I think my favorite part of each video is when the primer is added. It takes something that might look a little chaotic or unconnected and makes it look like one uniform model. It's like witchcraft, and I'm all for it.

I would love to see a before and after for each model at this exact moment. TBH its the point in my conversions that I look forward to the most ^_^ its the first time I can show it to my wife and she doesn't think it looks like a load of bits of plastic I jammed together =P

I know it's amazing how multi colors and parts can make a model look so disjointed. It's amazing how much color and texture can affect us.

Rusters is an apt name, but I'm certain these guys are just the Blue Man Group in disguise, hiding behind masks and rhythmically cleaving skulls

getting to watch you flip through your notebook at 0.25 speed and pausing on each page was such a treat. You're a wonderful illustrator. Nice work. Good job. You should be proud of yourself, Bill Stuff. also -- my favourite ruster is the wonderful iron-pumpkin-helmeted glizzy-wielder. He's great. They're all great.
Final Fantasy builds would be awesome. I did one late last year where I turned a Dollar Tree Batman figurine into a Black Mage (with a Moogle I made out of beads) and I'm working on a Red Mage (with a chocobo also made out of beads).
Plastic cement usually will bond a lot faster then super glue... try putting a little on both surfaces that you want to mate, and wait like 5 seconds after applying to the second surface before mushing them together. It should take less then 30 seconds for them to stick together, basically permanently ... It may also be that you're just not putting enough PC on the bits. Also worth noting that it could also be an issue with the material of the miniatures... most resins won't react with plastic cement at all but some plastic compositions may have issues as well.

AFAIK Tamiya plastic cement only works on plastic styrene. It won't work on Polyvinyl Chloride (a.k.a. PVC), Polypropylene (the stuff used to make food containers), or Polyethylene (milk jugs, shampoo bottles, hoola hoops, etc.). Styrene has become the industry standard for miniatures, but there's a few manufacturers out there who use PVC and Polyethylene.
@chrowx

Came to post something like this. Tamiya cement needs a few moments to chemically react with the plastic, assuming it's the right kind of plastic like men bls mentions.

Yeah I have noticed with all of these type of cements it's good to let some air get to it first, then put together.

In the UK it's known as Poly cement because of the polystyrene compound. It's available in most modelling shops.
If you ever question if we are interested in seeing you do something or hear you explain something, the answer is always an emphatic yes!
As someone who just finally got into Necromunda and mangled the first ever miniatures (on purpose) for kitbashing, this was really inspirational. Thanks to you I'll try to go further next time around. Thanks, Bill.
I like big goofy looking helmets so I'll have to say that my favorite is the guy with the big bulky bowl helmet on his head, though your helmet-making skills made it hard to choose a single one. Also I love the little Worldbuilding you do as you make stuff, look forward to learning more about the Rust Planet.
I'd love to see you and the other arts and craft channels tackle the 'Shadow of the Colossus' colossi! I think it'd be interesting to see how everyone builds their colossi of choice in their own way! Loved this vid, keep up the good stuff, Bill!
I love the leader knight! I think the skulls look fucking awesome on him, like he hunts Orks or wasteland mutants. Warlord kits I've noticed seem to be all over the place in terms of scale, though. I have a few of their WWII infantry models and they're more inline with 28mm "heroic scale" used by GW, rather than true 28mm. You might want to check out Perry Miniatures since you're there in the UK. They have some fantastic sculpts for kitbashing and you can get boxes of like 40 dudes for $30 USD.
These rusters are great Bill. My favourite is the guy with the thicc armour. Honourable mention to the guy with the glizzy. The bluish skintone is awesome though.

have not watched the video yet, what the fuck
These little dudes look excellent, lots of character to them and their designs, and I am all for hearing whatever stories you have behind your builds.
Enjoyed the episode, thanks for making it. I also found it amusing that yootoob decided to send me a notification that you had uploaded a video when I was already halfway through watching said video. Cheers.
I love the concept and I've been inspired to make my own rusters. I really want to know more of the lore behind them and their planet.
2:41 "I've got bits to play with," kinda like your dad.
Man these look pretty fierce and brutal, awesome! Great kitbash! Must've cost so much patience, that looks super-fiddly. I really like the sketches as well, you're a real artist. I'd like to see you make some more terrain for these guys! Cheers!
Amazing work on these kitbashes! Feel like there is a bit of a post apocalyptic Dark Souls vibe to the designs which I was digging a lot, and your handling of those tiny bits of plasticard was masterful 😲 Can't wait for the 2nd team!
Glad you’re back and feeling physically better!! I think the boss ruster is my fave, tbh. As much as it may pain you to hear it, you’re quite inspiring!! Also excited to get that mug for myself on payday but if anyone asks I’ll deny it
15:48 - You should look at the weapon packs for the Cawdor Gang in Necromunda for several types of pole-guns if you have need for ideas like this in the future (not saying to get the pack, but look at the designs). No idea why Eric calls them that though.
4:49 Back in the 70's, I used to enjoy Dick Emery; but the doctor told me that I had to give it up, or else I wouldn't be able to keep me bitz. The Patreon Dino-monsters are a wonderfully weird collection. All the best with getting over the Covid and the Electricians. The Rusters look great.
Love the episode. I’ve only started building things both from scratch and kits for ~2 weeks now, and I love learning and getting inspired for what stuff I’d like to tackle and try I’ve been artistically inspired for the first time in ~half a decade thanks to channels like yours. Binging your content over the past few weeks has been a treat, and I can’t wait for more

Great to hear!
They look like the new ash wastes necromunda nomads !!! Some of those ride huge insects, maybe you could convert one of the riders, that´d be cool
I'm so sorry your whole family got the rona! That really sucks. I hope everyone's okay. Misfortunes aside, I quite enjoyed this episode! I feel like the Rusters would be weirdly chill once you get on their good side, and probably make you fancy little sandwiches with the crusts cut off.
The Rusters came out great! If I had to choose a favorite, I think it would be the guy with the knife blade for a hand. I can't help but imagine him sitting in the camp, chopping up whatever they've managed to scrape together for dinner. I also never get tired of watching you flip through your sketch book. Your sketches are fantastic.
Your kitbashing and creating builds from junk have really been inspiring to me, and I've been binging through a lot of your videos recently after having found your channel a few days ago. I enjoy the lore, it's definitely something right up my alley, and I've really appreciated seeing someone do this kind of thing more on a budget, because I've always been held back from wargaming and the like by the price tags usually associated with this hobby. Although I'm a poor university student away from home right now, you've given me lots of ideas for models and miniatures to make with my friends once I get back. Thanks a lot!

I know I joked about the "fat head skulls" before, but in actuality, they could easily represent the skulls of irrradiated and mutated "big headed humnas"...so they kinda fit...in a way.

They remind me - in the best possible way - of the weird, muscle-bound, mutant, wastelands gunslinger giants that turn up (without much exposition) in the Trigun anime. The "Rusters" kinda make me think (also in the best possible way) of junk-worshiping band of Zardoz-style warriors, with maybe a dash of the Star Wars Tusken Raiders and the Mad Max wasteland gangers tossed in. I imagine the movie must surely look something like a post-apocalyptic "300", with an '80s thrash soundtrack (the really primitive, sloppy, grimy stuff - Dishcharge, Voivod, Kreator, Sodom, Destruction, Charged GBH, Bolt Thrower, Morgoth, NME, Venom, and Nuclear Assault, perhaps....) And a lot more explosions naturally.
Have to admit, I didn't think beads could be used for more humanoid kitbashing and the only way to properly customize minis was to painstakingly sculpt them, but you proved me wrong. These look great.
Gotta say, sickle man is probably my favorite. All three varieties of physical melee damage available if you count their kicking ability. 10/10.
this is genuinely so cool!! youre character designs are always so interesting and your editing style is always so much fun :)
Wonderful kit bashing. These minis really stand out with their unique personalities. I like the ones with weird helmets.
bill, I just needed you to know that I also am a dad with no friends and if I lived wherever the hell you live we could be stargrave companions!! haha. I literally watch your videos all day when I'm off work and wife and kid are gone. its soo inspiring. you are seriously an amazing artist and I love your style and creativity. you and both share a love for all things rusty and grimey. and seriously give yourself a little more credit for your painting skill. looks great to me. I would love to see some more kit bashing videos and maybe a collective display of the terrain you have built. by the way I only made a youtube profile so I could actually subscribe and like your content...for some strange reason. thanks for making stuff
I love kitbashing and terrain videos. Keep em coming. This was a cool idea. I particularly liked the rust knight. In my head canon I'm calling him Lord Tetanus (Lockjaw to his friends). Your eyes must have gone buggy working at that scale.
15:55 yes it is called a glizzy. that is why you sometimes hear people being called a glizzy gladiator. you know, the people who fight using a glizzy.
@mathewcox9371
2 жыл бұрын
Might wanna check urban dictionary on that specific term, “Glizzy Gladiator” lol
That's a fun and original kitbash, with some nice lore to boot. My favourite is the guy with the massive round goggly helmet and the gun on a stick. I also think the giant skulls are actually cool. Building on your "colony shop gone off course" idea the planet could have big tall friendly natives who helped the colonists when they first arrived, but now the inbred descendants of the colonists mercilessly hunt them, ya know...
I definitely think the spear guy or the knight leader is my favorite. But honestly, they're all great! I think maybe some ruster pets like a little robo-dog would be a neat little kitbash. Or maybe they could ride robo-dinosaurs across the junk wastes.
I wasn’t sure about the video and the kitbash at first. But as you went along and the Rusters took on shape, I must say that it was a good watch while kitbashing some cavalry. I personally won’t be making the same rusters for star grave. But, I have some Jackals from one page rules in the making, who do have quite scrapper feel. So the tips here will come in hand. One cool thing which I can suggest is using plastic toothpicks as improvised, uclean baionets, or blades.
I WAS gonna go to bed but I saw this and decided sleep was for the weak. I love the conehead guys, I really liked the sketch from the bottom left corner. It really is about the cones
They look awesome! If you check out Fireforge, Frostgrave, Oathmark, Stargrave, Wargames Atlantic, they usually come with a ton of extra smaller skulls and accessories. I really like the Frostgrave models for something like this. Demons and Cultist heads look great for kitbashing. If it's something you're interested in.
Awesome stuff man, love these vids - faves would be Pumpkin head, Clawman, Knifearm, cone boys. But in truth all of them have their own charm, like any boyband however they look even better together!
My love of miniature games brought me here, now can’t stop watching your videos, plenty of very inspiring builds with a great splash of Witt thrown in….this Is compulsive viewing. I’m now sorting through the recycle bins for things I don’t usually save in my terrain building, I’ve got to have a go at a space ship from one of your previous videos for my games of Stargrave, 5 parsecs from home etc. Subscribed! 👍🏻
These turned out super cool! I love the idea of the artillery shell/warhead helmets. Typically "big slab of metal with uneven too-small eyeholes" type helmets look super cool to me, so I'm really vibing with these. I love the worldbuilding and sketching and seeing the way everything comes together at the end, awesome video as always! EDIT: Also I think lots-of-spears-man is my favorite of the bunch
Great video again Bill!! Would love to see videos talking about some of your wording building ideas like this, these guys have some interesting lore!
Very nice! The leader with the giant blade is my favorite. Would love to hear more about his backstory sometime.
So awesome! This is one video that I couldn't wait to come out! Made I need to start kit bashing more! Totally love the Knight Ruster!

Glad you liked it!
I think my favorite is the one with the big round helmet, because it looks like they have shoved a teapot on their head.
I did a nice piece of kit bashing basing all my miniatures on the movie "Frankenstein's Army" - a Nazi-docter puts parts of weapins, machines and dead soldiers together to make fighting monsters. Some of your creations did remind me of that...
Can't pick a favourite because they work so well as a group. Blue skin? Their enemies bigger than they are? They're not an offshoot of Sir Terry Pratchett's, Nac Mac Feegles are they? Absolutely brilliant and your paint job is perfect on these guys - however, if you scratch built another set, it would be fun to see one [or more] of those clever miniature painters have a go at painting them. . .
Hey that's not Bill.
I love these guys! Now I’m feeling inspired to create my own band of masked ruffians, thanks Bill!
Fun fact, you can actually have blue skin if you absorb ( eat ) to much silver (Ag) , so, that might help you with that lore.
I used diamond painting diamonds in a model a few weeks ago - they are perfect rivets! I also find if you have the pen and wax from the kits it makes it so easy to apply, just grab a diamond with the pen, dip it in a dot of glue and place 😊

Coincidentally, I needed rusty-inspired baddies for this weeks Apocalypse campaign. Thank you my dude!
I love these rusty lads, they remind me of some of the raider gangs in Fallout. Great video as always, was nice to come home and relax after work to
Excellent work. I enjoyed how effortless you make converting minis look.
Yes to a Final Fantasy build and the Scrap Knight story! I feel like just about anything out of Midgar would be right up your alley. These minis are amazing!
Definitely a cool build bill I really like the rusters. My favorite is that one with the biggest sord .
These rusters can stab me and shower in my blood any day 😍 Hard to pick a favorie one but I realy like the spear one. The cone hats looks great. Also want to bring attention to your great job of making the leader stick out from the rest of the bunch. Great job, great channel. Superexited to seeing what comes next :)
So happy for a new video. I found you like a month ago and your dry humor and editing style then lead me to watch almost all of your videos. I enjoy these so much, thank you.
Very nice, Bill! I’ll fly over and you can teach me how to play Star Grave. We’ll eat Jammie Dodgers and Spam sandwiches, drink tea past bedtime and have pillow fights. Get that guest room cleaned up, I should be there by 8. Oh, I also love those minis!

Those look amazing! Well done, Bill. I especially like the scrap knight.
Excelente video, como siempre. Me gustan las historias que inventas y el sketchbook. Sería espectacular ver que hagas cosas ambientadas en FF.
The Ruster Knight is freaking awesome! That is one of the most badass looking original IP minis I've seen!
I think the rifle on a stick should be called a Rusty Springfield.
Great job Bill they look awesome. The guy with the gun glaive? thing is my favourite. With the big sword bayonet and his helmet looks kinda like the old diving helmet On the note of the GW skulls that scale issue drives me nuts. The natives are from Warlords Black Powder range and are bigger than Warlords Bolt Action minis, Crooked Dice minis are much smaller especially on a flat base and Dead Mans Hand plastic gunfighters have a noticeable scale difference compared to their older metal minis. Yet they're all 28mm miniatures??
Bill, you're the only "person", i feel like hearing tonight... and my neighbor is a 'real' witch (duplex) always shouting and hexing her poor slave cats... sometimes i hear them shout back in a rebelious meow manner ... she gives the little black one the most abuse.. i know because often she puts it out on the stoop... scared and prey to all the mad pitbulls saved from the shelters by the libs to let run loose and eat All unaware.. or tiny to be eaten.. thank you, for the very few moments your show HELPS me escape from this madness
I hope things are better for you soon. This video brought me some happiness. I love these little rusty lunatics.
I think I enjoyed the Fish tank head or the cone heads the most. Also really impressed by the patrons dinosaurs. Thanks Bill.
I'm stuck between cone head and the chief, also that sketchbook is awesome, I would literally buy a copy of that. Ps you should tottaly do more stuff like this or expand on these guys with maybe a vehicle, a heavy unit, or maybe even an opponent on the rust planet
Again with the rust OY VEY always the rust....... lol. When you picked up the native American set I was wondering where you could go with it. Another weird and wonderful ride into all things Bill and rusty. I think my favorite 2 are the ones at the very end of the rotating mirror finale. I think you should finish up the box and complete the other 14. Never know when the next game might need 2 dozen Rusters to play. Or maybe make copies of each of this band but mounted on crazy alien animals or even vehicles. Hmmmmm maybe episode 41 42 43 44 45 fodder. Perhaps some kind of drop ship is also needed. Maybe an encampment or a small village they call home. Maybe even their own Saturday morning cartoon show........
Love all the weird headgear, and honestly it's nice to see an in-house mini style rather than an aesthetic handed down from one of the big companies.
Amazing and inspiring! My faves were the leader and the mini that is kneeling. I cant wait to create something now
Your art is amazing. Drawing ...sculpture ... Videography. Everything. Bravo sir
I loved seeing your patrons’ creations. I’d love to see more, maybe if they sent you mini videos so you can get more angles. Or just more pictures.
Yeah I’m totally going to steal this one from you Bill!!! I actually picked up this miniature kit a couple years ago to make a Raider and Tribal warband for the game This is Not a Test by Worlds End Publishing. The problem I had was that everything I was going to use to kitbash was (in my opinion) too big but now since watching this video I’m convinced that scale doesn’t matter considering that you pulled it off 👍
Hearing more lore about the Rusters sometime would be neat. What was shared so far was very intriguing.
Imagine how awesome Bill could make a beadbot-dinosaur cyborg!
The spear guy is my favorite.
Nicely done. The final wash stage makes all the wet blending unimportant, it accomplishes a similar enough effect.
Think it's really cool taking some kinda iffy miniatures and turning them into something totally different
Hey Bill! Just be you.....only you can bring us rust! (cat can see into your soul) I was hoping you were gonna say YOU were the leader of the "Rusters"..... will you make a self-portrait mini (or robot) of yourself - and don't forget to do your hair-do!
Ooooh... I have a few Woodland Indians left over from my Sludge project (they make great skirmishers with minimal effort), and getting a sci-fi warband is really enticing!
Where has your channel been all my life? Awesome stuff, found out about your channel via a post on Reddit spinning off your Rust-lads. Thanks for the videos.
The Rusters looks awesome. I love shell helmet idea, it really fits the scrappy, wasteland aesthetic.
Tamiya plastic glue is amazing for model kits but for hard plastic minis it can feel a bit slow(it's really intended for the former). My pals assure me that Plastic Magic is particularly good for hard plastic and GW plastic. The Revell plastic glue with the needle applicator is really strong too but the needle blocks very easily.
I can't really choose between the guy with the kopesh and the gentleman with the grenade-spear. They are both equally amazing to me.
All Hail the Rustees .... actually l meant OH HELL, ITS THE RUSTEES !! ..... yeah l really love these Bill , they'll ok like rejects from a MAD MAX film on another planet ..... my favourite is tye one with the sickle ! ..... Great job Bill 👍
The one with the wooden bead is definitely my favorite, I'll protect him with my life
Love it! Plus, you need to do up a book of scribbles, as those concept pics for this gang looked great.
These look amazing! I really like the one with the big pot helmet.
Love it. Your continued support of the bead and sequin industry is infectious. Im searching everywhere i go for new bits to add to my projects
Would also make great Tribals for This Is Not A Test. Have to say "dude with all the spears" and the "guy kneeling with spear and cone mask" are my favorites.
Okay.. let us buy a copy of that sketchbook and no one has to get hurt. We've been patient, we've listened to you ramble about it not being good but your wrong! Haha we NEED it 🤣
Yes please on the Final Fantasy Builds - also if you haven't heard of Kingdom Death: Monster, please look at it and I'd love to see a KitBash on that one!
I love how Disco they look before painting. Like the a Poundshop Village People.
That war-boss leader is an absolute unit! Good job!
Final Fantasy inspired builds would be amazing cannot wait to see what you would create!!!! Love the videos love the builds very cool and inspiring!
