I know this is old now, but my goodness man. You really helped me here. I was stuck on this for hours and following your vid fixed it for me instantly. +1 sub from me!

You can also try unpacking the files or "installing" it on your PC, then using warpinator to transfer the game folder to your deck on a LAN network. Then, adding the non-steam game. I know that may sound complicated but its very easy.

Don’t install directly from external usb stick because it is very slow, but you can install from external ssd drive as they will run at sata 3 speeds.

Yes you can, it's faster that way. Since your PC will likely unpack the game faster.

Hey man thanks for the video just got my deck today and I've been trying all day to run exe games with proton but nothing worked. I'm going to try this method tomorrow. However I got a question: In the video you copy the game installer from your hard drive to your steam deck main storage. My problem is that I got 64gb deck. So I can't copy a game bigger than 40gb. So, is it ok to copy the installer to SD card, and install from there? Second, have you formatted the SD card within steam deck? Because I think you did, since steam deck can't use unformatted card as storage. Now again, this brings up my problem. I need to use the SD card to copy game installer. But to do that I can't format it for steam deck ext4. Only windows exfat. But to install the game to the SD card I need to format it so deck recognizes it as storage. Do you see my problem here? Is there any solution to this?

Yes you can copy the installer to your SD card, and install it from there to your main internal SSD. I use a usb thumb drive. usb one side and usb c on the other.

i've already installed the games in windows to a external portable drive, would plugging it into the steam deck and doing the same in this video (copy to steam deck's internal drive) and using proton to launch the games files work in a similar way?

I used proton back in 2017 when it was a part of wine. It is so awesome now

Saan siya pumupunta pag ganon? Hindi ko siya maadd (exe file) sa Steam library pag nainstall na kasi di ko malocate.

im having trouble. i managed to get about 6 quacked games installed and playable but now i cant do any. i follow the setup but when i try to test play the game on lutris it just crashes. the last game i did was resident evil 3 and it installed and played only in desktop mode, cant run in steam os. also lutris will loop its runtime updates at start. i dont know if i have to reinstall lutris, but i dont want to risk losing the few games i have working already. thinking i should just wait for win 10 dual boot b4 messing with quacked games. any advice is appreciatedg

I’m having difficulties understanding what’s the best way to transfer the pirated game to the Steamdeck for installation? You seem to do it via USB-C drive is that so?

So I struggled with installing games from FitGirl repack on the Steam Deck wherein when you run the setup.exe and click install button the installation won't progress and just stay at a certain % complete no matter how long you wait. What worked for me is that the installer needs to be on a external SSD connected to the steam deck and then you select the setup.exe from there within Steam then it will progress normally.

if your game is installed already on your micro sd card then theres no need for any extra steps such as the compat mount line , you just make sure your primary storage is the sd card , at least thats why it worked for me

Are you asking about my sdcard? My sdcard is formatted inside Steam Deck but I modified my Deck to format it to btrfs instead of the default ext4

If it's installed in the internal ssd. What you could do is install the game on the sdcard and copy the files over to where you installed it. Personally I install quacked games on the sdcard because updating games on the sdcard is way easier and straightforward.

@@JDRos oh I have the 64 gb model so everything not directly an emulator or a flatpack is on SD cards. The updater I try can find the games and GWT and update folders but it can't find the file no matter how many times I copy the files to multiple locations.
