its not the wheel size it is just bad bike setup, technique or both . Check your rebound if it is a dual suspension bike, I was riding with a would cup downhiller a couple of months ago and I was quite hesitant and not fully in control on the bigger jumps, he put a couple of extra clicks on my rebound and the I was comfortably pumping them as hard as possible and trying to huck everything. I didn't realise how big a difference a slightly slower rebound seed makes to your sense of control off jumps

And that is because he has a light weight bike with great suspension so it is easy for him to go down on his suspension and then pop up easily. He also has more speed than u.
Thanks Blake..I still suck but still practicing.

Thank you so much! Great tutorial I was able to learn to bunny hop in about 30 minutes. And a couple of days later I found a small kicker on a trail. After a few slow approaches I successfully jumped my bike! What a blast! Thanks again.
Just got back into mountain biking learning the ropes again. Cleared my first large table top this morning confidently got over my fear of crashing thank you Blake this tutorial really helped. Onto the doubles now.!!!!
Thanks so much Blake, always seems like you genuinely care about ppl learning. I used to jump all the time, now on mtb I keep either going backwards or sideways too much.
I've needed 41 years to learn to PROPERLY jump. Today I've applied your advices in the skatepark and my jumps were 50% higher and longer with less effort and less entry speed!! Thank you so much! The secret was in the leg pumping in the ramp... 😉

Thanks a lot for posting, mate! as a 50 something-year-old mountain biker of over 30 years in the saddle, I'm just getting into freeride/trail and would love to be able to handle some small air. Really great, informative 'real technique' tutorial and demos which give confidence! As you get older, the fear can take over (self employed - can't afford time off work!). Can't wait to get out there and try these 'new' skills! Cheers, bud!
Great video Blake. Just got the bunny hop nailed, for me this is ideal progression for improving my jumps. Keep these coming!
Love you man your sick I actually cleared a 14ft gap jump last week! I keep watching this for advice cheers man
Thanks for this vid. Watched tons of them, but your simple 3p technique made me so self-confident...now I know where to tune my hop... Thanks man!!

Because there is an alternate views on how to do this and some may believe what is taught isn't what is happening.
I love your videos as I do not like using clip-ins despite using a hardtail, there's one part on my local track with a small drop that goes down a hill then into a small uphill ramp and i get air really well without effort, however a while ago i landed sideways and hurt pretty bad so i lost confidence and want to learn actual proper techniques for when i do get air for now on, i Ride a hard tail :)
This is a great video and will be practicing. I really struggle with mastering the principles.
You do a great job with the explanation.
Good tip that helped me learn bunny hopping, record yourself and view it back so you can see exactly where you went wrong and how much height your getting
this video is still the best dirt jumping tutorial ever..This is like my bible..Blake pls make a new one for us for year 2020- 2021..Thanks
