THe waffle stitch is a simple 4-row repeat that only requires the knit and the purl stitch. It's not a reversible pattern but the wrong side is quite lovely as well. It's super squishy, moderately stretchy and lays flat - so perfect for scarfs or baby blankets. Here's the repeat:
Cast on multiples of 3 +1
Row 1 (Right Side): *knit 1, purl 2*, knit 1
Row 2 (Wrong Side): purl 1, knit 2, purl 1
Row 3: knit across all stitches
Row 4: purl across all stitches
You can knit the waffle stitch pattern in the round as well. If you understand that it's essentially two rows of a 1x2 rib followed by two rows of stockinette stitch, it should be quite easy for you to adapt the pattern and get creative.

Thank you for this instructive video. It inspired me to make a baby blanket with 100% organic yarn. The resulting blanket was beautiful on both sides and the waffle stitch gave the blanket a lot more loft/insulation than other stitch patterns would.

Very pretty stitch pattern. I love the yarn color in your sample. Really lovely! I think you should tell people about this channel in your other channel because I’m not sure that they know about this great second channel you have. Just a suggestion but I think they would flock over here! Thanks for another great tutorial!😊

What I meant was, you should say in your videos on your main channel maybe at the end or beginning something like: “Don’t forget to check out my other channel Nimble Needles-Two for more great technique videos” or something to that effect. People are really missing out if they don’t know about these videos! They are shorter as well snd perfect for a quick lesson. Just my humble opinion. 😄

Help. I put my knitting down and reversed it. Or I had to pull out a row. Something went wrong. I have unraveled this waffle pattern so many times. I am just lost. I know you had a video on how patterns get reversed, but I cannot find it either.

hm...i am not quite sure what you are talking about. If you are unsure which side is the right side and which the wrong, simply use a stitch marker (or an earring) and attach it to the right side.

@@nimbleneedlestwo I was 4 or 5 repeated rows in, and then my front became the back and my back became the front. I have managed to unravel it to the original front side. Thank you so much for trying to help. I love your videos. They are so very helpful. I'm going to stick with it 🙂- Candy
