Knit Child Size beanie
Yarn : Dk yarn / light weight #3
Needles : 5.00mm knitting needles (16 inches circular & DPNs)
Cast on 64
Round 1-8 : knit ribbing * k2, p2 *, repeat till end. 64 its
Round 9 : knit k64 + 2 sts . Make extra 2 sts on this round by using the M1 technique. 66 sts
Round 10-28 : k66
Round 29 : transfer sts to DPNs. 3 dpns, 22 sts on each needle.
Round 30 : * k9, k2tog, k9, k2tog , repeat *to on each needle. You should have 20 sts on each needle x3 = 60 sts
Round 31 : k60
Round 32 : * k8, k2tog, k8, k2tog , repeat *to on each needle. You should have 18 sts on each needle x3 = 54 sts
Round 33 : k54
Round 34 : * k7, k2tog, k7, k2tog , repeat *to on each needle. You should have 16 sts on each needle x3 = 48 sts
Round 35 : * k6, k2tog, k6, k2tog , repeat *to on each needle. You should have 14 sts on each needle x3 = 42 sts
Round 36 : * k5, k2tog, k5, k2tog , repeat *to on each needle. You should have 12 sts on each needle x3 = 36 sts
Round 37 : * k4, k2tog, k4, k2tog , repeat *to on each needle. You should have 10 sts on each needle x3 = 30 sts
Round 38 : * k3, k2tog, k3, k2tog , repeat *to on each needle. You should have 8 sts on each needle x3 = 24 sts
Round 39 : * k2, k2tog, k2, k2tog , repeat *to on each needle. You should have 6 sts on each needle x3 = 18 sts
Round 40 : * k1, k2tog, k1, k2tog , repeat *to on each needle. You should have 4 sts on each needle x3 = 12 sts
Cut about 12 inches and use tapestry needle to secure all 12 sts. Make few knots before weave in end.

Thank you Nie! I've only done adult hats (I've only been knitting a couple months,, crocheting for years) so I look forward to trying this. I picked up some of that same yarn on clearance, and it'll make some nice warm hats with the alpaca in it! Have fun in Malaysia!

Hello, your choice of Yarn and the Beanie is Absolutely Cute! It looks like you changed colors and knitted the designs into the Hat. I Love the way the Yarn did that. Can you tell me how many times cast on for a woman's head of 22 1/2 inches? Also, I don't understand adding the two extra stitches after you did the Brim. What did I miss? Thank you for your Help and the tutorial.
could you also use the stopper on the 3 double pointed needles to keep the yarn from coming off till you get to the next needle? I am terrible with getting the count right so wish me luck.
