How to install window weatherstripping
Windows let in a lot of light, saving money on your light bill. During the winter, they can also let in a lot of cold air, raising your utility bill. Weather stripping wiz, Dave Mars, shows how weatherizing your windows can lead to lower utility bills.

if you live in the South, avoid the rubber weatherstripping. It starts to melt in the 100+ degree summer and will seal the window shut.
I live in SW Missouri and I enjoy your videos! I have followed your instructions and have winterized all 11 windows in my little house. Thanks for sharing these videos for us! Have a great day! :)

Now that's how you do a weatherstripping for windows video. Very complete, thanks Dave.
Thanks for your very useful tip about WARMING the ROPE CAULK before use! (3:00). Warm, the stuff works like a charm. Also, I had not heard about Zip-A-Way before. It's a removable clear weather stripping you apply with a caulking gun.
Rope Caulk!!! Now that I know this is a thing i'm going to the store. Thanks for the info!
Outstanding Video! A lot of information presented amazingly well in under 5 minutes. Thanks for sharing!

Great radio voice
Thank you!
This dude it’s so likable 😩
Ok, so my take away, fluff the seal around the window. I did and unflattened /respring the rubber at the bottom. Worth a shot? Yes. It worked. I don't feel cold air in the middle. I will check back in a couple weeks and I will get the removable sealant weather stripping.
Thanks 😊
very interesting
Clear caulking is nice at the beginning, especially with the paintable one, and then 1-2 years down the road they collect tons of dirt, hair and everything you can think off and leaves a strip of debris that looks terrible...
Is there a solution like rope caulk, but allows the windows to open and close? I am trying to figure out the best way to weather seal the sides of sliding windows.

Hi! If you're still considering options, perhaps something like a V-Seal?
good deal thanks my windows are leaking big time
nice!
When you put the removable calking along the sides of the window inside your house or use rope calking, must you remove it in the summer? How easy is it to do that?
The music kicks ass!
what is used to seal the window that opens and between the non opening window? Horizontally'
It's Sam Elliot! ;)

No, it's Wade Garrett!
@cabernetvine I like this guy. He's a natural comedian.
what if window leaks where top and bottom meet & lock? rope caulk or removable weather stripping, how do you fix that perm?
What should I do I I suspect the draft if coming from the middle of a double pane window?
I get a Fawlty Towersy vibe. "Manuel!"
In russia we weather strip with brick
nise!
What kind of caulk?
4:00 Easy to remove double sticky tape later? Doubt it
Coors light guy?
Didn't know Sam Elliott was a handy guy.
At 2:54, you pointed out the space in the middle where the two sashes meet but you didn't show how to cover that space.

Yes, he did. It's called roof caulk and he talks about it immediately after he shows the area you are talking about.
Wait, so are you saying that the only way to seal the side of a sliding windows is to glue it shut? Doesn't that defeat the whole point of the windows? Why don't we just have swinging windows like the rest of the world...
Sam Elliott has a twin?
I don"t want to seal my windows shut!!!!!!!!!!

I believe that is why he uses zipaway caulk to remove it to be able to open windows.
Jesus guy fucking do it already
whoever is filming ---you can't see s++t.
No music and background please 🙉👎
Dumb. Then can't open the window
Horrible...didn't address gap between upper immovable window and lower window which needs to be opened and shut
