As a skipper on Jungle Cruise, I highly advise you to go left, even if you're near the turnstile. The left side of the boats have more capacity than the right side, and everyone always tends to go right. We have to fit groups based on the size of the benches on the right side (center box is about 8, front right side is about 6, right side by the engine is about 4, and the doorway can seat 2) whereas the left side is the full bench all the way from the front of the boat to the rear doorway.

Always go left. This includes Space Mountain, Splash, Indy, Autopia, Incredicoaster, Soaring.... I've been going left since the 80's and it was always the fastest since then. Looks like things havn't changed.

On Pirates the left side always takes longer when they open the extra cue that goes towards the back of the building. When that extra cue is open then the right side goes in much faster. I see you explained that as well :)

Normally that's the case but more recently they haven't been opening it. Additionally they have been making the right side snake down last the door and turn around to enter the building. I still go right everytime tho 😂

It is....and he is....however, frankly, I sincerely miss him going to the Parks with members of FB, or even solo, and simply enjoying things with that spiritual Disney attitude...appreciating the details, the theming, the ambience, the magic....often just going where "The Disney Winds" take him! I look forward to the day we can return to that as the mainstay, and the useful analytics as the secondary, rather than the reverse.

We rode pirates that evening (was great to meet you, David), got in the right lane and experienced a much slower queue like you said. We actually asked the cast member at the front if there was a reason and she showed us they were loading disabled guests into the right side boats.

Your production values are really through the roof since going full time. I really like the balance you have of food/ride/talk/ambiance in the videos lately. I'd love to see a similar dissection of the Incredicoaster regular line vs single rider. My experience indicates the wait times are about the same, but the normal line is much easier to wait in. Your analysis would be interesting.

It's nice to see videos of recent trips, especially since Disneyland is so different now.

I believe they do backdoor boarding(ADA and ETC) on Pirates to the back boats (right side). This probably accounts for the additional wait time.

I have watched so many fresh baked videos that when we were at DL a couple of weeks ago I amazed myself with how accurate my wait time guesses were. Sign says 30 mins? This wait will be 15 minutes tops! I was right every single time lol thank you David!

Something to also remember, on the right side (the back loading boat) might also be the boat that they use to load in the DAS passes that come in thru the exit since pirates is not ADA compliant. All wheel chairs and scooters would come in and park near the back of the exit dock to stay out of the way of guest who are getting off the ride.

My family always had a patern at DL and I still seem to follow it..MS...Adventure land,JC..Bengal BBQ(after the Sunkist juice bar closed..same location btw) and when NOS came along ..Pirates..perhaps because my dad was left handed but I think you're right Dave.we came from Adventure land...I still do it today..but bring Bbq over to Trop hideaway..love this Dave

Take the left side is good advice. I've noticed the same happening on the Rise of the Resistance ride queue as well (when you leave the shuttle and are waiting to be lead into the interrogation room).

I think with Pirates a lot of the "extra time" you're seeing for the door to exit thing is due to that "round about" backing up. I don't know why, maybe it's normal, however every time I've ridden Pirates recently I've always been held up at the bottom of that lift hill before the round about, sometimes for a substantial time. Additionally the last time I rode I went right and can confirm that they loaded a DAS party (who had to come in through the exit vs the front) in my boat actually, so that could explain some of the variances on the whole. Right boat is the "back" boat at load and so if you have a DAS party and it's taking some extra time... It's kind of like Space Mountain and what causes a cascade fail, however you don't have to estop the ride. Also random comment on Indy and Lightning Lane, very rarely do I not see a LONG queue on Lightning Lane for Indy, sometimes to the point where it wraps through Tarzan's Treehouse and towards Pirates. I feel like given how much an x-factor Lightning Lane is that when you're thinking about Indy you may want to factor in that initial Lightning Lane. If it's really growing then you can expect Standby outside to really slog down

Same thing with me in December. There was one line, and it my wife 18 minutes to get on the boat.

This was fun. I learn so much from your videos. I now know about how to judge a line on Jungle Cruise. Left Pirates lane tends to be faster if the line is not going into the New Orleans Square pedestrian walkway.

I've been coming to Disneyland since the 70's. So many things have changed. When I see changes now it's not so bothersome. I would hope they wouldn't do is refurbish to much at one time causing rides to close. Disney, lines are long so plan.

Pirates ride side has the disabled guests, pirates left side has the side of the building if they use it. That extra fast queue on the left side can be used got the LL Experience pass when an attraction breaks down. Jungle Cruise left side is fastest as you are about to board the boat. Right side has to deal with less space and disabled guests.

It definitely does seem like the ride duration on Pirates varies quite a bit throughout the day. Probably happens because the ride vehicles aren’t as controllable compared to traditional dark rides. It seems common to get stuck at the end lift hill for a few minutes.

My observation was that people getting loaded from the exit (DAS pass etc.) were put into boats typically loaded by the right side of the line. Maybe that could account for some of the disparity?

Hi David I believe the right side Pirates is also for handicapped and special needs onboarding the same as you might say It's a Small World where the left side or front side small world is for the same purpose

I usually judge the que on density, but I was quickly reminded recently that all the loading stations may not available. You could probably see them from the entrance, but a ride like Guardians could be down a tower and easily add several minutes to the que.

The most accurate way to tell difference of wait times between Standby and Genie + is to have another, enter the queue at the same time, one on the standby and the other on the lightning lane, each tracking start time, and end time at end of ride, then calculate the difference.

In our camp, in past years we’ve been able to embark on a multi day vacation to the parks while going on other vacations. In our case I believe Disneyland forgot they are in direct completion for vacation dollars. As much as we 🤍 the parks, other experience are winning. To include all inclusive resorts and cruises. As I write this- we are in Miami awaiting embarkation on the Scarlet Lady ship headed to the Caribbean on Sunday. From our observation Disney parks emerged from the trials offering less and charging more. Not good math for us. However, given time I do believe the Disney ship will be righted. Not giving up, just waiting it out, still 😀 - Regards, looking forward to enjoy the parks again in the near future and saying “hello” & thanking you again in person if the opportunity presents itself 😀- C U on the next post at best ✅ , excellent work and efforts 👍

I rode yesterday, and not yet unfortunately

I always go left on pirates and I always tend to check who I would have gotten on behind if I went right. I have always had it be a shorter wait even when I have had to do the extra extended cue area on the left. I know it technically makes it longer but I have never had it actually be that way.

We flew out for 3 days in the parks starting this past Monday. Only thing I noticed is that the app times did not match the wait times until we were, at minimum, halfway through the queue or more. It was hot, busy, and very overwhelming. Overall, was still a blast.

And absolutely the left line at Pirates takes longer than the right side

That's what I heard, as the left lane will extend on busy days & go down a walkway, past doors. So I went right. It even says that on Google.

Hey what's up fresh baked when you're doing your test 4 Line times I feel that in the morning hours if you get there they're going to be a little bit more busier because it's people just getting into the park instead of later in the evening that's when we go we go pretty much every Friday night and we get into the park about 4 to 5 p.m. and sometimes we catch lines really low around that time opposed to if we go in the morning when everybody's trying to run to every line and every attraction just food for thought

Can you make a video segment explaining how long you would personally wait for a ride? This could be broken down by land? For example, if you saw that Space Mountain was posted at an hour - would you wait or would you not wait for that ride in standby?

In retail merchandising, we were always taught that traffic flows to the right.

David what is the possibility of them taking the tree from the AMC Theater and moving it to Pirates if they are going to remove those to beautiful trees?

You get in it....mark the time of the point of entry, and when you load, stop timing.....that's how you know, haha! 😉 Anytime the queue for POTC is moving that well... as in that clip you showed while talking...I'm not concerned.

Last month you had said the right side of pirates was quicker and I squealed because my sister knows differently and we went left every time. It was always significantly shorter. People don’t realize there is a choice and seem to lean to the right.

How to spot an Australian at Disneyland- we drive on the left hand side of the road and stand on the left hand side of an escalator so we naturally prefer to head left.

I went this Tuesday and used Lightning for Indiana, the regular queue was actually much faster and much shorter. However this was after the the ride was stopped for a short while, do they give those in the regular line a fast pass when a ride stops? Otherwise, lighting has ALWAYS been much faster and 100% worth the money 🤣

I think it depends on where in the line you are if you get a M.E.P. (basically any ride fast pass) or not. My theory is that once you're past the L.L. mix point you're getting a MEP out of a break down however not before. After mix they don't know if you had a LL or standby so easier to just give a MEP. Unfortunately the only times I've personally been on breakdowns was on the ride proper (or right at load) so can't really back that up, however it seems logical especially when you factor in that not every ride may give a MEP for a breakdown (for example I was in queue for Casey Jr, it broke, and I heard someone complain/ask for a MEP and the CM said they don't do that there)

So, in your estimation, David, are the standby wait times posted on Genie generally on the level - or has Disney got their thumb on the scale?

Ok wait times aside, what's your footwear like for Disney? I use a decent enough walking shoe, but I find my feet get so painful by the end of day no blisters or anything like that just a pain that requires me to put my feet up. So yeah what's the super secret trick there? Inserts? Copious amounts of painkillers? rest breaks after every ride?

Its funny that I have only ever gone left, I never really thought about it but I am left handed. Maybe that's a subconscious tendency 🤷‍♂

In reality it’s very difficult to determine wait times because they can reconfigure the line in areas you can’t see from outside. You also can’t tell in most cases how many trains/boats/etc are running at any given time.
