How to Install The Borla Axle-Back Exhaust on my 2016 Mazda3 2.0L - And Focus RS Spotted

Here's my install vid. Everything went well except for the fact that you will need to buy bolts to connect borla to mid pipe. The factory bolts are secured to the removed muffler. Come on Borla! I will get more sound clips soon!

Oooh, I was looking at Magnaflow and Corksport too, but the Borla sounds really good. I have a 15 2.0L manual hatch, I want something with a deep exhaust note that doesn't sound ricey.

If you put 2 nuts on, the bottom but acts as a head since the top won't won't turn. So you wrench the bottom one removing the bolt. It's also a good way to remove bolts with bad heads. Also, if you use a smaller top but than the bigger one, you can use a ratch since the small one won't be grabbed.

I ordered the Injen intake and Borla Exhaust last week for my 2012 Mazda 3s GT. since it's pretty much the only performance mods I can do to her bc it's not the MS3. I can't wait to get it and install them. I was going Corksport but I think Borla sounds better. good job buddy

Yea I'm with you. If the instructions said how to remove the factory bolts and re-use, thats one thing, but it gave no direction and it was all securely attached and nuts welded on. And the "reusable" gasket isn't working out either. Theres a gap and I am going to add a separate gasket in to try and fix.

  • @downtownlife

Wow, I just always assumed there was some form of welding involved with installing exhaust systems. Everytime, I ever seen one installed (not this one) - the guy was welding and cutting metal.

The "tin can" comment isn't meant to be derogatory, but it relates to the super lightweight body, which has very little sound dampening. I spent a good bit of money to add sound insulation to the doors to quiet the road noise, which did help.
