Today, we show you how to make Jeju Island's Famous Meat Noodles. It's called Gogi Guksu in Korean (제주 고기국수). I had it for the first time when I went to Jeju Island to get my scuba license. I still remember the taste of these noodles and how it hit the spot! We had it 3 days in a row for lunch. I've learned how to make it at home using 사골육수 packets - or beef bone packets. I think it may possibly be better than ramen... ;-)

Shopping Note: If you go to the Korean Market and only find Sagol Yuksu Broth Packets that are available in 350g packets (as opposed to the 500g packets show in the video)... buy 3 of them >> Use 3 Packets of Beef Bone Broth + 1.5 Packets of Water.

The Korean beef base is outstanding! I use it all the time. What I like about it most is there are no artificial components used in it.

You can just add less of the pepper sauce at the end if you don’t like spicy. Korean chili flakes look very red, but they are actually not as spicy as they look!

there are variations of this dish that can use either chicken or beef if wanted, they are its own dish and called something else. you should look up yuk gae jang and kalguksu. they are similar to this dish. all freaking delicious. for the beef you can do the same thing they did, but shred the beef into pieces rather than cut, then mix the chili paste they made with the beef shreds then top your noodle dish with this like they did with the pork

I see a lot of cooks complain about "pork taste" or something being too "porky". I'm sorry, but if you don't want pork flavor, then why are you eating pork? The porkiness is the best part! Imagine eating beef that didn't taste beefy! What's the point? Anyways, good recipe.

this is her opinion, but for anyone who actually makes this absolutely do not listen to this woman. she doesnt know what shes talking about and has obviously never had pork belly or anything to its equvalent. when you boil the pork for that long most of that fat is rendered into the broth where most stays in the first pot and you get a nice texture contrast of the different layers of meat. if you want to take the fat off go ahead but i will tell you right now it wont be the same
