How to Knit the Peony & Thyme Fisherman's Rib Scarf

How to Knit the Peony & Thyme Fisherman's Rib Scarf
I was so thrilled to be asked by Lion Brand (one of my very favorite yarn companies!) to create a design with some of their yarn! They sent me some of their gorgeous New Basic 175 yarn, and I thought it would be perfect to use on a fisherman's rib scarf idea I'd been itching to try! I'm SO happy with how it turned out-a beautiful stitch plus color blocking and pom poms turned out to be a great combo! I hope you give the pattern a try, and would love it if you found me on Instagram and tagged me in your Peony & Thyme Fisherman's Rib scarf!
-Anja
Fisherman's Rib two-row sequence:
(Don't forget that the very first row of your project will be the "setup row" where you knit across all stitches. After that, just repeat the two row sequence below.)
Row 1 (wrong side):
*Purl 1, Knit 1 into stitch below, repeat from * until 1 stitch remains. Purl 1.
Row 2 (right side):
Knit 1, *Knit 1, Knit 1 into stitch below, repeat from * until 2 stitches remain. Knit 2.

I like to make a set, scarf and a hat. A 10 US needle is a 6mm in metric , and a size 4 in UK terms. I found a chart that compares the different confusing sizes......yeah

Hi, Ann! Thanks so much for watching! This is a great question! You don’t need to end with a knit row. The knit row is only for the very first row. After that, you just follow the two row pattern and then bind off when your scarf is as long as you want it to be!😄 I hope you love your scarf! 😍

I love your scarf and the pattern. Isn't there supposed to be one row, in fisherman's knit, that has purl stitches in it. You purl into the back of the stitch? I was ronly wondering because other videos did that for this stitch. Personally, I think your pattern is far easier and I love it.

I noticed that your one caption said 'switching between right and left-handed knitting', but you were still working with the same needle (the right needle), and just holding the yarn on your other hand. That's not left-handed knitting, it's continental style (easier for those who started out crocheting, usually, like me. haha).

Very nice video. Thanks for sharing. Instead of pompom(which I am not a fan of it on scarves but I love them on hats), I am going to do tassels which I love. I made lot of scarves with rib stitch. They look awesome. I love cables too. They are easy but you want to pay attention. If you make a mistake, you gotta go back all the way! Do you do sweaters? Can you please make a video of how to make some simple patterns? I am vegan. Its hard to find good sweaters that are not made of wool! Thanks once again.

Is it possible to knit this by using straight point needle?

Meiriana Chen Yes, absolutely! I only used circulars because I love them so much.😄 You can absolutely knit this using straight needles!💕

And your edges are so neat!! I've knitted two scarves and on the knit ends they are neat and straight but on the purl ends they are a bit wonky 😕

@@glendamcglashan985 sorry I’ve responded some years later. I didn’t get a notification but anyway it took a while of knitting every night probably 2-3 weeks including the Pom poms

@@cloudydaez it’s ok. I appreciate you’re responding anyway. That helps to know - I still need to build up the nerve make this version. I made one using the brioche knit version and that took about the same amount of time. I used life lines and glad I did. I would imagine I would do the same if I made Anja’s version. Anywhoo, happy new year and stay safe🌹🌹

@@glendamcglashan985 happy new year to you too let’s hope it’s a better one than last year although it hasn’t got off to a very good start here in Australia. I found this scarf was challenging especially if you dropped a stitch it was very difficult to fix so since then I’ve found another tutorial which knits a one-row repeat, easier to correct a mistake, has neater edges and didn’t take that long to finish. Take a look at this video before you decide to do the brioche scarf. Using this method I’ve done a few scarves and I’ve enjoyed knitting them. Good luck 😊 kzread.info/dash/bejne/g32no5ekqNixYKQ.html
