Thank you for this video. I've never made a sweater of any kind. I tried this and it turned out great. You explained everything so well. I used #11 needles and 6 oz yarn. It is bulky and beautiful. I added more stictches to the sleeves to give it a fuller look. Turned out great! Next time I make one, I will make the front panels wider because I needed to add more ribbing so the sweater would fit my size. I wear a large or xlarge. It is diffenetely a great way to make a sweater and makes it easier to make different kinds of sweaters just from this easy technique. I always wanted to make a sweater but couldn't understand the pattern. Now I am able to understand a pattern better. Again, Thank you soooo much....Oh and I'm 80 years old. But a very young 80....ha!

One trick for those using this cast on method: if u loop the long tail around your needle until you have the same amount of loops as stitches you need to cast on with, then that long piece will be around the right length you need first try. Hope this helps :)

Thank you, so MUCH! This has been the most annoying part of knitting for me- I have never able to get the right length of yard- “until now” it was either way too long, or to short😱 This has worked out marvelously well. THX U!

Wow, I don't quite know how to thank you. You made it seem so attainable and relaxendand FUN! It made me actually try for the first time ever to make something else than just a scarf. I based my cardigan on yours and it has turned out so great! I'm obsessed with it and so proud of myself. Thank you for making the video and your whole attitude regarding knitting 😂 patterns are so overwhelming.

The cast on you're doing is called the long-tail cast on by the way and the "chains/loops" are cast-on stitches, nothing fancy :) Casting off looser makes the edging less tight when you seam, that's why its best not to cast off so tightly! And the curling on the edges is normal if you knit flat in stockinette stitch. Many people add some sort of border to prevent it, but like you said, once you seam it up it's totally fine and goes away

It'd be so fun if you did like a podcast type video, where you show what you've made, some stuff you're working on, projects you wanna make in the future, etc!

I love this sweater. I was going to ask how many balls of yarn to use and thought I’d check the comments to see if anyone else had the answer. I saw lots of comments asking questions that were not answered 😩so did not bother.

Sorry for commenting so much! If you hate seaming, I recommend finding cardigan patterns that don't require seaming. I've done "Lulea" by Amy Christoffers just without buttons

thank you for the tutorial, I finally finished mine, unfortunately, mine came out, kind of small, especially around where the arm stitching is, I use partial wool so I did soak and try to stretch it but it still turned out cute!

It's a long tail cast on. To estimate how much "tail" I'll need to complete cast on, I'll wrap yarn around needle.. once for every stitch needed.

I couldn’t work with that long tail, I think you use about 4 times the length of the cast on for the original requirement of yarn for the cast on, but I would shorten that tail after the cast on, no need for it.

Do you possibly have links to the correct needles? I’ve only ever knit a scarf so I’ve never needed to use these kinds of needles, so I want to make sure I order the right thing. Also, what color/pattern yarn are you using? It’s so pretty! I know it’s the lion brand wool ease yarn but I can’t seem to find this same color anywhere.
