..the POV action sometimes veered off center, which you don't have much control over when you have your hands full working on the roof, but it did give a closer detailed look at the work when centered, which is a good thing.
The best beginners guide on shingle roofing that I've seen.

One of my favorite aspects of Josh's videos is that he follows best safety practices. He wears the appropriate safety gear. There are so many YT channels that don't and the things they do are extremely dangerous. Thanks for keeping it safe Josh!!

I was a roofer for 4 years and doing repairs sometimes was the worst, especially during winter Great job on the repair, and you called it a 9 shingle job, and it took 7 ... nice to see people who really know their stuff are still working honestly in the world
This video is the true definition of step-by-step guide. Perfect video!
This is the best video on roofing I've found. Awesome job. Im going from tile to shingles and have quotes for up to 35k so i was wondering if i can do it myself. Now i have a better understanding on starting and following in a straight line. Thank you

Thank you! I did put a lot of time to make this video. I tried to make it phone complete to help my audience understand the process of shingling a roof. That $35,000 quote is not out of the ordinary to be a contractor to re-shingle or shingle a roof. Good luck with your project!

I'm going help out with a roof, and this was GOLD!!
Thank you, very straight forward. I’m only shingling a small shelter I built and not an entire house or building but this has been fantastic. Very straight to the point, enough information for you to complete the project properly but not too much information or too in depth to over complicate it.
Your a gem Josh! I hope some day your videos get into our school systems. Not every kid is cut out to be a doctor, lawyer or felon and I think we could put a lot of kids on a road to a fruitful independent future if they learned the basics of all the trades.
Do I work in construction? No, Do I need to get this done? No because I can't even buy a home, but I still this because it was intriguing.
Thank you for taking the time to do a decent roofing demonstration! You are very knowledgeable and informative about the job!
First video I’ve seen on this channel. This gentleman is an excellent teacher. The best teachers can share wisdom from experience that just makes things easier; which he does. Some things are common sense but still should be taught like how to put nails in your pouch, long chalk lines sag and don’t get your glue strips covered in gravel… these rules you often don’t know until you’ve experienced the resulting headache that follows. Good work, sir. I appreciate the detailed video.

Another excellent, instructional video. No silly talk, just clear instruction and the tone is encouraging. Thank you.
Great video! As a female non roofer it's very encouraging to have a step-by-step process to know exactly what the roofers are actually talking about! Thanks again and be safe on the roof! ❤

I'm a former roofer and I know how you'd feel talking with a roofer cause we use the same terms as if we're chatting amongst ourselves upon the roof .... on behalf of all roofers who confuse homeowners, I apologize for the times we are not being clear and concise while explaining the process
Excellent step by step video. I am having my roof done in a few weeks and now I understand how the laborious the job is. Thank you!
One of the most detailed roof shingle videos i've seen. Thank you for taking the time with details.
Well done! Much appreciated as I prep for shingling my garage. I have shingled many years ago but this is a fabulous how-to to review all of the steps.👍🏻👍🏻
You're a fantastic instructor. Any student would greatly benefit from learning from you. You're so thorough and thoughtful.

This guy is a true teacher and explains everything very detailed. Awesome video bro thanks for sharing all your wisdom with all of us. Another day at youtube University.
I'm planning an oversized shed (with zero construction background) and your videos are super helpful. The close-ups really help clarify things and your commentary provides context. Thank you for serving up quality content.
The absolute best roofing video I’ve watched on KZread. You are a great instructor sir. Thank you
As you can see, this guy's pretty good, and I trust his methods
GREAT video. Thanks much. FYI (for beginners) ridge vents come in variations depending on climate. My neighborhood is in a snow belt and the builder used ridge vent designed for non-snow zones. our attics were found to be full of snow. We are are all replacing out ridge vents for the snow-zone.
Great video! I appreciate the level of detail and explanation you give. I also that you don’t worry about keeping your videos short and get everything in one video instead of several shorter ones.

I love the way you explain this. Now I have a great idea of what I need for my roof
I just started in the roofing industry writing supplements, this was a great tutorial to help me understand the parts. Thanks.
Best video I could find. We're building our first shed, and this has been a big help.
Thanks to this video I can do a small roof job tomorrow- feeling pretty good
Amazingly clear. I have to shingle a roof soon, and I now feel very confident about some of the finer detail work and finishing touches.
I liked it for the most part besides two thing. The drip edge on the eve should be the one to get that folded tab and the rake needs cut to fit perfectly and make a pretty point on the bottom when they meet . And the nails on the pipeboot should never have exposed nails don’t shoot the bottom just the top and sides
Thanks for sharing your knowledge! I'm sure it took quite a bit of your time to film and produce this, it's greatly appreciated! Also, it's nice to see craftsmanship that you've shown here! Excellent work!
Amazing DIY video tutorial! Step-by-step clear instructions, well shot and edited. THANK YOU!!!!!
POV camera work, and the quality and detail of installation are too. Thanks for all the professional tips.

Spot on, you explained everything in great detail. It was direct and right to the point. Well done, Thank You
Great job on all the explanation of everything it takes to roof. Always checking with your local codes is so important because some areas require two rows of ice shield because of the overhang of the roof. This gives plenty of safety for ice building up. Dimensional are always such a great look and actually are not a huge cost factor. Regular tab shingles I've done, I've off set 3 rows that would show more of a diagonal look instead of every other row staggered. I've measured from the ridge as well when you get closer to the top so the top looks straight. Of course as you stated, everyone has a different way. Huge crews of 8-10 are amazing to watch how well they all have a way to do each part. It looks like the roof is being poured on. Cutters do their thing as others do. I've never had the chance to use that style ridge vent and it does look really nice when done. If cap shingles are available. I like that too. It saves a lot of time and cutting which offsets the cost as well. Glad you covered the importance of safety as well. I know a roofing company that has special shoes with a tall heel so on 12/12 pitch (even 6/12 pitch) it doesn't bother your ankles. Great job Josh and get some sunscreen on my friend. Hahaha 🔨🔨👍🏻👍🏻

Oh yes, it’s amazing how codes vary so much from town to town and county to county. I remember doing three tab shingles when I was a kid and they are much different than the dimensionals. A dimensional shingle install is much quicker and looks better. Oh wow you have much more experience working with crews of roofers versus me. It’s typically me and one helper or my father. Oh yes, safety is very important and I definitely agree I need more sunscreen on lol. My wife said it’s the best farmers tan she has ever seen! I hope all is well with you David and I appreciate you watching!

Thanks, Josh, for your informative video. It was very helpful. Thanks also for the tips on suiting up the fall-arrest system. It's a rarity for roofing videos; but, given the amount of deaths each year from workers falling from heights, it is much needed. Mike Pereira, Toronto, ON, Canada.
