How to invest in backrooms as a side hustle [Township Property Investment]

Township Property Investment aka ama backrooms is popular in buzzing townships like Ebony Park, Tembisa, Soshanguve just to name a few. Ndumiso, Ekasi Property, is sharing how he started back in the mid-2000s by buying a property for R150k, 2 bed 1 bath and now has 6 backrooms and renting out the main room. He is Equity rich and has a HEALTHY cash flow, gives back to the community, has a family-like way he runs his ama backroom rentals.

Thank you for the content/information, as someone who grew up in a shack(mkhukhu) and still live in it. I wanted to buy a spacious yard/house and rent It out so that I can be able to build more rooms at the back at the time goes. the video showed me some of the things I need to be aware of before I can get into this business. Am I allowed to buy an RDP house with flats at the back using FLISP and rent it all out or there will be issues with the department of human settlement. Thank you once again.

Sounds like a great strategy Hope! Just make sure you are making a profit on your rentals every month and that you are not supplementing anything. You can check out the rental calculation video that Retha did on how to do this, if you have not yet seen the video :) Here is the link to it: kzread.info/dash/bejne/nGybs9SddtWdmNo.html

I'm thinking of buying an Rdp house, well that's all I can afford and then after a couple of years do the backrooms, but what if I don't get tenants and I don't even earn alot of money from my job but would like to own rental property even if it is in the township

  • @MyPropertyBusiness

As long as you have a good product (rental unit) at the right price you will always have tenants. Check out the video on our channel "how to calculate passive income from a rental property" to see how to do the numbers right so you don't end up supplementing each month.
