HI all. Thank you Wildride for this tutorial! As for errors when running the xcopy, expand my post :D I also tried today to get mods working (with Subnautica) and ran into the "File creation error - The specified file could not be encrypted." with a "Folder could not be created". Solution (that worked for me) was to add the /g parameter at the first DOS command (yes, I am that old that I still call it a DOS PROMPT! 😁 ). So the first command should be xcopy .\* "Replacewithyourinstall" /e /t /g (optionally you could also add /j... Can't hurt) Hope this help others!

I copied and pasted the dump folder contents directly to a new folder at C:\Subnautica then installed QMods, but when I run the game it says, "Save data saving failed. Try again?". What could be the cause for this? It's so unfortunate :/

I fixed it the problem is thath the text in his descrizione is wrong, if u watch his video he type xcopy .\* "E: \.....\" /e /t thath is the right one to text at first

Hey there! Nice guide but something you might want to mention is that some games only work with the x86 (win32) version of the dumper regardless of the OS. I ran into this problem when doing this guide for Hollow Knight specifically

I tried doing this with Iron Harvest, the game tries to boots up and the cursor is there, but otherwise there's just a black screen.

I cannot get past the power shell step, someone please help, getting an error, "Rejecting request to register because the manifest is not in the package root." I'm stumped.

Im not 100% sure on having the game forever, but I would think so, you might be stuck on the version you got from gamepass. You also gotta be careful as the game I did this for was updated 2 days after I posted the vid to allow the Microsoft version to use mods. Which in turn had mod authors alter their methods so had to undo what I did to update the mods, go figure. Loading the game I believe can be done either way, but I use the exe normally. PS. Yes thanks didn't pick up on that in the description even though when I did it in the vid it failed. Ill edit that.

Not sure if I have missed something, or I am doing something wrong. I have tried this for Slime Rancher, but the Dump folder just balloons in size. One or other of the main EXE just continue to grow in size. Any ideas?

I've been playing Persona 3 Reload with the gamepass. And after doing this process, it no longer connects to the network or xbox. So.. If I stop paying for gamepass, I can just keep playing it? Or will it not work?

Hey, when trying to move the mods to the paks folder, I actually don't have a folder called "paks". What do I do?

Did the whole thing for Subnautica, no errors whatsoever, but the end result is that the game opens into a black screen and stays like that, no login prompt or anything, it's just a black screen

Maybe y'all can help. While in the CMD promt I keep getting a message saying ( file creation error- specified file could not be encrypted. I deleted the file in question, it moved on to the next. Any help would be appreciated!

I know this video is older, but I don't see any other tutorial vids on your channel. Holy s#!+, why not??? This was such a great tutorial Wildride! I would love for you to make some more like this. I have a CS degree but I don't know how to do everything. So, clear and easy to follow step by step tutorials are great for learning more. You didn't just say "Click this, do this, etc" you EXPLAINED it. So many tutorials are really just instruction vids. Not yours. Good job man. I'm gonna subscribe and keep my eye out for more tutorials from you in case you switch gears. P.S Or you could start a second channel for just tuts. Wildride Pro Tutorials, nice ring yeah? Start with basic stuff and branch out into some modding stuff, overclocking, etc. I'd be a regular viewer.

All the stages complete, but Gears Tactics fails to launch. All I'm really trying to do is get past the zero space problem and get it to work in 3D with helixmods [edit] Battlesector doesn't work either. I guess it's just some games that do.

You re gonna have to clear space on c,because it ll make a copy there.Also keep the game open when you use the dumper

This is honeslty the most helpful guide to modding with game pass games that I have seen yet. You still need some technical knowledge and problem solving skills but lets be honest .... you shouldn't be moding games if you don't know what an .exe file is or how to extract files.

final step gave me a few minutes of peril because you copied the text barely wrong but it is okay! figured it out really quickly. hopefully this comment will help someone else but Add-AppxPackage -Register AppxManifest.xml that is what you need to copy into powershell at the end i was copying the descrip and not the video at first and couldn't figure out what was wrong but figured it out thanks for the good tutorial and cheers!
