@@onixprime Yup, just another case of projection. At this point, it isn't just a "tactic" to accuse their opponents of what they themselves are doing, I think many people like this actually mentally stunted and are incapable of seeing things from the perspective of another person. I can't help but be reminded of the plot of Attack on Titan, specifically Willy Tybur's speech. Talk about a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Reminds me of my ex-wife! I could be sitting on the front porch drinking 2-3 beers after work and smoking a cigarette and she would come storming outside screaming at me for drinking some beers and telling me I am worse than her father who was supposedly abusive. She would also constantly check my phone (I had nothing to hide) and try to get me to confess to things she imagined in her head. She'd say things like "Your co-worker is prettier than me isn't she? You've cheated on me with her haven't you? You can tell me, I won't get mad..." and then when I answered "no, why would I cheat on you?" She would say something like "I KNEW IT!!! My friends husband cheated on her and we've talked and all you men are worthless!!!!" and then she'd stay at her friends house for 2-3 days before coming back home after her friend got tired of her. Eventually her "friend" told me that my wife cheated on me with another guy and she tried to stop her but couldn't" (the reality was that her friend was miserable and misery loves company so she set up a date for my wife with another man and convinced her to go through with sleeping with him and even took a picture of them in her spare bedroom together to show me). The next day my wife tells me she wanted a divorce over the phone and that her new lover treats her better than I treated her. Fast forward maybe 2 months and they get into a massive fight and finds out her new lover is a woman beater and drug addict and my wife comes knocking on my door at 3am covered in bruises and scratches and with tears in her eyes tells me "I am sorry for what I did, can I come in, I love you... I'm sorry, please forgive me..." I let her come in and she immediately gets naked and tells me she wanted to have "make-up sex" and I tell her to leave my house because the reason she left in the first place is because I supposedly was a bad guy so I didn't feel it was good for me to be around her if I'm such a supposed asshole. She kept apologizing and I told her "I love you but you cheated on me and our marriage died at that point" and she claimed that we could just start over and everything would be okay. I gave her $500 and had her call her parents and they let her stay with them. Eventually I pushed for a divorce and yes, she got my house (which was bullshit as I paid every dime on it) and I ended up moving back with my parents for a good 4 months until I got my shit together and ended up in an apartment, I eventually started dating around and found a woman who was 19 and was interested in me despite me being 32 at the time, we took it slow until we didn't (lol) and on the 8th date we had sex and 6 months later we got married. Been with her for over 11 years now and we have a child and she is the calmest and most down to Earth woman I've ever met.

Intolerance paradox: In order to maximize tolerance, the acceptable intolerance is against the intolerant. It is the same premise that allows for violence in the case of self-defense. Violence is unacceptable except in the face of violence. In other words, to put it in the context of the yelling guy: When you put your profits over society (which "high tier capitalists" do, let's be honest - the stakeholder's interests have been of no concern to them for decades now), you ought to lose the benefits a society provides. He's an incredibly bad public speaker, but he's not wrong. Capitalism, as a necessity of increasing profits - it's inherent goal - inadvertently leads to people's lives becoming less valued and thereby more and more expendable, leading to work with sub-standard equipment, disregard of safety regulations, and other dangers that have directly lead to the deaths of millions thanks to capitalist interests, which makes capitalism the ideological cause of their demise.

  • @JSamsung12

I agree that he has a point somewhere in there but honestly as you said it’s a “paradox” to think this way. While capitalists are bad, this kind of thinking reminds me of China during and after the revolution. IMO it’s better to have a capitalist society over a totalitarian regime like what communist China or Soviet Russia had/have. Capitalism is bad but at least in this society we can speak our voice rather than being sent to jail or killed. In this case tho, he ruins all credibility and respect from me. When u yell and scream violence and obscenities like this child here, nobody in their right mind will listen to u. He should let someone more intelligent and eloquent prove his point cuz honestly he looks like he’s running off emotion and not his brain. “Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt” -Abe Lincoln

@@stammesbrudernot really. You can still practice a moral form of capitalism. For instance, I can make the argument that it's unfair that some possibly skilled people don't get a chance to participate and improve society and thus we should give them a baseline platform. (Welfare) You can also argue that people shouldn't be completely financially destroyed by some random medical issue they just happened to have at no fault of their own for a fair chance at competition in society which in turn improves it for all of us (Universal healthcare). I think EU countries practice a much healthier form of capitalism than the US.

  • @gustopunk

Just my 2 cents: I notice that when people are arguing the Capitalism vs Socialism piece, they almost always seem to be arguing their perfectly practiced system vs the the other system that is corrupted by greedy and/or power hungry people. Argument 1: Capitalism is bad because it always leads to people caring about money over the wellbeing of others. Argument 2: Socialism is bad because it leads to censorship and the oppression of people who try to speak out against it. Both of those arguments do not point out flaws in the systems themselves, rather a flaw in human nature. If ran perfectly, you could have a Capitalist, Socialist, or even a Capitalist/Socialist system that took care of people in need without allowing abuse of the System. It could allow free markets which would encourage competition which in turn would result in fair pricing and better quality items. I would argue that people are the problem. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. I'm sure most people have heard that phrase. It is true I believe. And I do not believe that it is the system that leads us into that behavior. We are already like that, the system is just the tool we use. We can all say, "if it was me..." or "If we just vote the right person in..." everything will all of a sudden be better and those other guys will lose. I don't think that will ever happen. As long as people are running the show, every system will be flawed and broken. So, where does that leave us. We look at history, what countries flourished and prospered more? What countries did the people seem better off and happy? Countries that embraced and held a Capitalist system or countries that went more with the Communist/Socialist system? And you can't argue "oh that's because we have never seen Socialism done properly..." I already addressed that in the first statement of this post. We have never seen any system "done properly", nor will we as long as it's ran by people.

@@Odyssey636 The Idea that god gave us Human Rights is not a losing argument, otherwise you're basically saying Hitler did nothing wrong, Afterall it's the state that gives people rights, so why would it be wrong for the state to take way rights? Afterall they gave it to us so therefore they get to make and control all rights and rights are not Inherited from birth etc. That is against the religious notion that god create all men equal in his eyes. This is why the founding fathers worded our rights this way, to take away power from the state. Even Atheists acknowledge this way of thinking is preferable to the state being the arborator of Human Rights. Personally I'm agonistic. It's very weird seeing this pretend hatred of Religion, when historically all our current beliefs and morality are based on Judea Christian values such as "Don't do onto others, you wouldn't want done upon you" etc. People like you genuinely need to engage in this topic before saying things like "You also lose when u bring up gOd" you seem to be ignorant of history and religion, people smarter than you and me debated this for years to create the constitution, Atheists and agnostic and Christians all came together and agreed our rights come from god. Ask yourself why.

Healthcare could be affordable, but the literal representational body of the masses (government) is too afraid to do anything for it; more and more people become wage slaves for bare necessities; despite being one of the strongest economies, most americans live paycheck-to-paycheck; the ability to go to work greatly depends on whether you can afford to have a luxury good and fuel for it on a daily basis. Privacy is a thing of the past, with well known institutions openly spying on people. Alternative methods to relieve such tensions are possible and viable, yet the corporate elite lobby against it to make the lives of the diminishing middle class (and increasing lower class) harder and harder... It may be a boring dystopia, but it sure is one. In most dystopias, the common masses usually just accept their nightmare as the way life is - I see no difference to the reality we live in today.

Nah. It's the same principle under which we condone violence in the face of violence as self-defense. It's called the intolerance paradox and it constitutes that we can only uphold tolerance by saving intolerance for intolerant people. You do not hit people, but if they attack you, it's totally fine to hit someone to defend yourself. What he is arguing for (badly, obviously) is that we should apply the same principle to the same people that upheld a system that threatens people on a societal level rather than a personal one. One may say "I don't want to kill you personally", but if they support people in power who plan to get rid of certain kinds of people, keep people away from receiving healthcare, or push them into poverty or keep them there, force them to become wage-slaves to maybe afford a roof over their head as to not die from exposure, then they do in fact want people to die - it is a direct result of many conservative policies.

The progressive left get a lot of their playbook from the French Revolution, to be fair. Using yellow journalism, spreading rumors and unchecked half-truths or speculation-as-fact through tabloids and rabble-rousers, incentivizing dissent and resentment, and creating strawmen out of rival figures. Plus, they always have some kind of solid financial backing. The guy's point clearly wasn't that atheism killed 100M+ people. He was proving that the "Hitler also drank water" argument is bad. Mao and Stalin didn't kill all those people because they were atheists. Those people died because of failed communist policies, mostly regarding farming if I'm remembering my history correctly (and sure some were executed). So when you say that 'capitalism killed X amount of people' you need to provide a link directly between capitalism and the deaths. Otherwise they are 'deaths under capitalism', not 'deaths caused by capitalism'. A very large difference.

Like ofc i dont think "god created us" is a good argument, but its really hard to hear out the side with the person who wont stop yelling. This is a big issue with public debates is that one person can purposefully exercise calm argumentation to seem smarter and just lure in emotional and volatile people from the other side of the argument to make them look dumb in comparison, it stops being about what they're actually saying and the validity of it (granted, I don't think the liberal guy was making too compelling of an argument to begin with), but instead depends on who seems the most confident in their stance

The cathartic release mixed with the knowledge of righteousness and doing something good. It gives a rush like no other. The issue is that it's addictive and if you don't know self control you'll look for any reason to be in this righteous rage and it leads to insane individuals getting angry over anything for their next hit. Anything can be addictive especially that which releases endorphins.

I demonize society and it's tribalism and supposed need for duality in all things and I'm not radicalized. In fact, I live in a small rural community with my wife and our child working for myself instead of making a boss wealthy and live a frugal lifestyle filled with love, common sense, and rationality. If I took part in a "normal" life of working for 40+ years at a regular job, renting an apartment in a city, and retiring and blowing all of my money in a decade or two and not passing on generational wealth I'd probably be radicalized though. Hell, I could see myself pulling a D-Fens from Falling Down! A life of wage slavery and debt with minimal freedom sounds worse than prison to me. I build transmissions in my garage and I only have to build 1 or 2 a month (maybe 5-10 hours of labor) and I have all the bills and groceries covered and everything after that is gravy. No taxes, no bosses, no rules, I can smoke pot or drink whenever I want, wear whatever I want, make love to my wife whenever I want, take my family on a vacation whenever I want, etc. Yeah, I could make far more money working for AAMCO or another mass-production facility but there is no need to and I prefer being free. I paid my house off half a decade ago and only really need $800 a month to cover everything. I also undercut AAMCO by 50% so people get a far better deal going to me so I usually get 3-4 a month which means a lot of extra cash.
