How to Install Windows 11 on Unsupported CPU & TPM 1.2

Ғылым және технология

In this step-by-step tutorial, learn how to install Windows 11 on a PC even if your CPU is not officially supported. Officially, Windows 11 requires an Intel 8th Generation and beyond CPU. You also need TPM 2.0. If you try to upgrade with an older CPU or TPM 1.2, you'll get an error message that prevents you from upgrading. Basically, you need a new PC to run Windows 11. You have two options: (1) You can continue using Windows 10 another 4 years through October 2025. Alternatively, you can (2) upgrade to Windows 11 now using a workaround published by Microsoft. In this video, we walk through the workaround offered by Microsoft.
👋 Additional resources
- Download the Windows 11 ISO: www.microsoft.com/en-us/softw...
- Official Microsoft workaround: support.microsoft.com/en-us/w...
Registry Updates:
- Navigate to: Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Setup\MoSetup
- Check if you already have a value for AllowUpgradesWithUnsupportedTPMOrCPU
- If you don't have this yet, right click and pick New - DWORD (32-bit) Value. Name the value AllowUpgradesWithUnsupportedTPMOrCPU
- Double-click on the new value you created, and enter 1 into the Value data field.
- Hit OK and close the registry editor.

Quick notes: ☑️ If you don't have a folder named called MoSetup, you can right click on the parent "Setup" folder and then click on New. Then Select new Key and create a folder called MoSetup. ☑️ When you upgrade, it'll keep all apps and files. ☑️ For this to work, you need Secure Boot. You can enable: docs.microsoft.com/en-us/mem/intune/user-help/you-need-to-enable-secure-boot-windows ☑️ This only bypasses some requirements. You still need the following to qualify: 1 GHz processor or faster with 2 or more cores on a compatible 64-bit processor, at least TPM 1.2, 4GB RAM, 64GB storage, UEFI, & Secure Boot capable.

Hi Kevin, Thanks for the tips. Just installed Win 11 from the .iso file last night after adding the line in the Registry. It works Thanks! I have a question on the Win 11 Start Menu. After adding several links (shared LAN folders) to the Start Menu. I was able to move two of the links to the top row so they are visible in the App menu. However when I removed some of the Apps I don’t need from the App menu (e.g. Spotify, TikTok, WhatsApp) I could no longer see other links I added previously on the Start Menu. How can I make them visible? Is this a bug on Win 11? Thanks Jason 12-19-2021 update Please ignore the above. Everything works fine after the system was rebooted. All items show up on the Start Menu and I can rearrange them. Thanks

Yep, it works. It is a little harder than that for really old computers, but I got it to run perfect on a 2007 laptop with Core 2 Duo T9300 (and I could have used a way worse CPU) I had 4GB of DDR2 RAM, and an SSD (almost a requirement, avoids crying and killing yourself) My graphics were the Intel GM965 Chipset, I had a hard time making some drivers work but I ended up succeeding! I am not worried about security updates as neither TPM 2.0 or UEFI and secure boot are a real hardware requirement for any of these. If Microsoft decides to not provide them to people who are running it on "unsupported" hardware, there will sure be some workarounds very soon!
