    Aw, thanks so much for the encouragement, and I also appreciate you watching and commenting. Yes! I just don't have the patience for a lot of banter when I want to learn something from a KZread video, so I decided when I started this channel I would not go that route. It's that whole "treat people as you want to be treated" thing, I think! 😆 Please let me know if there are any SVGs cut files and/or vector-creation tools you'd like to learn how to create/use. I give examples in the following video kzread.info/dash/bejne/e5V7uMlrXamrm8Y.html. Also, don't hesitate to ask questions about Cricut Design Space and your Cricut machine, as well. I'm open to helping out in any ways I can.

    Very rarely do I comment on these types of videos but your video has answered a question that seemed easy enough to find out but has nearly caused me to stop using the cricut as no video covers it so comprehensively. I wanted to print / cut and hide all contours, that's all I wanted and it seemed to hard. Thank you so much for explaining this in such a simple way.

    You are most welcome. Thank you for validating the reason I created my channel, because I actually thought about not creating one. I wanted to do videos for people that I wish I could find on KZread and do them in a way that gets straight to the point, because when you're trying to learn to do something you don't want to hear about how hard my week was and about the new shirt I got on sale. I simply do not have the patience for all the banter, so I wanted to create a banter-free channel. I really appreciate you leaving the comment and letting me know I'm meeting the mission I set. I so understand wanting to just chuck it and give up! I can't tell you the number of other videos I watched where other creators just zipped right through the whole process, and their cuts came out perfectly! I was so baffled by why I was ruining sheet after sheet of copy paper and sticker paper and printable vinyl, so then I just buckled down and was like, "If all these other people can do this, I should be able to, also. What am I doing wrong?" I put a small, layered design on my canvas and blew up the Zoom to 300% in Cricut Design Space and figured out step-by-step (with a lot of undoing) where I was going wrong. As soon as I figure it all out, I decided it would be a good idea to create this video tutorial for others. I am overjoyed that you found the tutorial useful, and thank you ever so much for watching and commenting. Wow! Have you been watching over me for the last week? I have spent hours trying to figure this print and cut out. I am more than frustrated and was ready to sell my machine. I will try this today. I also heard that you cannot use a laser printer? Is this correct? I have a laser printer. I just ordered a cheap ink and jet to do this print and cut design stuff. I have subscribed to your site. You are very easy to listen too and you explain things very well and you go slow enough for me to follow. Thank you for that! :)

  • @SVGTuts

    @SVGTuts

    Thank you so much for watching, commenting and subscribing. It's not that you cannot use a laser printer with Print Then Cut projects. It's that Cricut printable materials are not compatible with laser printers and neither are many of the other third party materials usually used with the Print Then Cut feature. The heat of the laser printer can melt vinyl sticker paper and/or the adhesive used with vinyl/paper sticker paper can cause a mess inside a laser printer once the media is heated. That's why most media require an inkjet printer. Some of the Avery products, like Avery 4397 Printable Sticker Paper, Glossy Clear [ amzn.to/4bmS6K3 ], can be used with a laser printer or an inkjet printer. The packaging usually indicates whether you can only use an inkjet printer, so be sure to check that out. Thanks so much for your question.

    You're most welcome, and thank you for watching and commenting. If the SVG you purchased is made up of layers, then you can just hide or delete the layer with the text. If the SVG you purchased is not made up of layers, then hopefully the designer provided you with an EPS and/or AI file that has layers. Do you mind providing a link to the file you purchased, and I can see if I can determine whether it's layered or not?

    Hi, been watching your tutorials on how to avoid printing our each letter. I just want to create some greeting for my iris fold cards (i.e. Happy Anniversary). I want to print directly onto gold or silver shimmer vinyl. What color should the lettering & offset be?

  • @SVGTuts

    @SVGTuts

    Ай бұрын

    Thanks for watching my tutorials and commenting. When you say, " I want to print directly onto gold or silver shimmer vinyl," I'm thinking specifically of Cricut's Printable Vinyl in gold and silver cricut.pxf.io/q4Y5Xg. If you want the gold/silver to show through for the lettering, then make the offset a dark color (like black or dark purple or dark brown) and make the lettering white. If you want the offset to show in gold/silver around the lettering, and you want the lettering to have a fill color, then fill the lettering with the color(s) you want and make the offset white. Unless you have an inkjet printer that prints with white ink from a white ink cartridge/tank, the printer will ignore the white as if the vinyl you're printing on is white. I hope that answers the question you asked. If I totally missed the mark, please let me know, and I'll try to clarify.

    Thank you! This helped me a lot, I was getting really frustrated. If you buy an image from Etsy how do you edit that image? When I try to edit I can’t. I highlighted the whole image but there’s nothing else I can do to change the image. Like the flatten feature does not highlight.

  • @SVGTuts

    @SVGTuts

    Жыл бұрын

    Thanks for watching and commenting. ❤ When you purchase a file from Etsy or anywhere else, make sure that it is in layers and not already flattened. Even if it says it's an SVG, you still want to make sure to ask the seller if it's in layers that can be modified. If not, then you're not going to be able to modify their file. If you get multiple files, like JPG, PNG, SVG, then use the SVG file. The JPG and PNG will definitely be flattened. Again, make sure to ask if the SVG file has its layers if the description does not explicitly say "layered" or "layers" for the SVG. Thanks for your question, and I hope this helps!

    By far the BEST tutorial you can find explaining this! I’ve watched countless tutorials and this is easiest to follow and straight to the point! I don’t need people selling me things. I need to learn how to use my cricut better! Now I have known how to use P&C feature and have had successful cuts in the last couple months but once in a while I get so frustrated because it will not cut it right. Even after calibrating and going back to try and fix the image with flatten. It would always cut out the letters/text I used even after flatten. I think I know why now that your video has helped!! Trial and error is how we learn right? Thank you for your help! I think you even made it easier then I was doing it. lol do you find the new “P&C feature” doesn’t work as well as doing it the original way? (this way??) because I’m finding I’m having issues with using the new feature and it cutting everything out. 🤔

I like to stick to the features that you can use without having a subscription to Cricut Access, even though I do pay for Cricut Access. I mean, if I can't afford to renew it next year, then I don't want to be missing things I can't use anymore. Haha.

    @@SVGTuts absolutely understand!!! I’ve had the original cricut joy for a year just to play and learn but wanted to do more. My family got me the new Explore for Christmas and I haven’t stopped using it since. I’m a nurse and work a lot (probably too much haha) but it’s very calming and relaxing to come home and try new things with it. Even if it’s only for an hour, the creativity just relaxes me… even when I get super frustrated haha 😂 currently I’m trying to use infusible ink markers (which is frustrating too) and also using P&C to make bookmarks with magnetic paper. But every time I’d sent it to cut, it kept cutting out everything and now I know why! It’s because I wasn’t flattening the image as a whole and only flattened the original image (before duplicating it), so the sub wasn’t flattening and cutting everything. I repeatedly went back to try the flattening everything and it still wouldn’t work but it’s because they were all still separated… I literally just tried it your way and it worked!! FINALLY!!!! I’m jumping with joy and so grateful for you! I also tried the sticker feature with one of them and it cut everything, so I’m sticking to the original way. Plus, you’re right… it’s better to know how to do it yourself than relying on the app to do it. It will always be reliable! I kept the subscription only while I’m learning but plan to end it eventually. It definitely adds up financially. Especially as I’m learning to figure everything out myself. I’m so grateful for your help! And thank you for responding. Truly the best tutorials I’ve found! Definitely a hidden gem! I’ve recommended you to my best friend too who is learning on a Maker 3. @@SVGTuts yes. Thanks so much for getting back to me! So when I removed the scoring lines and the background square cut I was able to group all the graphics and text. I was then able to flatten them. However, when I attached it back to the scoring lines and background, it cut out the outside shape of the flattened graphics & text and the outside square. How do I connect it to a background & have it only cut the background out? Don't know if this makes sense without seeing what I was making, but thanks for any insight you may have!

    Thanks for your question. It's all in Flattening the right away. Check out this video for more about that kzread.info/dash/bejne/hmRk15OkgLOZc5s.html. As long as you have everything flattened to one layer, then your Cricut will only cut the outline of the design and not each, individual letter and/or illustration.

    Thank you so much for this fabulous, step by step description of print then cut in Design Space for Cricut. I have one question that you might be able to answer. Can I print in another room than the craft room with my Cricut? My printer is in my office and the Cricut machine is in a craft room downstairs. Will the software (Design Space) send to the printer without the Cricut on and in the room? If you know I’d appreciate your experience. Thanks again for your video.🥰

    Got it. My best advice is to port the notebook ( (so glad to see someone call it what it is; I tried for years and years to get people to call it a notebook, but everyone wants to use the term laptop) with you to the room with the printer and print out your design(s). Then cancel out of the "Make It" process back to the Cricut Design Space canvas. Then take your printed design(s) and notebook to where the Cricut is. Add your media to your mat, if you're using a mat, or prep your Smart material for loading. Now click "Make It" again and get to the place where you see "Print on (whatever size your media is) , but look all the way to the right and click "I've Already Printed." Then you can choose whatever is necessary from there to have the Cricut machine do its job. Alternatively, you can skip the step where you back out of the "Make It" process and just keep Cricut Design Space where it is and head to the Cricut machine, but I'm thinking that you might get stuck and have to back out, so that's why I suggested just going ahead and doing it so you don't get stuck. Let me know how it goes, please. I'm very interested to know.

    Oh, great! While you're waiting your materials, I'd suggest doing some test runs on regular 20-pound copy paper; maybe in light and dark grays to save on ink. That would allow you to make sure your machine is calibrated properly before you cut into any printable vinyl and such. This is such a great explanation and I learned several new techniques! Thank you so much for sharing! I have a question too, if you happen to know how to do this: ) I have a greeting card that is already cut out, but I want to cut the old text out of the middle of the front of the card so I can make a new greeting. How do I get my Cricut to only cut out the shape from the middle without trying to recut around the entire card. the card is currently open on my mat and is 5.5 x 8.5. I have measured a small rectangle to cut out of the front section of the card, but I don't need my machine to cut out the whole card since it's already the size i need. Is there a way to tell the machine to cut where I need it to, but not cut out the whole card? thanks! MaryAnn

    is grouping the same thing as attached?

  • @SVGTuts

    @SVGTuts

    7 ай бұрын

    Thanks for your question. Think of GROUP as one language and ATTACH as a totally different language. Cricut Design Space speaks GROUP. Your Cricut machine speaks ATTACH. GROUPing is a virtual thing you do in Cricut Design Space to keep several parts of a whole together, but GROUPing means absolutely nothing to your Cricut cutting machine. That's because your Cricut cutting machine doesn't know what GROUP means. WHEN you choose ATTACH in Cricut Design Space imagine CDS saying, "Oh, that's nothing to do with me, but I can pass the message on to your Cricut cutting machine, and it'll know what to do with it." GROUPing, Part 1... In Cricut Design Space, for example, you may have a square with a circle inside of it and then some text inside of the circle. You select them all, go to ALIGN at the top of Cricut Design Space and hover down with your mouse (track pad or whatever you use) until you see CENTER to center the text within the circle and the text and circle within the square, and you think, "Perfect! Stay that way while I move you over to the right (or left) side of the canvas so I can work on something else." Before you move your perfectly-centered objects, you choose GROUP to keep the three objects together as you move them to one side or the other of the canvas. GROUPing, Part 2... After moving your first group over to one side, you now want to make a circle with a square inside of it and then some text inside the square. You select them all, go to ALIGN at the top of Cricut Design Space and hover down until you see CENTER to center the text within the square and the text and square within the circle, and you again think, "Love it! Stay that way." So you choose GROUP to keep the three objects together. You then bring GROUP #1 closer to GROUP #2 and select them both... ATTACHING... At this point, you're ready to bring your design to life on your Cricut cutting machine. With both groups selected, you move your cursor down to the bottom-right of Cricut Design Space and click ATTACH. After you go up to the top-right of Cricut Design Space and click MAKE IT, then you will see your designs appear in the way they appeared on the screen before. Without ATTACH, even if you have grouped things, when you get to the PREPARE YOUR MATS screen, all your objects will appear as if they exist separate from one another. So... GROUP is virtual and something you do in Cricut Design Space to keep things orderly for your own purposes. ATTACH is the command to your Cricut cutting machine to do the job in the appearance and placement that you desire. I hope this is helpful, and thanks again for your question.

    Hello, and thank you for your question. You wouldn't need an offset at all for this. If you want the objects on top of a square, just choose the square shape and make it the size you want the sticker to be. They arrange your picture, name and quantity on the square where you want them to print. Select everything and then FLATTEN. When it cuts, it'll only cut out the square and not the stuff on the square. Please let me know if a video would be more helpful, and I'd be happy to make one quickly for you. 🙂

    what's the difference Attach & Group?

  • @SVGTuts

    @SVGTuts

    11 ай бұрын

    Hello, thanks for your question. I actually address that in a follow-up video I did for another viewer kzread.info/dash/bejne/hmRk15OkgLOZc5s.html. Essentially, "Group" is a Cricut Design Space command, whereas "Attach" is a Cricut machine command. Grouping is something you do in Design Space to keep things together and move them and/or manipulate them as a group, like moving three layers all at once to a different location on your Cricut Design Space Canvas. Attaching is the equivalient of saying to Cricut Design Space, "Keep all this together when you take me to the preview screen, so I can see how this is going to cut/draw/print/foil/emboss etc. once you relay my instructions to my machine." If you simply "Group" but do not "Attach," then you've only set up a command for dealing with the design in Cricut Design Space and not bringing the design to life correctly once you go to the preview before sending it off to your printer and/or Cricut machine. I hope this all makes sense. Thanks, again, for your question.
