost soothing. I feel like I could tackle almost any home improvement job you throw at me. Thank you so much!!
Leah you are pure gold. You've assisted me for several years now. The way she articulates a subject matter. Wow....I'm in a perpetual state of awe.
I LOVE how you taught this!! I've been looking more than 30 minutes, trying to find a simple explanation...thanks so much!!! gia
5 years later and I'm so happy I ran across this. Thankyou!
I'm about to tile my first room, and I'm feeling pretty confident about doing it myself after watching your videos, I want to say thank you for taking the time to post them.

Wow you're amazing. Listening to you explain this in more detail than necessary for me personally was somehow a pleasure. I don't know if it's the way you teach, your tone or the choice of words used.
That's brilliant Leah... I always wondered an easier way to make those cuts... Thank you... :)
I've been looking for this method for years! Brilliant, thank you.

Just about to do some tile work in my entry way and I didn't use this technique when doing my kitchen THANK YOU for this!! Will save me sooooo much time !!
as usual just plain genius you make things so easy to understand the sign of a real pro thank you Leah
I am so glad I've watched your video. I am going to attempt to lay vinyl tiles in my kitchen (black & white, also!), and now I feel a little more confident. So brilliant, and so easy. I would have done things entirely differently, and taken a really long time, and had to swear whilst I went about it 😝, and all of that. Thanks. 💜 🦘🔨🪚
Thanks for the tip. Your videos have been so helpful to me . My house is 110 years old most of the work I do myself if I can . Thanks
Good stuff! I have some 1 metre x 1 metre rubber tiles to lay in my home gym and was wondering how to get the angled ones cut correctly, and you've provided me with the solution. Many thanks!
This is by far the best tutorial on doing this. Thank you!
I'm laying tile in an old house that was built maybe in 1835, and nothing is square. Not the kitchen, the bathroom, the bedroom. Absolutely nothing. Even the counter top is uneven, measuring 23 and a half inches deep at one and, and 24 and three quarters at the other. I refer to it as the Continental Drift. These kinds of techniques help me IMMENSELY. Thank you.

you're very welcome! Old houses are beautiful but can be challenging sometimes...:)
Thank you so much!! I'm doing the bathroom floor, and it's time to cut in from the last tile to the tub, and it has a slight angle I didn't know how to get it cut properly. Great video!!!
Thanks for your video!!! Learned more from your short video than most of these long videos
Years ago I was laying floor tiles in a 100 year old farmhouse I was restoring, everything was basically out of square. I must have sat on the floor for at least an hour trying to figure out how to get that perfect angled fit, believe it or not, your technique is what I came up with (after much head scratching lol). From that point on the floors were a breeze to do! Thanks for another great video and glad to see you are feeling better too!

Hell yea funny I ran across this video I literally just finished tiling some edges on a uneven wall and it took me forever to do it. I was looking for interview techniques when I ran across this video. Tomorrow it will be way easier doing the rest of the walls, thank you for this video
Done tons of DIY, but never tiled. Big job coming up, so good to know this handy.tip. Possibly could be used for wall tiles too, i guess, if spacers are used to support the tiles. Moght give it a go! Thanks for sharing. x
wow amazing i must've watch this about 10 times. im in the process of laying some tiles, and this tip sure will come in handy. Thank you MAM !

Excellent 👍 thank you. Always find solutions on this great channel.
Fantastic! Leah wasn't staggering the tile grain in this tutorial, but if you are using tiles that are all the same color, and you are staggering the grain (every other tile turn 90 degrees) BE SURE you are cutting the correct side of that tile!!!
Great Vid and instruction Leah. Thank you.
You're the best Leah ! Wow, I can't wait to try this when I do my floor.

Hi! I love your videos. They are very clear. I am doing a tile job that has a main room to the right a smaller off center are on the left and a hallway off center to the left. All are visible the instant that you enter the room from the far right doorway of the main room. How would you figure the first tile.
You're amazing! Thank you so much for this trick it has helped me out a lot!!
Super helpful! Thanks Leah!!!
Great tip I always measured each side and marked it on the tile and a straight edge to make my line and cut it with a tile cutter I might try this next time I do a vinyl floor
Awesome! You explain it perfectly & so understandably! Like "How to make cuts in vinyl tile for Dummies!" Thank you so much! I'm a dummy but not anymore after watching your video! Now I'm a pro! Lol. ☆

Beautiful! Thank you so much! Now I am just wondering...Tiles are difficult to cut, so what if I just cut pieces of vinyl to fill in those imperfections? Just choose something with similar color as the tiles?
Awesome! Thanks for your videos.

Thank you So much, I need to do winding stairwell.. I imagine i could use this method. Wish me luck!
I have a room that's only slightly out of square. (Opposing walls are1/4 inch per foot out of parallel). I'm using 3in mosaic, so I think the slight angles would be noticeable. I've been wondering if placing the tiles at a 45 degree angle would be a good idea (?)
Thanks so much! Exactly what I needed to know for my tiling project.

Hi Leah, Quick question, How do you lay cove tile when the wall is out of square? Thanks.
I realize this is an older video but it’s my first time with tile. Do you have to use a new tile for each time your doing a custom cut like this or can you use the scrap? Trying to work my brain around this whole thing :/
Wow.. really awesome..thanks sharing your technical knowledge. you really solving problem with easy manner. Amazing..!

The only thing my sweet Leah forgot to mention is to match up the color tiles with the corresponding blank space depending on the pattern of the layout. White on black, and Black on white, in this case. Other than that, the explanation is spot on. The same thing could be said had these tiles been wood floor boards. I would examine the thickness of the boards as a safe guide to allow for expansion and contraction. 3/4” thick? 3/4” gap...1/2” thick board? , with 1/2” expansion joint, etc. , etc... This expansion gap would be covered by baseboard and or shoe mould afterwards. It is not only easier to do, it is a MUST, according to product instructions and an inspector better see it, or else you are held liable as the installer “who knew, or should have known”. I follow her same instructions and l add a spacer of the thickness of the wood against the wall first, then proceed as shown in the video. This give you the same results as Leah shows, with the appropriate required expansion joint. Hope this helps. Than you Ms. Leah.
This lady is awesome. Thanks a lot!
