Thanks! I also had 41 seconds with no audio on the first try. Oops! The switch loop is an important concept though. We used them until 2011 when the NEC changed on that subject. Have a great day!

I might install a few Leviton IPS06-1LW switches, which is the 3-way version of this switch, for my basement stairway. We only use our basement for storage, so it would be nice to not have to worry about the light switch since our hands are usually full when on those stairs.

I like the Lutron in this space. The Lutron switch feels much nicer to me. The Leviton switch paddle has a much heavier spring tension that's annoying if you're using it in vacancy mode.

My favorite sensor, I have 11 of them all through my home, I my might add that I always put RED tape on the wire that not hot,it’s going to the light. Then I put the wire with RED tape on the red screw. Most are set at 5 minutes. Keep the classes going.

Is there another model that you can program so it has a schedule that makes it so you must use the switch manually during certain times of the night? For example if you don't want the light on at 230am but you still want a snack. Thanks again for the videos.

I use the lutron ones in my house. I got one in the 1/2 bathroom in the main floor, the walk in food pantry, my mechanical/storage room, and the laundry/dryer room... (all mostly small rooms that you are in/out quick) Oh yeah, I even put a switch on the ceiling of my garage so the lights turn on as I drive into it. It's kind of weird to put a switch on a ceiling but it's the cheapest way to get a occupancy detector in a room. As far as I know I don't believe its against any electrical code to throw one on the ceiling. 😂 With the sensor on the ceiling it detects me better than if it was on the wall so it never accidentally turns off of I'm messing around on my work bench. Here's a pic i.imgur.com/EpWtlwI.jpg

I bought 3 of these tried to hook them up and nothing on all 3. The load and hot made light come on but it never shut off . Had time on 0 for 30 sec and sensitivity on 3. The green led sensor light also only blinked on one of these. Also light switch had load, hot but no ground. Building was built in 1984 but no ground. strange !

My house was also build in the 50's and no ground wire!!! Will this switch work without one? Some will, some wont. Can I set it so that I manually turn it on and it goes off after I exit.? There are times when I'm in my office for a couple hours and the wall where the switch is located is not visible to the rest of the room!!

  • @SparkyChannel

The Leviton IPS02 will not work without a ground wire. Sure, occupancy sensor switches will turn off when you leave the room unless someone else walks by it.

I'm not sure of the specifics of this model, but there are some with a trigger input for a remote switch to turn them. there are also ways to install multiple senors in parallel so that either sensor will turn the light on.

they do, but there is usually a blind spot in the bathroom where the switch can't see you. if you have a second switch you can turn on for showers, it's not so much of a problem, but otherwise, you tend to need to set it for long enough to not put a person in the dark while they're taking a shower.
