Do you have a video showing this on a 5th Gen ram?.. The taillights on thr 5th Gen have tons more grooves.. Im looking for the best way to black out my taillights but think this might be a PAIN to do in the 5th Gen lights

I don’t have a video unfortunately. I have only tackled the 5th Gen lights once and found it best to use multiple pieces with overlapping seems along edges to help manage all the depth. Start with most recessed spots and layer over with seem instead of trying stretch in. Hope that helps if you decide to try.

Have you had any experience on a Hyundai Palisade Taillight? Its kicked my ass trying to tint it. The heating and stretching hasn’t worked out for me.

Haven’t don’t those taillights specifically. Looks like one piece install is reasonable and my approach would be to start with film tacked in front of light on side of vehicle, and give a good strong pull back and around the rear after heating. Relief cuts where needed and a little heat to shrink back. If there is still too much vertical slack it wasn’t a hard enough pull side to rear. It takes a fair amount of tension to get the slack running horizontal at the corners. Hard to describe in text, hope it helps.

Thanks for good vids. I have same tail lights on my 21 ram warlock.I’m trying to use new vivid gloss light smoke. Having a hell of a time on 4th try . Every time u try to relieve those creases it leaves lines in the glue and can c it thru light smoke . Might not if it was dark smoke. About ready to give up.

Hey. That’s a bummer you’re fighting with the film. I think the adhesive lines maybe less noticeable but still there even with darker shade. I’m not sure about Vivid brand film. I’m familiar with Luxe brand and it seems to be a little more friendly to work with. If it’s really stuck it will leave adhesive lines also but the key would be to minimize the contact to the light surface until it’s ready to squeegee. Easier said than done I know. I have worked on Ram tails a couple times and they are quite tricky so that’s a tough project to jump into. I ended up applying it in multiple pieces, using the sharp edges to hide the seams. I don’t think an all in one shot approach will work out on those lights.
