How to Keep the Toyota Microphone with an Aftermarket Radio

Ойын-сауық

I really didn't want to use the aftermarket microphone that came with my used radio. So I figured out how to power the stock microphone and route its signal to my aftermarket radio. I did not make any modifications to the OEM equipment to make this work. Everything I tweaked is an aftermarket wire or connector.
I cut the connector off the aftermarket microphone and soldered the shielding and wire to some pins that I removed from the connector. These connect to Pin 5 (+) and 19 (-) on the 28 pin connector.
I also soldered a USB 5V output and ground to some extra pins and used these these in place of the original amplification circuit. The 5V connects to "MACC" via pin 4. The USB ground connects to "SNS2" via pin 6.

Thanks for the idea. So what we are dealing with is essentially a condenser microphone. If this is the case you will need a 10k resistor on the 5V+ line to buffer the line level and a 1uF capacitor inline with the Mic+ connector to remove noise.

Thank you for your video, but the audio signal coming from an amplified microphone is too much higher than the original Pioneer microphone, so, without using some attenuation probably with a resistor, we will not have a good audio. The main problem after setting the audio for phone calls, is that you may noticed that the audio on WhatsApp have different reactions than the audio on phone calls. Have you noticed it? Anything you upgraded on ths solution to have both audio (phone calls and WhatsApp) acceptable? I'm working on this solution for some days, and we can share some experiences on this situation.

Why did you use pin 6, I see in a pinout that 6 is mic detect. Should you not use pin 18 labeled as mic wires shield ground

Finally something about this microphone thing! Thank you :) I may try it soon on my 2013 Rav4, because the aftermarket mic is a meme! Edit: I tried it and it worked perfectly 🔥🔥 Thanks again :)

Hi: Were the Rav4 pins same as Prev! I want to try it with my Land Cruiser 150 but I am not sure if the pins are same or different.

@@Khalid-Mengal You need to search for headunit pins diagram/layout for your car and you just need the (+) of the mic. The rest can be managed from different pins. BTW, I suggest to use the mic that comes with the aftermarket headunit, since using the car OEM mic with fixed 5V source will make your sound very bad and distorted while driving.. It only work good if you are stopped :( because it there is no mean to adjust the mic gain (fixed 5V)

Has anyone tried it and can tell us if the original microphone in Aftermarkt Radio is better?

The aftermarket one that comes with the radio may be better. This set up works fine when there isn’t any extra wind noise but it is really difficult to use when the vehicle is driving. I’m not sure what I’d need to change to get the OEM one working correctly.
