You are gracious to respond in such detail! Here's the part that gets confusing for me both in the video and in the written response: "Now as you create magic loop you pull the tip of the knitting needle and continue picking second half then last 3 sts of the underarm cast on [ON SECOND SLEEVE?]. Then repeat on second sleeve. [I wonder if you mean FIRST sleeve?]" In both instances I think the confusion comes from less detail about which sleeve is being worked on. In the video and in the written description identification of the sleeves shifts from "first" and "second" to "this" and "other". Thank you SO much for helping me and others learn this technique!

Yes I do mean second sleeve. Maybe this way: Using long cable circular knitting needles - Pick 3+half sts on 1st sleeve, grab new ball Pick 3+half sts on 2nd sleeve, turn and pick up half+3 sts on 2nd sleeve. Grab the first ball and pick up half+3sts on 1st sleeve. Does this make more sense?

Really helpful - Maybe it was just me I could have done with a bit clearer explanation of which way around the sleeves were (start with the armpit work across then back along the other side finishing back at the armpit) but another video helped with that and then I came back here for the rest of the instructions. Thanks

I am about to start knitting the sleeves of my Granito pullover sweater. Thank you so much for your video! I always get nervous knitting sleeves one @ a time, hoping they end up the same length. I knit ALL socks 2@atatime! Why did this never occur to me that I could knit sleeves the same way, whether I knit directly on the sweater or even separately from the body!! THANK YOU!!😅

Great video Barbara! I haven’t knit a sweater in quite a while. Actually I have one where I need to finish the sleeves. I knit them separately but a lot of the technique is the same as for picking up the underarm stitches. I really need to finish it to make my teacher happy. She was always nudging us to finish, lol. Thanks for sharing this with us!!

I think tow at a time is a perfect way to knit for beginners as whatever you do and you do it on both sleeves it will be ok. Well, you have a nice motivation to pick up your sweater. I would love to see it when you finish it

It’s just a plain Raglan style sweater. Nothing impressive. But if I ever get it done I’ll show you! I love 2 at a time except for the balls getting tangled!💕

Hi Barbara, I have only knit sleeves one time before and I knit one at a time. I'm knitting a sweater for my mom for Christmas. I want to try knitting her sleeves two at a time. I love knitting my socks two at a time. Yes, I really think this helped me out. I have 4-5 sweaters to knit for Christmas and I'm hoping to knit your Scarf for 2 people for Christmas. I'm doing a pair your socks for my daughter for Christmas as well. But right know I'm winding yarn for a sweater I'm plaining to knit next after I finish Mom's. Thanks Barbara

@@Knittingilove I get what you are saying but for me it was knit one sleeve and then maybe 3 weeks later I did the 2nd. Knitting my socks two at a time is so much faster, I think. So doing the sleeves the same way will be to and no need to try to remember what I did on the other one. Thanks Barbara, what other tricks do you have for us???

if using interchangeable needles and your line crosses when picking up stitches on the two sleeves, instead of pulling out the needle, unscrew it. Untangled the line crossed and voila. You don't take a chance to lose or pull loose any stitches. Thank you again for this tutorial. I feel more confident to move to making a raglan sweater, I think :}

No, sorry. There are different types of neckline and most to achieve the look will use some type of short row shaping (if we knit in a round). Maybe one day I will make something like that but for now it needs to go on my long to-do-list. Happy that you like this video though. Happy Knitting, Barbara

This is currently the best, most concise tutorial I can find that covers this method. That said, I got a little confused around the half-way point where you are picking up the second half of stitches on each sleeve. Did you skip picking up the underarm stitches on sleeve 2 during the 'pick up' round, and knit them in the second, knitting, round? Also not sure what you did with the second half of the underarm stitches on the first sleeve. The video indicates placing a BOR marker prior to commencing with the knitting round, but I don't see an indication of how the second half of the underarm stitches were handled as you came to them.

Thank you for your feedback and questions. I need to rewatch tutorial to properly answer as I recorded it a while ago. However that being said if I can replay this method in my head….. before you start you need to know how many sts you casted on under armpit area and start picking up sts in the middle of them (let’s say you CO 6 so you mark BOR the way you like marker or progress keeper and pick 3 sts from cast on & knit them if you like or later most pp knit through them and then pick half of the sts of the sleeve… rep on second sleeve. Now as you create magic loop you pull the tip of the knitting needle and continue picking second half then last 3 sts of the underarm cast on …. Then repeat on second sleeve. I hope this helps

@@patzzzzpat I like interchangeable as I can change the tips of the needles I want or even work with on (working) tip bigger and the second smaller for quick knitting. Less equipment to store too. Brands hard to say. I got HiyaHiya as I like sharp tips I don’t touch tips while knitting. Other good brand more expensive is Chiaogoo they have a better cord

It this example you can see that I picked/knitted 3 sts and the rest are only picked stitches therefore to get to the yarn tail from the ball I needed to slip first 3 to get the the yarn 🧶 hopefully that makes sense. I probably could pick up and knit straight away sts from the sleeves is that it’s easier for me that way
