HOW TO JUMP ON INLINE SKATES - Part 4 - Edge Landing
This video is part of series and best watched in order.
Playlist --- goo.gl/BrYdcE
In this video I start with a review of :
Heel pop 1:42
Stomp landing 2:10
Toe Push 2:45
For the purposes of landing we have centre edges, inside edges, outside edges and corresponding edges.
Inside edge landing 3:50
Inside edges are perfect when your weight is too far forward.
Outside edge landing 3:49
Outside edge can give you more power for stomping a big jump. Leaning on the cuffs allows you to leverage the skates for support.
Corresponding edge landing 5:44
Corresponding edges are perfect transferring the impact from the landing into a turn. Particularly useful for jumping off stairs and making a quick turn to avoid an obstacle. Corresponding edges are also great for landing 360s
Thanks for watching.

Oh thank god there are more landings for me to learn. Really. I want to jump, which I can thanks to your videos, but not without far too much mental convincing. At the very least I can say I have a solid landing. Thanks Shop Task for all your help, this reborn skater is now taking off the training wheels and going for it. I am currently trying to master transferring from backward to forward skating to further galvanize my resolve to jumps. I will visit your YYZ (Toronto) shop soon and give you all a congrats on the new shop next week. Till then, here to hoping I stretch my own "wings" and get flying.

The mention of the inside-outside edge (plow) landing...That...that was the missing jigsaw piece to pull off the 360... All along for months I could not pinpoint why the 360 spins sent me crashing to the ground... I could not detect the error...I could not detect the bug in my technique.... Until you Shoptask/Bearface, the guru, the master, the technician bestowed that hotfix...that jigsaw piece free of charge...Namaste, dude!

First and foremost, your videos are incredible and inspirational. I have just picked up skating and I was wondering, based on some of your videos you imply that a good stride/stance focus on riding on the inner edge of the skates, did I get it right? I'm just having a blast learning (and often shit scared). Keep up the great work!

When you turn around like at 0:39, do you transfer the weight to the front (or back) wheel? It looks sooo smooth!

  • @FlowSkate

    @FlowSkate

    7 жыл бұрын

When I am going forward to backward I touch my feet together with my weight on the third wheel. I rotate my upper body before I transfer the weight into my toes. When I put my weight into my toes I can then let my feet follow through with the rotation.

He’s using custom skates available from their website, and are around 700 USD. If you want some freestyle skates (most commonly called urban skates), Rollerblade Twister and Seba FR1 are popular recommendations and are around 200-300 USD. There are a lot of other skates like those out there. Lots of videos on KZread about different ones. Hope this helped.
