I already installed mine and came up with a possible solution. Is there any way you can measure how far your pin sticks up past the beauty ring?

Very good. The metal is super thin in that area, you must becareful

For sure. Be careful. If you go too big, the insert cannot grab and hold. If that happens, you need to take a large washer and with a step bit, open the hole to 3/4" and make sure the hole is a tight fit on the insert. Then carefully spot weld that washer over the bumper hole that is too big. That works because I had to do it on the passenger side. It works great. So just be careful taking those holes out to 3/4".

The whole operation of getting the "compression" or "rivet" like inserts installed is trickier than you may think. If you get the hole just a little too big, the insert fails.

@DocsBoost that's what I did ;( the hole os too big. Now I am gonna have to use screws to install them. Do you spray drilled holes with anything to prevent rusting ?

For best results get it round as possible and make it a tight fit. You will be glad you spent the time getting it right. I used a drill bit and it was not the best choice come to find out.

Okay, I also ended up with the hole too big and I had to buy another install kit. Before I used the second kit, I went to the hardware store and bought myself a large flat washer with a diameter just a bit greater than the beauty ring that comes in the install kit. I used a step drill to make the hole a tight fit on the insert. I mean it was a very tight fit. Then I tack-welded the washer in position and everything worked perfectly.
