Excellent video. Judging by the pristine condition of your aquariums you are a far more accomplished aquarist than me. Total respect to you 🙏🏻 My two aquariums are very low tech , filtered only by box and sponge filters. Algexit did the job for me, and I have no hesitation in recommending it.

Thank you for this valuable information. I have what I think is black beard, although it grows mostly on the edges of my plants. I did some pretty serious plant trimming on some giant val and also removed a lot of floating plants. At the same time, I placed a Marienland polishing filter in the tank which created a lot of flow. I left it in there for several days. This is when I first began seeing the algae. So, it appears I did all of the things which created the perfect environment for the algae.

very informative, I thank you! So if your outflow is concentrated (in 1 area) does this cause algae in that area (it is directed) or does the algae thrive in areas where water flow is low/non existent?

Nice and clear, from the three reasons I have one that coulb be ,,,a strong current in may 55 gallons tank running with a Fx5 fluval filter, but the excess of day light ( not sun light) can be a cause too? the problem start when I change my sustrate for Carib sea eco complete planted black aquarium sustrate , do you think I shoud change the sustrate too,? thank you.

Official WASABI Moderator: Yes, daylight contains high levels of UV and full spectrum and causes algae to bloom, probably not specifically BBA, but you'll have endless algae issues. Best to keep the aquarium away from windows or shaded with blinds or curtains. Substrate shouldn't be a cause, but I'd recommend a lot of Seachem Matrix in your canister filter and add in ADA GREEN BACTER PLUS to aid with beneficial bacteria growth. Thanks to your support! Thanks for watching! ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ

The worst algae of all? Is the black hard algae that gets on Anubias especially. Its like spray paint,no scrubbing it off. My guess is thrives in a certain light spectrum also.

When you mentioned water changes to control algae, do you mean 70-80% water changes? I was doing ( I dropped out of the hobby because of algae) about 20% weekly water change. Also using 2 tube plant light 12 hrs. I was using the right size of bio-wheel filter, no air stone. 40 gal. breeder tank, no air stone. Later on I switched to a submersible filter and then connected a sugar/yeast bottle up to the venturi hose (uncontrolled, 24/7). (Now that I think of it, I may have had more algae problems when I did the sugar/yeast trick. Been 10 yrs+ to recall that thought,)

@@BURAIANANDRESRAMOS Official WASABI Moderator: Hi Bryan. Good question. You can add it in either the filter or tank. The dosage rate is 1 drop per 20L, or 5.3 Gallons. For example, ADA 60-P is 60L, so you add 3 drops. For the best result use it daily for two weeks. Hope this helps!
