I have an HP Envy TouchSmart 15 Notebook PC - P/N: C8P47AV & Model: 15t-i000 Rev. 1963-100 .... it was rebooted the other day and stopped booting into Windows. Windows 8 Pro originally came on it and I've been running updates to the latest win10 pro updates and it has been running like a champ for years., but now I get an error. "Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be a cause. To fix the problem: 1. Insert your Windows installation disc and restart your computer. 2. Choose your language settings, and click "Next." 3. Click "Repair your computer." If you do not have this disk, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance. Status: 0xc0000185 Info: A required device isn't connected or can't be accessed. " it stays on this and powers down my laptop after some time passes. I see a Ctril+I option. "Please install an OS on this hard disk is the message. I tried to check and reset Bios as well. " It has an Intel Rapid Storage Technology screen where it shows 1 physical drive setup with 2 RAID volumes on it. There is a cache volume of 18.6 GB in a RAID 0 stripe (3.8 gb) and cache 18.6 gb) volume in it. It shows the cache volume on the LiteOn data and cache volumes. This is all great advice. What I see is the data volume status. Any thoughts or suggestions that might help? It looks like the data column is bookable and with a status of normal...while the cached stripe is disabled. (Maybe this is why it does not see the data for windows to update..and maybe it is supposed to stay enabled. Thanks in advance however yoy might be able to help. Diagnostics did not fine any issue

OMG, you helped me a lot....I've been doing everything lately and none works. I been seeing the User Profile failed to load and everything I do seems not to work from system restore, reset, start up repair, regedit, etc...nothing works. Hey , im trying to install windows on my Hp computer but it take long after asking me to tap any key on my keyboard after it brings brown strips on my screen . what can i do please

Hey pc monkey. I did everything you did. booted from the usb and there was like a text prompt with the blinking floor. after a few seconds a windows logo popped up and it started to load. then theres a blackscreen and i saw for a split second there was a tab opened then suddenly a blue screen. Not the blue screen of death, a dark blue screen and I can move my cursor. Not offscreen though. and the cursor is bigger than usual. any fixes?

@@PC_Monkey Thank You! I have a backup and Image on a external HD. Not sure at about the 4:40 mins what choice I should take? To keep files or to delete the partitions as you did and install the files from the HD later? Is one safer or simpler to do as I'd be assuming the information stored the external HD are good and not corrupted. There are 182 Files and 4 folders. 151 GB of free space remain on the external HD. @@tapeinosG5011 I back up important DATA so I always find it easier to erase everything and perform a new install. However, if you do not wish to lose all your DATA, you may not want to do that. Up to you :)

How’s it going. I recently watched a bunch of your videos on how to reset hp laptop…. I haven’t turned on my laptop in a few years and just tried. I believe the first thing that popped up was “cmod error restart to continue” I restarted and hp logo and loading circles load and then goes to the gray black screen. Ran a diagnostics and no issues. Now I’m trying to refresh it with still keeping my files as I’m trying to access something. It won’t reset because it says windows drive is locked so I can’t reset. Anything I’m doing wrong I watched all your videos and can’t get this dang thing to open up windows

The drive is locked? Is there a HDD Password on it that your being prompted for? Can you install as seen here and use the 'Keep Files' option?

HELP PLEASE :) I am loving your videos! Thank you for the detailed help! I have a HP Pavilion x360 convertible with a SSD. My computer turns n to "Boot Device Not Found/ Hard Disk 3f0" All tests I have run have passed. I have followed multiple videos now and am up to Installing the Windows 10 ... I have followed all your steps and I am stuck. After I click on the Upgrade: Install Windows and keep files, settings, and applications, I get the following message "The upgrade option is not available if you start your computer using Windows install media. If a copy of Window is already installed on this computer and you want to upgrade, remove the installation media and restart your computer. After Windows has started normally, insert the installation media and run Windows Setup." what do I do now? Did I miss something or am I on the wrong track to fixing my laptop?

That means that most likely, your current operating system is damaged and will not allow for that option. You would have to try the option under it. The Custom Install and erase everything option to try a new install of Windows :(

Thank you for the videos you create! Your help led me in the right direction and saved me about $300 my local repair shop was gonna charge me! You're awesome!

1. The diagnostic test said your Hard Drive is healthy? 2. Did you purchase your install media USB or create it yourself as I did? And what happens exactly when you insert the USB and try to access it at startup?

I have the bootable windows on a usb drive when I select it in the boot menu the hp logo pops up and just loops from a black screen to the hp logo over and over. I have tried multiple ssd's even windows 10 and 11 bootable files. I have also check the RAM and it is operating fine. :(

hey i got a question do hp laptops come with an os made for it? as in like certain drivers if so how can i get the og windows os for that laptop? im nto sure if its this but in device manager standard nvme express driver isnt there and its in the files as stormve.sys, laptop cant boot onto ssd when it tries to im stuck in a black screen with "esc pause startup" im probably asking in the wrong location and i apologize its just id really like to get the full performance out of my system because i dont think ill be able to buy another pc for a couple years (i installed a new os onto my sata hard drive and am currently using that) also love the videos!

No, they do not make specific operating systems for specific computers. Are you wanting to install Windows 10 onto your HP? Does the HP currently turn on and work well? What OS does the computer currently have?

Did you remove the Install Media USB? If the USB is still in the computer, the computer may see it during the restart and begin the install process all over again

It is stuck in a “preparing automatic repair loop”. The usb I used is brand new. I formatted it on another laptop then downloaded windows on it again but it is still stuck on the loading screen.

Hi, My Boot Manager doesn't give me USB as an option. The options available are OS Boot Manager, Boot from EFI File, Notebook Hard Drive and Internal CD/DVD ROM Drive. Can you please help me add USB option?

@@PC_Monkey Thanks for your prompt response. Yes it was working before the blue screen happened. Memory check passed. So this was the next step was to do a fresh install. OK will try the other USB port and see if that registers in Boot Manager. Does it matter if Bios is on Legacy/CMS or UEFI? This doesn't affect what options are available in Boot Manager? Just wondering.

If the Windows Key is saved to the motherboard / BIOS, you will not have to manually load it. It will load automatically. Are you seeing your Windows is not activated?

@@TechnologyRescue With most newer computers, the install will pull the product ID code direct from the motherboard and activate Windows that way. If not, you can enter it in manually after the install completes

When I install windows, it gets to the part of selecting keyboard and region, but then when selecting a WiFi network, it doesn’t show me any wifi, or the option to do it without internet. I tried command prompt oobe\bypassnro but it just starts again

Yes, I can see loads of networks on other devices, and if I go to bios for a scan, it does show the wifis available, just not on the installation for windows, I tried 10 and 11! Thanks for getting back to me🤓

Ok so I installed Windows 10 on my laptop and forgot to delete the partitions, overwriting one it seems. Now the laptop forever boot loops, even when trying to load up the Windows 10 install usb. How do I fix this? Also to clarify I didn't watch tutorials on this up until that point so whoops

@@PC_Monkey it shows me two menus, FreeBIOS(something like that, i can't remember, the PC is at my office and I'm home now), then the second menu is HP Document (it contains the warranty, T&C, some other things i can't remember). I'm planning to go back tomorrow, with Win11 Bootable USB, to try and see if this PC responds to the USB drive

No, it should not, Especially on newer computers.

Do you need a windows serial number at all?

1. Was your HP working well before this attempted install? If not, what was happening? 2. 10hrs is far too long. Most likely the install process has failed. I would turn the computer off and try again.

@@PC_Monkey The computer was performing very slowly, so I decided to format it. The harddrive failed the short dst check but after I formatted it, it passed the test, then after Windows failed to install, it failed the test again. If the harddrive is the problem, is there anyway that I can repair it?

@@daneycm If it failed the test then I would replace it unfortunately :( Good thing is you can use this chance to upgrade to a SSD instead of a HDD. They are faster and break less often :) After installing a new SSD, you will need to install Windows onto it. Let me know if you would like help with any of that :)

I have created the media driver but when i try to install it it promts to "No drivers found" I did a extensive diagnostic and everythign passed the test. Im a bit confused on what to do next, any thoughts?

It does turn on however it is stuck on a reboot loop, which is why im trying your steps. I was using the laptop when it decided to shut down and start the reboot loop. I have tried downloading a driver but it says there has been an issue and it starts restarting again. @@PC_Monkey

After completing 5 steps of installing windows, it asks for restart. After restarting system is getting looped into F11 system recovery options. Please help.

@@PC_Monkey No, it was getting stuck at system recovery options screen, so I tried booting with usb. I ran the scan tests and all passed. Please help as I have reached the dead end.

@@sanketghate2958 Does it ask for a restart towards the end of the install process? If so, can you remove the USB before you restart? If that does not help, perhaps replace the HDD and try again

I also tried installing windows 11 driver. Same result. Error states no device drivers were found. Make sure that the installation media contains the correct drivers and then click ok.

@@PC_Monkey no bro I figured it out when I came to the menue I could see them all. I didn’t have some keys such as f9 and f11 but I resetted my probook and now I’m fine. When I pressed esc it showed me every option and I saw f9 and f11 wasn’t an option. I just wanted to reset my probook and I’ve done it now. Thanks for reaching out and trying to help me 👊.

@@meh3803 If the SSD is an upgrade to your current HDD then yes, that is a good upgrade. You can consult the user manual to see your max RAM capacity for your computer. Or you can go to websites like crucial.com. They can scan your computer and tell you its max capacity. As long as the 8gb is not over that limit, maxing out your RAM is always a good and easy upgrade !!

Went through your two videos didn’t work for me. I ended up cloning my old hard drive and got myself a ssd drive. Still worth watching your two videos. Gained knowledge about my laptop and computers in general. Thanks a lot for sharing your knowledge
