Your video helped me out! I didn’t install a diode but just took the bulb out of the indicator, went to flashing correctly! I don’t need that little indicator anyway! Lol, I’ll probably install a diode kit in the future to make the indicator work again... but for now I have working turn signals again! I didn’t know that about the turn signal circuit that the indicator is load bearing. I appreciate the knowledge and the video!

Hi, glad the video helped you. Here in the UK it’s an MOT failure if the indicator dash bulb is not working. Fitting the diode kit is an easy option if you can access the wiring. Cheers

I need to do this install on my 2012 shadow phantom. Will this diode kit interfere with the front day time running lights?

Installed this on my 1991 Honda Nighthawk. My turn signal indicator is always illuminated, even when not signaling. Also it does not flash when signaling. Any ideas??

Wish I'd watched this earlier. I fitted sequential LED's to my 99' Thunderace and had the same problem. I worked around it by replacing the bulb with a pair of LEDs plus a resistor added to a separate earth. Worked well enough. Just having trouble with the timing of the flash now. BTW what brand are the sliders on your bike?

Update your flasher relay and you'll be good to go pal. Sliders came with the bike, unbranded.

i hooked up some leds but only have a single dash light replaced the flasher took out the normal dash bulb stopped them all flashing put in a led bulb in dash but will only work one way depending on the way u put it in.Is there a dash led bulb that works both ways like the normal one use too.i dont have canceling blinkers and left it on and nearly got dead .can i get some advise cheers and thanks from australia

Can you help me with something similar. My headlight dash bulb doesnt come on... Ive upgraded my headlight to led but even when i put the old one on theres no bulb.

My only concern is the bulb doesnt light up at all, should i expect it to once ive installed the diodes?

Hi, yes that’s right. The two wires you cut in to will solve the problem all around.

Hi, try using the bike frame instead. Strictly speaking the negative terminal is not always a solid ground point, although it may be connected to ground.

I got two diodes facing the same direction Wth the gates of the diodes facing the relay ( both to one side of the relay) and the other coming out f the relay to anywhere in the frame. Good luck.

Hi bud, I didn’t specifically fit the diode kit to any single indicator. I fitted it to the two wires that go to the dash turn signal warning bulb. Go to the dash bulb and trace the two wires back to where you can install the diode kit near the bike frame to make a ground for one of the wires.

You are most welcome to the video. In answer to your question, no I didn't make the diode kit as I found it easier to buy one off the internet. Also, unfortunately, I don't have a schematic diagram, but if you study the diagram image in the video, this shows in detail how the diode kit is connected to the wiring loom. There is also some text in the video which should help to explain how the kit is connected. Sorry I cant be of any more help. Cheers Brett

Hi, yes that’s correct. The ground wire must be one of the cut wires coming from the dash bulb and ‘not one of the cut wire going to the loom’.

The ground goes to the bike frame, see diagram.

I don't think that you need to install a new flasher relay if you are using a diode it should work with your stock flasher relay. Did you not have one before?

@@delvinmartinda7852 They do sit over the hole and bolt up from the inside fairing. To be honest they are a very good lense for the money. For the price, maybe buy two pairs. I've been using mine for 18 months and no probs at all bud. They are strong.

Where’s your running lights

Is there a professional video on KZread for this, because I'm mechanically inclined but I'm a lousy electrician. I need a production cameraman so that I don't fuck nothing up LOL

You should have bought a Honda.... simples, just change out the flasher relay, no faffing bout with "diode" stuff (which I think is completely unneccessary, even on Yamaha)... I was doing this type of mod 20yrs back - just the flasher unit. Then if you're cheap, as many limeys are, you can spend alot more effort and shunt the LED indicators with a 5ohm/10W resistor and keep the original relay (bimetal/thermostatic relay).... but for £10 just change to an electronic relay - the instrument panel will be fine. Took less than 3 minutes to swap mine out.... and no faffing with "diodes" or resistors. Th reason the LED indicators will flash too fast when using the normal relay is because the LEDs are a much higher resistance then a regular filament bulb (and if ever you try and do a continuity test on an incandescent bulb (not blown!), you'll find virtually zero resistance.) The bimetal contacts are designed to heat toa point then release contact. KZread it.

Will this work in any bike ?

I've not tried fitting this to any other bike but i don't see why it wouldn't work with all the older bikes which are not LED compatible. Few comments on here say they fitted it to other models of Yamaha etc

Come on dude. “Remove the upper fairing” video cuts to it removed. Why not show us how to remove that?? We have to find another video on how to remove that then come back to yours? Come on…….

Ive got 4 led indicators that come on all at the same time aswell .but my problem is that these specific indicators actually have a built in tiny flasher relay each so i wont need the bikes own relay
